At least we can read what Eddy Cue said, and that is very clear to me. No editorial input by Apple execs. Period.

If I sign a multi million dollar contract, then I know what I am getting into, and set out rules and expectations. Apparently Apple did not. Twice already.

Yikes, I don't see this being a channel for kids content. If they're going to only have feel good stories, I'm not sure this is going to launch well. I for one enjoy shows with more of an edge. Homeland is great but it's violent and I'm fine with that.

Still nothing for me to get me to sign up to Apple+ or to bother getting a Apple TV because of LG being a dick not adding it to their 2017 TVs. Even Netflix is becoming like over priced cable with nothing but reality shows and still no answer if we will get Mindhunters season 3.

Disney+, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBOMax and Shudder seems like the few streaming service that understand their customers.

Wonder if Road Runner and Coyote would make the cut?

I see where you're going with that. Wiley Coyote constantly being "killed" by Road Runner, magically reappearing as thought he's invincible. But it's a cartoon without blood, guts and glorification of guns. Guns are for chicken-**** that can't use their fists or brains. No, they just launch projectiles at defenceless people from a safe distance. It really is pathetic. Guns are for hunting, war (not that I support war at all!), and clay pigeons.

We might not be, but at least we can read what Eddy Cue said, and that is very clear to me. No editorial input by Apple execs. Period.

That's not what Cue said. Read more carefully beyond the politicalese speech.

"I saw the comments that myself and Tim were writing notes on the scripts and whatever," said Cue. "There's never been one note passed from us on scripts, that I can assure you. We leave the folks [alone] who know they're doing."

The above does not exclude that:
1) Administration gave a set of general guidelines
2) There is an administration-guided committee that reviews the shows and their scripts.
3) Who are the "folks who know what they're doing?". Editors? Producers? Writers? Apple delegates? Who?

What Cue said is that they are not reviewing the scripts, which I do believe as I assume they have other stuff to do. This does not exclude editorializing. It's like Rupert Murdoch. Do you think he reads and approves all the articles in his newspapers? No. But he sets the line and tone. Various editors, journalists, committees adapt to his vision, and editorialize accordingly. Same is happening here. Do you honestly think that Apple is signing blank checks?

In the current climate of shootings nearly every day, it's probably not best to make a TV series glorifying violence against people you don't agree with.
Why not? Last I checked they are still airing the "news" on the acronym networks which are 8000% responsible for all of it.

Here we go. This is EXACTLY why this streaming service from Apple is going to fail and fail hard. If they can't deliver GoT, Breaking Bad etc type content (and NOTHING so far has indicated that they have any interest in doing so) then there is nothing even remotely compelling about Apple's "offering".

People want mature, GoT content, not the watered-down bull **** content Apple has.

Wow, this really seems like a management failure. If Apple wants to keep everything family friendly that is their choice, but that should have clearly been communicated very early on to whoever is in charge of bidding on shows etc.

From the show this was based off, and the description it should have been very apparent that it was going to be violent. Why would they have ever even bid on it in the first place? Same thing with the Dr. Dre show. Anyone who knows anything about his life knows that a show about it would include drugs, gangs, and violence, why would they have ever even thought of moving forward with it at all?

I’ve never watched one minute of GoT. I don’t need gratuitous sex and violence to be entertained. Having said that I don’t know why Apple ever bid on this show in the first place.

Actually it's an amazing show about power struggle and how violence and sex are used for power games.

That’s a business decision firstly, and then gets to morals and convictions and all that afterwards.

Disney would never back this show either. But why did it come to so late of a stage to cancel? Why didn't they pass on the series before a single dime was spent, and after it became publicly known that Apple was producing it? And it's not the first, see "Vital Signs".

Seems obvious that Apple wants this violent adult content from their platform, but when it comes time, Apple gets scared and runs.

This service becomes less interesting by the day.
Hopefully "For All Mankind" will be decent enough.

Decent, sure. But so, so lazy. There have been many excellent, thorough documentaries about the golden age of the space program (including the most recent, must-see Apollo 11 film), so why does Apple feel compelled to make yet another?

Because the idea of revisiting the space race, inverting the game field (Soviets land first) is interesting. However I already envision,
  • Space race (1960's tech) will be a minor part
  • Most of it will be a "let's colonize the moon first" thing with huge tech jumps
  • It's clear that they will create an all-female Top Gun-like side story. This could be either great or infinitely idiotic. I hope the writers know what they're doing with this.
  • In the end, Americans will win or there will be an idyllic ending.
