Apple Media Event Announcement? iPod Updates Later...

Will the phone connect to your computer so you can put songs on via iTunes? Why would anyone pay $2 for a song if they could just get it of their computer? 😕
Who needs your whole library in your pocket, when...
...you can only enable "Allow mobile access to my library" in iTunes and download the songs to your mobile from your own library whereever you are.
I mean, you will probably be able to buy and download songs on the fly, but it would be awfully nice to have an overview of your whole library on the phone (it will not be too big), and add and remove songs at will when you are out walking. You will have to keep your computer online all the time, but people usually do nowadays. Maybe you can add a couple of friends to this service too, so they can get limited access to your songs and vice verca?

Very reliable sources are telling LoopRumors that the new iPhone will be unlike anything weve seen. The enclosure will be slimmer, sexier and sleeker than any image that has appeared on the internet up until now. The phone will be unique in design exclusive for Apple and not a rebranded Motorola phone. Our source also informed us that we can also expect to see more than just iTunes integration. Possibly iPhoto, iCal, iChat or iSync? USB 2.0 and a media card are also integrated into the phone. We may have more info before tomorrows announcement so stay tuned...

The Click Wheel is a fabulous way of being able to navigate your music collection but does not, as far as I can see, lend itself well to either dialling telephone numbers or sending SMS messages. Equally a numeric pad does not lend itself well to navigating a large music collection so it looks for the moment to be a Catch-22 situation. In this respect it will be interesting to see if Apple can crack this problem...

i really want a video iPod, but i don't know what the likelyhood is. And now apple will be directly competing with the PSP..which isn't particularly smart..
One thing I'm kinda wondering about is when the imminent iphone will be available via the carriers? Has there been any indication as to whether they would be available same day, or within some period of time following the announcement? I know there isn't anything definitive yet, just wondering if someone has read the bones on this.

So what exactly are you gaining (portability-wise) by transferring them onto an iPod, and then hooking said iPod to an HDTV?
And even if you do encounter a situation which necessitates using the iPod to play an HD movie through an HDTV, why would you EVER need more than 10 at a time?
Sounds kind of silly to me. (I hope you weren't being sarcastic)

I know people are going on about HD movies, but anyone into the AV area will see fault here. First, no point having anything close to HD on a tiny screen, you would need a microscope to see the difference between SD and HD on a 3 inch screen. I would have to assume, based on experience with the Samsung E715 (I think that's the model), that the amp in the iTunes phone will really suck, making the sound quality terrible. Maybe that aspect's been improved, but it will certainly have planned obsolescence written all over it. I just read that the processors in cell phones have such poor quality control that they tend to fail within 2-3 years from manufacture (most people have gotten a new one by that time).
In addition to all that, I tend to combine purchases only as a means of gaining value, not to look cool.

My big hope for Sept 7th is that the iTunes enabled phone as built in support for Cingular's EDGE network! Perhaps we could even see an Apple Airport/EDGE hybrid card. Sony has teamed up verizon to deliver such a card.

Whats got me puzzled is the fact (and if Thinksecret are right) that Apple are launching the iTunes phone. When this thing rumoured to be coming, and those first few (wrong) pics got released, it was hammered into those who were shouting "Apple's designed a royal POS" that it was a MOTOROLA design and a MOTOROLA product - just with added iTunes functionality.
With that in mind I find it curious to see that Apple is promoting this - after all it is somebody else's product, despite the iTunes side of things. Unless when the phone does get released it actually has been designed by Apple. Still, as its a Moto I won't be getting it - their OS is the worst of all the major players.
I guess I'm still living in hope for a vPod - I don't need one, my 60gigger does everything and holds everythign I need, but if there is a new design, and BT built in (after all the BT2.0 +EDR in the new PB's is for something!) I'll be buying it.... especially as it looks like there won't be a new PB coming anytime soon thanks to the lack of Paris keynote.....

T-Mobile execs confirmed that by March of 2006 theyll have switched every country that currently has UMTS over to HSDPA, whichll max out at 1.8Mpbs initially but might someday run as fast as 7.2Mbps (dont hold your breath). In the meantime, T-Mobile USA subscribers will be lucky if they can get a 100Kbps connection on their phone; the company admits that its going to long time before they make the move to 3G here in the States.
