What’s that reason? How does it explain the fact that Nokia (Finland), BlackBerry (Canada) and Samsung (South Korea) have been, at various times, leaders in world-wide mobile device markets? How about the fact that Alibaba (China) has more customers, is more profitable and growing faster than Amazon?

From my observation, these companies got where they are today because they are not afraid to challenge the status quo and upend the rules when necessary.

Take Uber for example. When it came to Singapore, it was a godsend to someone like myself who was frustrated with the state of taxis for a long time. And it was clear that such a derive would never come from the taxi industry itself, who had no incentive to improve.

The iPod was predicated on encouraging people to pirate music.

Companies like Nokia and blackberry were successful by making a faster horse. They iterated on what was already in the market, but didn’t really reinvent them, when you compare their products to what the iPhone would become. Even Samsung started by copying Apple products to a T.

To me, it’s the whole mindset. These non-American companies can only play within the rules. Rule breaking and rebelling against the system is just not in their DNA. There’s nothing wrong with that, and there’s still plenty of money to be made here, but you will see the difference in the type of products each releases.

I realize that in the Trump/Fox News information bubble, you get a grossly inflated picture of Trump’s support, but, by any conceivable objective measure, Obama is far more popular than Trump nationwide.

I like how you assume that I watch Fox News, when I don't. I much prefer Drudge Report, which links ALL news sources. Thanks though, but I think the only reason he was more "popular" was because people voted for him on color of his skin, rather than the content of his character. Have a nice day!

Don’t get me started about the last Western country who still used slaves (USA!).
I bet your grandparents had one!
My grandparents were born in the '20s, and NO, they didn't have a slave. Also, if you know about history, it was the Democrats who were proponents of slavery and slaves. Also, no one from the Civil War era is still alive, which is a BIG reason why the Civil War took place to begin with. Have a nice day!

My point was that the USA ended the slavery relatively late when compared to the others.
And even when it was ended in 1863, black people were still treated horribly when compared to the other countries around the world!

My grandparents were born in the early 40s... About the time my great-grandparents were liberating your county from the Germans.

Those were the Canadian who liberated the Netherlands... (and the Soviets did the most before the Americans joined at the end of the war).
Meanwhile in the USA, black people were not allowed to some schools and colleges and were treated like slaves!
Just go and ask your grannie....

Popular vote doesn’t determine the elections. California alone does not chose the president. And guess what, remove California from the popular vote, Trump has 4 million more votes. The Democrats enter the election at a huge advantage with electoral votes just from New York and California. The fact they can’t take advantage of that is beyond me.
Of course it doesn’t; that’s not what I was suggesting. The OP seems to have been deleted, it was about how many votes trump won.
Who said anything about California determining things? Regardless, blithely removing California from the count doesn’t work. I wouldn’t want anyone talking that way about South Carolina or Alabama, Kansas or Wyoming.

LOL. Welcome to the rest of the world. In Germany there has been a website where you could check which of the parties fits your values point by point before you vote for almost two decades.
The Green Party there is doing good.

Republican, Democrat, Green, Alien, Disembodied Ghost party, I don’t care. Apple needs to provide a way to turn off this force-fed political stuff in the News app.
Is not the Democrats and Republicans the living dead party?

The guide in a nutshell:

Candidate 1: Way left
Candidate 2: Further left
Candidate 3: Way out in left field, left
Candidate 4: Wow, seriously left
Candidate 5: Old white male
Candidate 6: Old while male

Really Macrumors, you deleted my post that originally said something like "Totally agree, Trump 2020" because either it was frivolous or it was a 1 word post. You are not rigged at all.
