Apple Media Event Rumored for Late February, Apple Watch and 12" MacBook Air Likely Topics [Updated]

Couple things I would like to see Apple doing this year:

Stand alone TB 5K displays
ATV

Fanless? How am I going to edit 3 streams of 4K HD in real time on site at a film set? Thanks Apple

Uncharacteristic of the latest Apple, but I liked having events throughout the year vs having them all crammed into the few months before the Christmas shopping season.

Edit: I'd be overjoyed if they'd announce new Thunderbolt Displays to go with those new MacBook Airs! Come one Apple!
It has been a long since they upgraded the Displays. It will be really nice if the price comes down as well.

This. I've got a TV ready and waiting to be upgraded from a Chromcast to a new Apple TV connection. I won't buy the currently available old tech for $99 on principle. So my next Apple TV purchase will be when they release a new product. I might even buy two and put one of my older ones out to pasture.

Exactly my feeling as well. I wanted to buy the Apple TV as a present for some family members, but I refuse to spend that much on three year old hardware.

oh and anything to improve icloud drive and their office suite.

Yes this. I went back to the iPhone for just that reason and so far going from iOS to iOS is fine and going from Mac OS to Mac OS is fine. But iCloud just can't get going between the two platforms done right.

as for the 12" Air ... I'll keep breathing. I'd rather see an iPad Pro and 14.4" Air. Oh and a Retina TBolt Display.

Beating to the punch

Sounds like Apple ha waited until Samsung announced their "next big thing" and now are going to beat them to the punch. Not that they'd release a new phone and not that they even have to, but if they steal some of the thunder, they can make Samsung look pretty lame and dorky.

I suspect that they would announce some new products like the iPad Pro/Macbook Air 12", release things like the new iPhoto and prep developers with the final Apple Watch SDK and perhaps even developer edition watches to finalize testing.

Should be interesting!

I'm waiting/excited for this...I need to buy a new laptop. I don't like that picture though (not gonna happen), I'm sure it's going to have 2 USB 'C' type connections (one on each side) :D

Funny how a mod deleted the post. Let's try again: *yawn*

These highly-predictable events aren't as interesting as they used to be. The Mac Pro unveiling was the last neat one IMO.

If this event doesn't interest you I wonder why you even posted here. Twice.

Well, Apple want's to ship all devices with the newest OSes. Remember how iPad's were released with the current version of iOS while the iPhones were released with the newer version. I assume that may be a part of it, but I agree things seem rushed now.

Ah memories. I remember someone finding PhotoBooth, Camera and FaceTime icons in an iOS 4.3 beta for iPad, before iPad 2 was released.

if the 12 MBA is be ultra portable, using a low performace CPU to allow no fans, why not just build a 12 iPad pro.

Apple has one of the best laptops in the markert in the 13 MBA, and for the sake of thinness they are going to probably gimp the perforance of this one.

Just give the 13 MBA a retina screen, that will be a killer product.

Does Jim ever "yep" stuff? Seems more like "nope" or just silence rather than "yep". If true though I find it interesting they decided to have an event before MWC rather than after.

Here's a couple.

The predictable events were just fine.... At least stuff got updated.

Wheels started to fall off when markerting got to decide roadmaps, and functionality that devs/engineer could not deliver short of launching with a gimped or bugged product. The classic being maps, later, each realise of iOS and OS X being plagued with bugs.

It's when they started to fall behind into the one mega event prexmas, that is when it became very uninteresting. Compared to 2014, it's awesome to get an event pre last quarter....

I agree. I'm afraid to take my large screen phone on my sporting events, so I take my iPod touch. iOS 8 seems to have made it really slow. Still functional, but I can tell a big difference between it and my iPhone.

Wipe it and set it up as a new device. I still use my iPhone 4 at the gym and it spins along at a nice rate after a fresh install.
