Hey if Apple doesn’t want that type of show, it’s their branding. Just like Disney gets to decide what shows they want for their Disney branding, why can’t apple?

In the current climate of shootings nearly every day, it's probably not best to make a TV series glorifying violence against people you don't agree with.

Agreed. The media is over-saturated with violence, anger, disrespectful/antisocial behaviour, etc. at the expense of constructive, positive and educational content. I strongly feel we really don't need more of this stuff, especially if its primary aim to popularity is by simply pushing the violence angle further and further (where's the limit). There's enough violence out there in the real world (covered disproportionately in the news) that I don't see the need for (so much of) the fictional kind.

Good riddance.

So was this like a dark comedy? I had to do a double take when I read what it was about, seemed a little edgy for the sake of edgy à la Adult Swim ten years ago.

“...development on the show was ended due to creative differences between Apple and the producers...

Apple iTunes chief Eddy Cue recently said that Apple execs are not involved in the development of Apple TV+ shows and do not have editorial input.

I saw the comments that myself and Tim were writing notes on the scripts and whatever," said Cue. "There's never been one note passed from us on scripts, that I can assure you. We leave the folks [alone] who know they're doing.
"

Right!

Cutting ties with a show is completely different from providing notes. In fact, Apple cutting ties with shows completely is evidence that they are NOT trying to fine tune the content.

The South Park guys could definitely have some fun with this (as they did with Netflix). Tim Apple and Eddie in their own mini series...

South Park already did an episode on Steve Jobs. He's more their speed than Tim or Eddie.

Of course they can. But we can also decide that we don't want to subscribe to a service that's offering nothing but family-friendly fluff programming.

Stand up move by Apple to stop producing violence. And we wonder where the active shooters come from. Stop making it look cool and substantiated, Hollywood. Violence is not entertainment.

For sure. Apple knows their audience better than any forum arm chair media programming executive. They'll make a ton of money.

wow. what about violence against non-white, non-christian foreign populations? is it okay to glorify the terrorizing and murder of people around the world who aren't deemed loyal to the american empire? is "American Sniper" okay? because if you think apple should avoid content "glorifying violence against people you don't agree with", somebody better get busy pulling content from iTunes.

on a more practical note...this is a great reason to avoid Apple TV+: sanitized, bland programming that will be of no interest to anyone but the flyovers.

lol..good title, but i could imagine why for this show..

I can this this "control"is gonna get Apple into hot water, and there not off to a good start..

They may have a long list, but expect it to get shorter, if Apple can't change their ways..

Apple music has an "explicit" option which works just fine... I dunno why you can't do the same for TV shows and movies. Perhaps store this separate somehow and reference, or just do some 'magic behind the scenes"

(If there is one thing Apple is famous for, it's "magic :))

This is exactly why Apple will fail with their content stuff. Worry about larger brand perception. We don’t need another Disney that white washes everything. HBO and Netflix won’t have anything to fear with Apple

I really don't think it is a good idea to be shelving series or movies because of how Apple wants to be perceived. If they truly want to compete with the likes of Showtime, Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC they need to unleash this service without restrictions like this or they've got no chance.

It's no wonder that MacRumors forum members claim Apple can't innovate anymore - - it appears that their definition of innovation is copying the most popular existing shows/products.

Lets be honest, we know apples streaming service will be a dud because Apple are far too safe with what they will show and what they will produce. Pretty much all of the most critically acclaimed TV of the past 10 years has some themes that are not "family friendly" and Apple won't make things like that.

Honestly, thats fine but when other streaming providers do they will be lost in the competition. There are already borderline too many competing services for most people to subscribe to.

Disney would never back this show either. But why did it come to so late of a stage to cancel? Why didn't they pass on the series before a single dime was spent, and after it became publicly known that Apple was producing it? And it's not the first, see "Vital Signs".

Seems obvious that Apple wants this violent adult content from their platform, but when it comes time, Apple gets scared and runs.
It feels more like a case of pulling the plug because of recent events in the US. The latest mass shootings have been getting a lot of media coverage and this might have caused ‘the powers that be’ to make this call.

Just a thought from an observer on a small island off the west coast of Europe. ☘️

The more I hear about apple’s tv service, the less it interests me. But, I wish them well with their target market. Not all things have to be for all people.
I still think it’s far too early to make a decision on TV+. It will have to include other content apart from the Apple-produced stuff we’ve been told about. I’m taking a ‘wait and see’ approach. If there’s a free trial period then I’m definitely going to give it a ‘spin’. Nothing to lose that way. I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised!

Or maybe join the rest of civilized world and instead of blaming TV/games, introduce common sense gun laws.

They’re 6 billion and counting in the hole. Forget ton of money, breaking even is the first goal. It’ll take years and that’s if they make all the right moves.

Sorry, dude. I do not know about "Central US" but violence in film and books has been with us for a long, long time.

Only when military, repeating-discharge weapons with magazines in the 10's if not 100's became readily available, then we got the spree of murderous attacks on the population.

We stand as the single nation where the number of these weapons exceeds the population by a geometric factor.

Do not believe me? -- take a walk on the Google search engine. And educate yourself.

Hate to break it to you, but the AR-15 has been sold commercially since 1963.

That's OK. That has never stopped Apple before.

Apple was in the music player hole when it introduced iPod. (who needs a thousand songs in they pocket?)

And iPhone. (who want's a glass keyboard?)

And Watch. (it's going to flop in the watch market)

Again Apple's has a few decades of market data characterizing their customers and what they like.
