Probably my biggest gripe about Apple Music is the search button. If I'm in "my music" and want to make a search, it always defaults to the "all Apple Music" tab. It would be nice if defaults to searching the "my music" tab if you are already in the "my music" area.

Overall though, there is way to much navigation to complete a simple task.

I think they should separate it from the music app.

I don't use Apple Music, so get it out of my face.

So Settings > Music and turning off Apple Music isn't enough for you?

A bit from the article:

"The new user-interface ditches the current colorful and translucent look in favor of a simpler design that emphasizes black and white backgrounds and text. For instance, the user interface in the albums view will no longer change in appearance based on the color of a particular album’s art."

No, the Music app UI is atrocious if you don't use Apple Music. iOS 6 Music app was perfect.

Timing sounds about right.

Without SJ it would take about a year to go through all of the quality music apps on Cydia and iTunes and put together a redesign and call it your own.

Makes sense to start making things darker if the OLED-rumors is true... will iOS 11 be available in (optional) black (for better powermanagement with OLED screens?)

Apple is planning to overhaul its year-old music streaming service to make it "more easy to use", according to people familiar with the matter (via Bloomberg News).

The company is set to redesign the user interface to make it more intuitive, said the sources, who asked to remain anonymous because the plans are yet to be made public. Apple also means to significantly enhance the integration of its streaming and download businesses and expand its online radio service.

According to Bloomberg, a full reboot of Apple Music is to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June and will be accompanied by a fresh marketing campaign to entice customers to the subscription-based service, which currently costs $10 per month.

Apple Music was introduced with much fanfare back in June 2015. While many commentators gave generally positive reviews, the service was criticized for its muddled interface and dearth of features. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift penned an open letter to the Cupertino company criticizing it for not paying artists during the service's free three-month trial and explaining her decision not to make her album 1989 available to stream on Apple Music. Artists have also complained that Apple Music's social aspect, called Connect, "fails miserably" in its aims.

Apple has struggled to integrate its employees and unite the streaming and downloading businesses into a cohesive music strategy, according to the latest report. As a result, the service is now being overseen by content head Robert Kondrk and Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor. Design chief Jony Ive's team has also been involved, along with former Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine and senior VP of Internet services Eddy Cue.

Apple Music has reached 13 million subscribers, announced Apple CEO Tim Cook at last week's earnings call. The figure was 2 million higher than that reported in February, indicating a growth rate on par with industry-leading streaming service Spotify.

Update: Details about the upcoming Apple Music redesign have been shared by 9to5Mac. It is said to feature a "bolder, yet simpler" design that puts an emphasis on black and white backgrounds and text and more of a focus on album art. The "New" tab in Apple Music is being replaced with a "Browse" option with better organizational tools for finding new content, and Apple will encourage users to use a simplified "For You" section.

Connect, Apple Music's artist-focused social network, will remain unchanged, as will Beats 1 Radio. New 3D Touch shortcut previews will be added, Apple will make sharing features more obvious, and a feature allowing listeners to easily access song lyrics will be added. The new Apple Music app will reportedly debut at WWDC in iOS 10 and will be introduced through an iTunes update on the Mac.

Seriously people, if you want music get Spotify.

I don't understand what the issue is with easy of use with the Music app all of you are having? I disabled Connect which now allows a tab for my playlists to be one of the 5 tabs at the bottom and I can find and play whatever I want very easily and fast.

I gave up on my beloved iTunes months ago. It's a mess. Nowadays every time I try to use it, I just get angry. Using Spotify to control my music library until Apple remembers how to design a usable UI.

i started using Ecoute ever since the apple music mess. it's 99c and not perfect, but simple enough to just listen to my music, without all the features i don't need and can't hide. (curiously though, in itunes it's possible to disable all extra features and just show music library! i can't conplain about that)

The really funny thing is that Spotify basically just released an update that structures their app almost exactly like Apple Music and everyone can't stop praising it.

As a corporation whose dominion covers both phones and computers, I am surprised by missed opportunities to create joint functionality such that each device becomes the greater of the whole. Rather, we see applications that struggle to exist on multiple platforms with cumbersome interfaces. What ever happened to Apple's old interface design text for establishing and testing intuitive and consistent standards? That was required reading for anybody in computer science or related programs.

It's not surprising that Apple Music is a ****show internally when you have Eddy Cue who has a history of project mismanagement and technical fumbling, add in big egos and bad design from Beats Music, and try to integrate that with Apple's perennial ****show iTunes.

On the bright side, it can really only get better from here on out, because I'm finding it hard to imagine a worse user experience than what Apple Music is right now. I really hope Apple has put an A-team of designers on it. One thing that has me a bit sad is the 9to5 rumor that they don't plan to do much with Connect. Really? It's probably the worst-designed part of the service. And maybe I'm crazy, but unlike Ping I actually want to use Connect. I want to keep up with the artists I follow. But right now it's a hellscape of webviews and impossible to find anything. Can we at least get some Notifications up in here?

I had been using Spotify more and more before AM was released.

My main issue with it was that it wasn't structured in such a way that I could tap on artist, which would then take me to a list of their albums.

With these sorts of things, a big part of it must be how people use it.

I have no problem at all scrolling through my list of artists, tapping on the artist to see their albums, and then tapping on the album I want to listen to.

Or tapping 'Playlists' and then the playlist I want to listen to.

Am I missing out on something, or doing something wrong to not have all the problems and issues that so many others have with AM?

Hoe about make it actually WORK before making it prettier? I am forced to run TWO separate iTunes library because turning it on trashed most of playlists and a lot of my albums. What do I mean by trashed? Well songs from playlists were simply deleted, albums with missing tracks, album art pulled from an entirely DIFFERENT album altogether. A nice live version of a Paul McCartney song replaced with another version of the same song from an entirely different live album. I could go on and on. Apple LOVES music if you buy from them. They HATE you brining anything over from your own LEGAL collection. Funny how NONE of the music I bought from iTunes over the years has ever had a problem!

This could be good. As long as Kendrick and Reznor have the most control. I'm cautiously optimistic. Trent Reznor's Hands on anything has the focus to be great. :apple:

OMGGG YESSS! I'm so excited!!!

My Apple Music wish list (and I'm sure many others will agree):

- Apple Music only headphones: make Apple Music only heard through special headphones with a newer connector, that way we can buy a adapter for it (under $99 please).

-Thinner design... In keeping with traditions and making every product thinner, please find a way to make Apple Music thinner!

-Rose Gold interface: Omg, we need more rose gold! please make this happen!

-More cringey Taylor Swift commercials - nothing like watching Taylor Swift act cool singing rap music... we need more!

Please don't let us down Apple...
High-five for Rose Gold Apple Music only Headphones and Adapter!!
