It’s not the left who’s obsessed with identity politics, that’s a meme to deflect - the right is obsessed with *other people’s* identity and tries to control the dialogue by repeatedly churning up *settled* issues. All this going on about id politics is engaging in identity politics. It’s the dumbest criticism around. The dems aren’t about abortions so much as standing up for women’s rights and bodily autonomy, a position they wouldn’t have to take if you’d stop being wrongheaded. Same applies to LGBT issues. I'll solve all the issues with four changes.
1. Congressional term limits to 3 and terms of 3 years.
2. Age restrictions on all USA Gov. office holders > 35 < 70
3. President age limits > 35 < 70
4. Restriction on family holding office or cabinets position in same branch as other family. (no more dynasty change)
President is not the problem but a distraction, change congress to fix the issue.

Please understand much of the reason western Europe has such comfortable standards of living is because the United States subsidized your militaries during the cold war---you had the luxury of spending your tax dollars on free goodies rather than the military while we protected you. You'd think you'd show some gratitude, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You know what you don't see in the UK or Europe? Apple, Google, Amazon, etc., etc. You enjoy your electronic toys precisely because we have a market, capitalist economy that invents them; not a socialist one. The reason you don't have any innovation and breakthrough companies is because of your suffocating, bureaucratic administrative state and re-distributive tax model. And doing away with executive orders and administrative bodies, so laws and policies can be enacted by the duly elected legislature.
As it stands, the legislatures can be do-nothing and avoid responsibility, handing off their constitutional responsibility to other branches.
I didn't like Obama's executive orders and I don't like Trump's executive orders. We elect these idiots in Congress to pass bills; not parade around on cable TV and sleep with interns.
I think term limits might help with this--they'd certainly fix the problem of Congressman being worth next to nothing when they enter Congress but worth multi-millions when they exit.

It's a "Candidate Guide to the 2020 Democratic Debates", as it says in the article title. So it lists Democratic candidates. Last I checked, Trump is not one. They're doing this because the first Democratic debate was tonight, with the second tomorrow. Who is Trump debating to become the Republican candidate? Presumably they'll cover that series of debates as well.

I’m from Australia, and while there are things I think America could do to improve, in general you are 100% right. I laugh whenever I see some Pom rant about his NHS. The best medicine is available in the USA. The downside is that individuals have to pay for it.

Exactly! I first used Mojave when I got my $5K iMac Pro, and I was beyond shocked (and angry) that I couldn't remove the Apple News app from the machine- I can silence it, and control settings, but not REMOVE it. To me, it might as well be a Best Buy app on the desktop like my Windows computer came with years ago. This "News" app should be removable from these devices. One of the first times I felt betrayed by Apple in a long while.
Why are we in the US always so eager to declare our country the ‘best’ in the world.
Its a fine country, no doubt, but I think a lot of people who say that have barely even traveled to other US states, or checked out the ‘bad’ part of the very town they live in.
So without much actual research, we declare our country ‘the best’.
Seems to me that someone who boasts a lot is doing that to cover up their insecurity, or their low self esteem.

Apple today announced a Democratic presidential candidate guide for Apple News, offering users what it describes as "a timely, trusted and comprehensive look at the 20 individuals participating in the first Democratic debates."
Curated by a team of Apple News editors, the guide aims to be a one-stop shop for learning about each candidate and their policies, with information drawn from sources including ABC News, Axios, CNN, Fox News, NBC News, Politico, The Hill, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, TIME, USA Today, Vox and others.
The section will allow users to read about the candidates' biographies and experience, as well as notable moments and quotes, current positions on key issues, and videos, photos and recent coverage from a range of news sources.
In addition, Apple News will feature updates from the debate, with articles and video highlights from NBC News, including fact checking, reactions and key onstage moments and takeaways.
The Democratic debates are set to be hosted by NBC News, MSNBC and Telemundo in Miami, Florida, on June 26 and 27. Apple says the candidate guide will feature in the Top Stories section of the News app on iPhone, iPad and Mac from today, with continuous updates throughout the primary campaign.

Have we lost our civility? Political views were considered a private matter when I was growing up. I think social media is obviously misusing their platform to push their agenda. There's no civil discourse in showing your colors. It never ends well.
