I’ve never watched one minute of GoT. I don’t need gratuitous sex and violence to be entertained. Having said that I don’t know why Apple ever bid on this show in the first place.

apparently fictional shows about mass shootings are out now. Guess you missed the point where this was decided (for us). It doesn’t bother me either since I don’t watch crap like this but I think it’s another reason why Apple shouldn’t want to be in the original content business.

Sorry, dude. I do not know about "Central US" but violence in film and books has been with us for a long, long time.

Only when military, repeating-discharge weapons with magazines in the 10's if not 100's became readily available, then we got the spree of murderous attacks on the population.

We stand as the single nation where the number of these weapons exceeds the population by a geometric factor.

Do not believe me? -- take a walk on the Google search engine. And educate yourself.

oh sheez...

In the current climate of shootings nearly every day, it's probably not best to make a TV series glorifying violence against people you don't agree with.
I guess we better stop making video games

Here we go. This is EXACTLY why this streaming service from Apple is going to fail and fail hard. If they can't deliver GoT, Breaking Bad etc type content (and NOTHING so far has indicated that they have any interest in doing so) then there is nothing even remotely compelling about Apple's "offering".

People want mature, GoT content, not the watered-down bull **** content Apple has.
I hope it doesn't fail because I'm seriously considering subscribing but it can't be all PG content. I'm a big boy so I can deal with scary TV shows

Because Apple is the only place one can get TV shows? Also where in this story does it say who pulled the plug? For all we know it was the guys hired to run the TV+ division.

lol? What the acutal f* are you talking about? Violence is everywhere all the time. Go waatch kids tv then.
On the other hand, Apple has always said that their mission is to leave this world better than when they entered it. Apple has made tech and healthcare better already. I am not saying that non-violent content is always better than violent content but it sounds like you’re only interested in the status quo. Maybe Apple is interested in something a little better?

This is exactly what I was thinking. Commenters on here are missing the point decrying SJWs or whatever. Apple is not Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu, and Disney isn’t any of them either — their content will reflect on the company. That’s it. Apple — with their CEO at least somewhat visible in humanitarian efforts and certain events and incidents that happen in the US — most likely don’t want their company being in the business of glorifying a show with white men shooting millennials due to disagreements anymore because of current events in the US. That’s a business decision firstly, and then gets to morals and convictions and all that afterwards.

Then Apple should not start a TV network, this is going to be worse than iTunes+. Apple going politically correct is a very bad thing imho, it does ease my decision to sell some Apple stock to fund my other hobbies. I guess that's a good thing. :(

I understand what you are saying, but I seriously doubt the root cause of all the recent violence has anything thing to do with movies and TV.

There has been violence in movies for a very long time, just look at all the action movies of the 80's.

BS. Intentional homicide rate in the US is 5 times higher than in Europe. Violence is not everywhere all the time.

Sounds like a smart move. I don't have an issue with Apple not producing overly-violent shows.

I don’t either.

Don’t like Apple’s position? Change the channel. Easy. Or on this forum, have an adorable whine.

I actually think it's a good position. I like horror, violence, etc. in some content that I watch, but it can be overdone and take away from the story line. If Apple can actually create good stories without having to reduce themselves to violence, I think they'll have a quality service. That being said, what I have seen thus far doesn't really interest me. We'll see though.

Apple should stick to Nature programs (NGC/Discovery like) or Climate change documentaries if they have these kind of boundaries.

are they sticking to same norms in Apple music supported content which has gore/adult and what not..?

If Apple is going to avoid anything controversial, edgy, and try to make every show PC the whole Apple service is going to fail unless the progressives all subscribe. ill stick with Netflix

The more I hear about apple’s tv service, the less it interests me. But, I wish them well with their target market. Not all things have to be for all people.

It has. But it depends on the message. In the 80’s action movies the message was clear: good guys fighting bad guys. Good almost always wins.

But modern shows and movies can show violence just for fun or even romanticize the criminals. There’s even a whole genre of horror movies filled with cruelty and violence.

Also in the 80’s there were no PC games where a user is shooting people left and right and it’s displayed quite realistically with blood etc. Today violence is mainstream in PC games. It’s being played and watched by millions, and most of those millions are young people.

Over the years the popular culture became much more tolerant to violence and that’s not a good thing.

I probably wouldn't watch it and don't care whether it is a good fit for Apple.

But I hope they put it back on the market to sell it to another provider so it doesn't just get locked up in Apple's vault never to have a shot at being made.

Interesting that they canned the Dr. Dre show. I guess they don't want people to know about Dr. Dre's history of violence, given that Apple now owns the Beats brand.

See above.

If Apple does not want gun violence and drug use on its TV shows, I do not know why they ordered a series based on the life of Dr. Dre in the first place.

I'm not sure why this is controversial. I'm not sure that it's really transferable from Israeli politics and traditions. Making them two Vietnam vets doesn't work. Maybe Iraq

Sorry, my question “Don’t like Apple’s position” was rhetorical - not directed at you. I’m in agreement with you!

I agree. Why did they do that? Perhaps a VP somewhere ordered it, and it got nixed at the top.

Or maybe they just thought it wasn't viable after delving deeper into it.
