This sounds pretty big, and from the wording it's obviously something along the iPod line that's being renewed.

Question is, what the hell will come in Paris if this is coming now?

Thats what I am really exited about. Theyre probobly getting rid of the "small" anouncments and saving some awsome stuff for Paris. This just made my day a little better. (thats sad to say that a computer company can make me happy)

Am I the only one who thinks that the iTunes Music Store needs to be upgraded a little? iTunes 5 would be sweet if Apple launched a new version of the store. And adding other stuff would be cool too I guess.

I hope it's not that thing:

Some nice drawings showing up in this forum. The Flash Mini is not a Shuffle.

It's like a little brother to the iPod. Stainless steel back, polished white front. About 9mm thick. About 40x80mm overall. Someone who has actually held one said it is pure elegance. He speaks of certain castration by Apple if any sketches or photos leak.

I think Apple is betting the farm on this Flash Mini. Street says 10M units are scheduled to deliver for Christmas.

One closely held secret is whether or not it has a photo-quality display. If so, this tells me the existing Mini formfactor may be on the way out.

I hear the price has to be north of $199, which might also support the theory that Mini is end-of-life. Absolutely no guidance available on this point.

Sorry, no quotable sources. you expect this kind of thing from newbies!

Reported by MacWorld, Apple has sent out media invitations to a "Special Music Event" to be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Moscone Center West in San Fransisco on September 7, 2005.

The invitation features a pair of denim jeans and the caption "1000 songs in your pocket changed everything. Here we go again."

The iPod line has been continually refreshed year over year since introduction and continues to be a possible candidate for this meeting. However, speculation from AppleInsider points to the possible release of the iTunes-capable Motorola phone that has been rumored for months.

man I hope it's broadcast, I'm moving to LA on thursday night, and would totally hit up the grove to see that :)

Hopefully updated iPods and/or (color?) iPod Mini... and not just the ROKR and iTMS Guam.

But don't expect video iPods. As has been repeated many times: you can't watch video WHILE you do other things. Portable video might be fun and cool, but not nearly as useful as portable audio.

What CAN you experience while doing other things? The logical next step is in a whole new direction:

"1,000 odors in your pocket."

I'm tied to Windows Mobile phones at work so I hope this is more than an iTunes phone. I'm not a fan of Moto's home brew UI. I've been holding out for a new ipod on my 3g which is now maxxed out. Come on new ipod. (And not just larger capacity, but new design :) )

No fair! I was going to a buy a new cell phone this week...but now...

I think I'll save that $400 and wait to see what Apple comes out with. My 4G iPod is pretty scratched.

hmm...new phone or new iPod, decisions decisions :D

Let it be EVERYTHING on your list!

Yeah, everything!

My guess is iPod(video?)/music/phone related stuff at this event, and actual computer related items and updates at Apple Expo! :D

While my head says it's that darned phone that I couldn't care less about or video iPods which I also don't care particularly about, I'm hoping that the 'here we go again' tag means that Apple are about to revolutionise some other area as much as they did the MP3 market.

Let.s break it down....The "1000 songs in your pocket" reference comes from the very first iPod introduction. "Started it all" refers to the digital music revolution and how the iPod has become a pop culture phenomenon.

So they are eluding to the fact that this will be a major product introduction that will revolutionize something....

my guess is video iPod or the iTunes phone.
