Just installed it, signed up to the trial. It's got a nice interface for the radio section, but I don't like having my entire music library pushed aside to make way for their subscription service. Thankfully you can turn it off, but I'd rather have my own music categories across the bottom and a little button at the end for this Beats service thing.

It is pretty smart though. I put in a few of my favourite artists and genres and it selected some out-there suggestions that were right (I didn't select electronic music at all but it recommended Kraftwerk, a band I like). Maybe it's pulling data from Genius and our own libraries?

The curated radio playlists are pretty cool, my favourite feature so far. But this is something I'd rather use on my computer not a phone. So hurry up new iTunes app!

All this talk of intense customization to your personality means that those of us that share an iTMS account with our spouses should just stay away from this whole thing, right?

That's the impression I'm getting but I don't know if it's accurate or not.

Family Sharing.

I have a simple question.. I'm a little confused..

So if I "save a song for offline play" .. does that mean that this won't be streamed? Does it actually get downloaded onto my device? I don't have a very big data plan I do not want to chew threw..I will pay for the service to use over wifi, but I listen to a lot of music in the car. If I save offline, nothing is streamed, and goes straight to my device? Just need clarification..

Streaming music is not for me. However I think that this could increase piracy if spotify has an exclusive album, rdio has one and Apple Music. People will just get annoyed by that and find music elsewhere.
Course it will. It already happens with TV/film streaming services, it will happen with music too.

BGR has already started digging Spotify's grave. I think it's a bit premature if only because Spotify has the free with ads tier and the student discount. Is someone currently paying nothing going to start paying $10 a month because the curation is a bit better with Apple Music? Of course if Spotify loses a lot of its paid subscribers to Apple Music then it could be curtains for them. I'll be curious to see what happens when Apple Music comes to Android and how Apple gets Google Play music users to switch.

I guess not, but Apple have more music. And from what I've heard, it won't take Apple Music or anyone to kill Spotify: Spotify aren't making any money. It doesn't matter if Apple or Google's streaming services don't make money, because the companies are so profitable elsewhere.

I wondered if Apple wouldn't make Apple Music $4.99 a month, run it at a loss for two years, then when the competition had died off, put the price up.

Or stop sharing an account and have the other create their own AppleID and then create a Family Account with both of your IDs. Then you can both have access to each other's purchases, but you won't have identical accounts.

Well I hope its better than the Brian Eno thats currently coming from B1.. lol
I haven't posted in quite a while, but... no hatin' on Brian Eno! Music for Airports is legendary. :p

(I think the DJ is adding in some of his own sound effects, though.)

Apple can't win for losing. People say they hand hold their customers too much by oversimplifying their UI's (because people wanna feel they are smart and can figure stuff out and tweak as they go along) and now people are saying they overwhelming them.
Seems like people have never used Windows.

I don't mean to sound like an Apple hater. Having used Apple Music for about 2 minutes, it doesn't seem complicated to me. It seems full of content, but intuitive to figure out. :)

Apple specifically says that only "eligible" media is shared between devices.

I am extremely concerned about a future where I have to buy a unique copy of the latest Disney movie for each of my kids.

I'm suspicious of hell of the whole family sharing thing. They can change what's eligible on a whim. Probably won't be doing that and thus it sounds like I won't be doing this music thing either.

Spotify just seems much simpler.

Yes, so long as you stay signed in.

Wow, so I can pay 10$ a month to download any music I want straight onto my device? I look at it more in this concept rather then the streaming aspect. Do I "Own" that song at that point? Put in playlists, burn it to CD's for friends, etc?

I work in the music industry as a booking agent, and I have no idea how Apple managed to get people to agree to this. They must have a great team of lawyers..

Question.

I have iTunes Match shared among 9 devices.. Family & friend. It's attached to one Apple ID for iTunes & App Store purchases. Now if I use Apple Music and add users under my Family Plan... Will my matched songs only be available to the master AppleID? Will the users under my Family Plan be unable to access those matched songs?

Have you done any research to find out if your concerns are warranted? I don't think Apple has any track record of changing what's eligible on a willy-nilly basis. They just reserve the "eligible" term for the few studios/labels/etc might not allow it. It's more a case of the content owners having the right to change what's eligible, though you direct your frustration about it at Apple.

You originally raised your concern about being able to have a different AppleMusic setup than your wife. I answered that question...it is possible to do.
