Can anyone confirm how many Echo devices can simultaneously stream Apple Music? Amazon Music Unlimited only lets me stream from one device at a time, which is pretty lame when my kids are listening in their room and I want to listen elsewhere.
I just had two different songs/artist playing on two different Echo devices.I have the family plan. I believe you need the family plan from Amazon if you want multiple streams of different music with Amazon music.

Sonos is just too successful. Maybe in a decade things might change for the near future they’re not going anywhere. The HomePod could turn out to be such a flop Apple end up quitting the market

Apple can’t afford to quit this market. The next generation of computers will be speech based. We’ll speak to our computers naturally, as if they were human assistants, rather than sit in front of a screen for many of our daily tasks. That’s a threat to the iPhone, the iPad and even the Mac for many casual home PC users.

Given Apple’s investments into AI, their hiring patterns and now the release of HomePod which is noticeably different than the Siri in our iPhones, Apple is clearly making a big move into this category.

Like the AppleWatch, HomePod was just the first no frills foundation upon which they’ll build a class leading product. Unlike AppleWatch, the hardware is pretty much near perfect already. As people collect more HomePods for their homes, building a user base, Apple can improve HomePod on the server level as they redevelop Siri. In fact, they already have.

HomePod isn’t going anywhere.

I'm confused, does this work on echo dots? How about on other alexa-empower devices, like the Ecobee4?

Is there any way to set family controls on Apple Music played through Amazon devices while allowing explicit tracks on my phone? I want the music requested by my kids to be family-friendly, but without affecting my own private listening.

I just linked Apple Music through the Alexa app (Settings, Music, Link New Service) to play through my speaker group and both times I tried it the music started, then stopped and Alexa said there was a problem. Seems a bit buggy at launch...
Just because you have an issue doesn’t mean it’s a buggy launch. Means you are the issue

Alexa doesn't do any of the things I need, and Siri does.

Like what? I’m curious.

All of my HomeKit devices are compatible with Alexa, and that’s pretty much all I use Siri for besides Apple Music. As someone who isn’t an audiophile, I can’t think of a good reason to invest in HomePod as my first smart speaker.

Can anyone confirm if you have an Apple Music family account, if you are able to play multiple streams on different echos at the same time? For instance, the kids have echos in their room, and parents have one in the kitchen. Can we all listen to different Apple Music streams at the same time? Amazon Unlimited Family allows up to 6 simultaneous streams.
I have two dots In my house and they're both playing different music right now as I type this. I do have a family plan as well, but im assuming that doesn't really matter for this feature to work :)
[doublepost=1544821618][/doublepost]This is insane to have. I have a home audio system that I have one of my Dots hooked up to. Its crazy to think that I can stream my Apple Music Library to an Amazon device, and have my house bumping without having to pay $300+ just to play my music!

Inside the Alexa app on your phone, go to the Music settings and scroll to the bottom to enable the Explicit Filter. This shouldn't have any effect on Apple Music services on your phone or other Apple devices.

If only Apple would offer Amazon prime music on the HomePod. Then it might be of some use to me and might be removed from the attic.

You’re right, it’s not going anywhere. Apple have sold hardly any and they have them piling up in stock rooms.

We consume so much content through computers, I don’t see how they’ll be purely speech based. In a work environment a speech only computer just wouldn’t too. Nice idea though and it’s interesting to hypothesise. Only one way to find out.

The real question is, when can I play Amazon Prime Music and Spotify with Siri, and thus on HomePod?

For me, and I have a HomePod and numerous Alexa devices, the HomePod simply sounds better and hears me better when music is playing. Also, I have three AppleTV 4s and an Airport Express that can all be told what to play from the HomePod ( "Siri, play Prince in Den" means something to the HomePod and means nothing to Alexa).

Nobody said computing will be exclusively speech based. It’ll be an essential part of our daily lives as we move computers to our wrists, to our ears and into the environments around us. Visual computing will continue as overlaid information on the real world and traditional computers will continue to exist for work and some types of content consumption like reading, photography, watching video, etc.

Apple has been laying the foundation for eyes off computing for a few years before the HomePod was introduced. Even for elements without voice, iOS has been getting reorganized to work with an artificial intelligence assistant which will enable it to eventually interact through natural conversation.

It’s simply too important for the future of the company for them to abandon it when it is only at the first stage of Apple’s successful category takeover strategy.

History keeps repeating itself and some people never learn. I rolled my eyes at critics here claiming that Apple Watch was a flop, it wasn’t selling, nobody wears watches, Apple should stop wasting resources and focus on the Mac... then the Apple Watch followed the same pattern of basic foundation to powerful ubiquitous device as the iPhone.

HomePod has just started as a foundation and has plenty of room to grow. And it already is growing — shortcuts has already vastly extended its functionality, and this is just the first major software update.

Tempting to plug a Echo Dot into an Apple HiFi...

How do you set this crap up. Nothing to pair in the useless Alexa app. Useless Google useless solution is to remove DRM from the files or use crappy blueooth.
