Support for the latest Apple tv is like the stage manager on older iPads ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I bought the new Apple TV and was not really sure why I did. But now I am very happy! We love to sing Karaoke and this will be very cool.

And it seems most people don't understand this needs a lot of processor power. Voice will be excluded in real time. Problably all oder Apple TVs are not capable of it. Last years? Hm... maybe? But older Apple TVs for sure not.

It will be very interesting how good this works.

How could Apple issue a press releases saying it will work on any iPad/iPhone and then say it only works on the newest Apple TV 4K? IMHO this appears just to be a marketing gimmick to advertise the 3rd gen Apple TV.
And again that is not true. Apple says (down at "Availability"):

Apple Music Sing will be available on all compatible iPhone and iPad models as well as the new Apple TV 4K.

And they did not say yet which models are compatible.

But there is no need to do it on the fly. It could process it before you start playing it, might have to wait like 30 seconds or so before it starts.
It has to do it on the fly to sync with whatever you're singing into the iPhone. Plus my kids aren't gonna wait 30 seconds for the song to 'buffer' before they start yelling into the phone.

I didn’t mean it as 100% fact, as this feature isn’t out yet, but it the 2021 Apple TV should be able to run this.
Stop it. YOU DON'T KNOW THAT. Are you a computer engineer? You have no freakin' idea of what each chip is capable of. And yet you are spreading Apple hate.

How about the iPhone 14 and satellite SOS. MR posters were yelling and screaming that previous iPhone should have the same satellite capabilities. Then it was revealed that only the iPhone 14 had the chip necessary for satellite capabilities. Just how do you know that there isn't something similar going on here. Raw processing power doesn't mean everything. Thank goodness for the ignore capabilities of the forum.

Let me just check... The previous Apple TV 4K could play all manner of amazing whiz-pop games, but it can't scroll some text on the screen and play a music track at the same time? Okay, got it.

Wow I didn’t mean any hate. I‘m sorry I offended you

Pretty weak move by Apple. Fortunately I doubt anyone really cares about this.
I care a lot. I just bought the old one and our family loves karaoke. Bummer. Do I return the old and spring for the new?

Why would this feature need a lot of CPU? It's literally just putting lyrics on the screen and playing a version of the track with a separate vocal track?
Real-time scanning the music and muting the vocals. This is all algorithmic. Apple isn’t going to develop karaoke for every song they developed software that does it. And apparently needs an A13

So we don’t know why but we’ll put up a separate article about it anyway because it drives hate traffic. Sigh.

And LOL at thinking someone is going to buy a new Apple TV box just to get a karaoke feature.

Maybe but that’s not how they did it. They did it in the way that requires a better processor.

It matters to you? Then if you're within your return window I certainly would!

Not sure why Apple suddenly gives a big * to so many Apple TV customers. Almost every functionality for the Apple TV got to the oldest possible Apple TV. This functionality for sure would run on the pre-tvOS Apple TVs, unless they added some wild animations.

Apple being good for the environment? Nah, just obsolete old hardware after not being sold for 3 months.

If Apple is gonna release more functionality exclusively to latest gen Apple TVs the old generation is gonna be worthless pretty fast. If you thought about selling it on EBay after 2 years I don’t think you’ll fetch more than $ 5.
