Just did!So we don’t know why but we’ll put up a separate article about it anyway because it drives hate traffic. Sigh.
And LOL at thinking someone is going to buy a new Apple TV box just to get a karaoke feature.

I'm just saying that we don't know why it isn't supported on older equipment. Does't Apple make money from subs to Apple Music? Adding this feature to Apple Music may increase subscriptions. Perhaps more so that forcing sales of the newest Apple TV. We have to wait for more information to know the reason/motivations for not including it with older devices.Wow I didn’t mean any hate. I‘m sorry I offended you
Yes I saw that “compatible” at the end of press announcements, still it’s unusually vague of Apple once again, like when stage manager was introduced.I bought the new Apple TV and was not really sure why I did. But now I am very happy! We love to sing Karaoke and this will be very cool.
And it seems most people don't understand this needs a lot of processor power. Voice will be excluded in real time. Problably all oder Apple TVs are not capable of it. Last years? Hm... maybe? But older Apple TVs for sure not.
It will be very interesting how good this works.
And again that is not true. Apple says (down at "Availability"):
Apple Music Sing will be available on all compatible iPhone and iPad models as well as the new Apple TV 4K.
And they did not say yet which models are compatible.
I remember some Wii game that you could dance and sing, and it would even score you on how close you were to the lyrics and pitch. I might upgrade if it were like that.Oh cool. I remember a WinAmp plugin doing this in 1999.
Apple Music Sing
Time for me to replace my Apple TV 4K from 2017, I guess.
Yeah, but the world will deprived of my singing.Pretty weak move by Apple. Fortunately I doubt anyone really cares about this.
I don’t think so. As a recording artist / composer for the past 31 years. I can tell you that the processing power required to properly isolate vocal tracks or even generate stems of each major section of the music (percussion, harmony, background vocals etc.) and leave the rest of the bits in a decent state requires considerable processing. Far more than the chips are capable of “on the fly”. I would sooner believe the tracks are being served up in a stem separated state and that the processing being done is simply level adjustments.I think it probably removes lyrics "on-the-fly" or instantaneously... using ML
But if the A13 and the 3GB of RAM on the iPhone 11 is the bare minimum… why limit it to the M1 iPad Pro (the third gen 11” iPP) and up? What about an iPad 9th gen with an A13?I guess an A13? That's what is in the iPhone 11. The last gen Apple TV only has an A12.
So technically there might be a legitamite reason. With Apple's track record though it's probably just them being stingy.
Two Words: Neural Engine. It's unclear why only the latest Apple TV is supported, especially since Apple Music Sing is ideal on a large TV screen with friends and family gathered around. Compared to older models, the new Apple TV 4K has the A15 Bionic chip and support for HDR10+.

I care a lot. I just bought the old one and our family loves karaoke. Bummer. Do I return the old and spring for the new?
