Stricktly Invites only. I think iBooks and Full Screen Video iPod. iBook should be the Mini Specs, perhaps a little faster, Core Duo minimum with a screen. Probably only 2 USB 2 ports.

NOT 17" MBP yet. Saving that for NAB. FCP will be Universal by this event. But I dont' think the 17" MBP is ready yet as it needs a HD-DVD drive inside.

If I'm not mistaking Apple is in the Blueray camp so no HD-DVD :S

I think we'll see the MacBooks being accounced on the tuesday before March 1st, with a new design. I also think they'll be a 13.3" and 15.4", both with 1280x800 resolution, one solo one duo. Obviously I see a 13.3" MacBook Pro but later.

No modem, gigabit ethernet, Mac OS X tiger, front row and iLife '06, and intergrated graphics. What do other people think?

writing notes on the screen or something?

You wouldn't need a touch screen for that. You can write as many notes onto your current iBook screen as you want.

No modem, ..

I really need the modem now and then (since I'm travelling a lot), and I'd really prefer to have an internal modem rather than an external one, since I tend to leave things at home when I need them most..

Only embarassing to Mac fanboys who need to get a life.

Or even worse...the Mac Haters who have nothing better to do than spread their vile comments in a passionate and enthusiastic community.

I get that not everyone is passionate about the Mac and Apple. People have different interests. I don't post at sites that are full of people who are passionate about, and who collect, Pez candy dispensers.

But I also don't go there are act like a jerk because I don't share their passion.

Those who do, or people like Rocket Rion, are pathetic.

Rocket Riot, we get you are not a Mac guy. Now, go find something you are passionate about and do that. You'll live a richer, happier life.

and so on...:D

Yes, Yes... The funny thing is that as I am getting ready to buy, there is a rumor of something better coming out and I end up in ...parking...again!

No wonders Apple hates rumor sites! :D

heh, thats why they don't let their workers post on rumor sites.

I hope they introduce a new ibook, and i hope it comes with a price drop also :D

thanks for the tip! i would assume that you are being sarcastic, i ment as far as writting diagrams, notes and other things that would be quicker by hand than by typing, but again, thanks for the tip...you learn alittle everyday!

Except they perform better, are true 64 bit, and consume less power. Otherwise, just the same.

Isn't it the opposite? Don't AMD's processors consume a lot more power than Intel's?

1. iMac has the name Mac in it.
2. iBook doesn't.
3. Steve Jobs stated [MWSF '06] that products that run Mac OS should include Mac in their names.
4. iBook will be re-named MacBook because it runs Mac OS and therefore should have Mac in the name.
5. Makes sense.
6. Do we have to draw pictures?

Yes, I hope they drop the 'i" from iMac as well. Probably won't happen until a re-design though.

You forgot the biggest point: it would be silly to have a "MacBook Pro" but no "MacBook". ;-)

Even in a non-computing environment and in a purely verbal exchange, you'd have to be pretty "Yvan256" to be talking about computers and be thrown off by hearing Mac as opposed to iMac.

Hey MacQuest, do you think I'm dumb or what? Why are you attacking me like that?

If anything, Apple should keep using "iMac" only for the association with "iPod".

I'm with you on that one. Laptops need to have a built-in modem, as opposed to a desktop computer (where it makes no real difference if the modem is built-in or external).

AMD desktop, server, and workstation chips preform faster, consume less power, produce less heat, arnt missing two instructions of the x86-64 instruction set like intel chips, are much higher preforming and cost less. Apples investment in Intel is in Core and Intel(future name of the pentium line removeing pentium form branding) both of these preform better than current AMDs form prelimery benchmarks but the Intel is 6 months away. The Turon X2 is due out soon and will compleat with the Core Duo except for one thing the Turon has 64bit.

Laptops with modems just bug me, just another thing to switch of in the bios and you cant even do that with a iBook. If it has to be there let there be a option to switch it of in the hardware so it dosnt nibble at the battery.

Still, a 13.3" iBook is very small, seeing something better than a GMA950 card would piss Intel Mac Mini users, considering that they also raised the price to $599.

Who cares about mini owners? (no offense mini owners)

You want Apple to cripple other product lines to keep happy owners of the cheapest Mac on the market? That's just silly.

I bet you were one of the people that got mad when they put the G5 into the iMac when they couldn't put it in Powerbooks, huh?

I'm So Excited!!! Maybe Just Maybe.......

Apple will release a new $99 leather case for my mouse :D

So we have the consumer mac the iMac, the small mac.. the mac mini.. so when the new powermac comes it will be the Big Mac :D

I don't think we will see a core duo version of the new macbook with a x1300 or anything. It again will be to darn close to the mac book pro's

And then McDonald's will introduce the Big Mac Pro... ;)

True, but Apple's external modem is so tiny, just stick it in your laptop bag and forget about it.
