I'm kinda surprised. iPhone 12 seemed to be one of those "super upgrade" years, and the iPhone 13 line seemed quite successful too with it being backordered everywhere for months. You'd think sales this year would be expected to be more dull given how well those years sold, especially if the SoC on the 14 models are supposed to be the same as the 13 models (though the general public doesn't care/know about SoCs at all) and if there are minimal changes otherwise.

I guess Apple is thinking that the 14 Max model will sell a lot (bigger phone at cheaper price) and the removal of the notch will bring in sales?

They have the customers who are willing to pay in any economy.
And that’s the advantage of staying in the high end, premium market. The bottom of the market is for low profit OEMs like Samsung who starve when the economy stumbles. Yes, Samsung, whose majority of sales are mid-to-low end.

I upgraded from from the 6s Plus to the 12 Pro so I wonder if the consistently huge demand is bolstered by people with iPhones 6s, 7, and 8 finally taking the upgrade plunge?

I think there’s something to that. I believe more customers are using their phones at least three years before upgrading, often more. The iPhone has gotten so good now that upgrading every other year is totally unnecessary for most users.

What does that really matter besides on a sheet of paper? How power hungry can phone apps really be. Never thought „oh my instagram opens to slowly“. Like I said, phones have peaked. Now it’s time to try out some fun gimmicks. Do I need a phone that has blinking leds on the back? Not really but I still have the urge to get a Nothing phone. I get that priorities differ by person and that’s good. Otherwise there would be no innovation
At least your admitting the new Samsung phone is a gimmick (no matter how much Verge commentators try to justify it).

I am kind of intrigued by the new Samsung Fold 4 tbh. I am getting bored with iPhone and would like to try something new. The iPhone has peaked and it’s more of the same with a better camera (nothing wrong with that!) I am personally just bored of it. It also has many things, that take it ahead. Finger print sensor on the side and a under the screen camera
Ok. Take care.

It looks like I’ll be selling my iPhone 13 Pro and going back to the 12 Pro. I just held the 12 Pro and that lighter weight was damned noticeable!

Now, not sure if I’ll “upgrade” from the 12 Pro to the 14 non-Pro. I don’t seem to make much use of the Pro features but I appreciate ProMotion.

iPhone 14 will be crashed and burnt. No 14 is bad luck in Chinese. Most of the Chinese won't get that. Unless Apple decides to change the naming this year.

It's the Android software that's not appealing tho. You'll be back to an iPhone, LOL.
Agreed. Switched over once and regretted it after just a few months.

Android phones may be "cooler", but the whole Android ecosystem is flawed and broken. After a year when even the best phones would undoubtedly lose the "flagship" status, you are at the mercy of the manufacturer to get bug fixes, even critical security ones. Sure, you can look for ones running stock Android, but those tend not to be the "cool" ones.

You’re going to come back. iPhone is a very very sticky product line.

iPhone 14…it should be interesting. I have no doubt it would have at least the same demand for the 13 last year. It could do better since there’s people waiting to trade up every few or three years.

People forget that Apple was selling record amounts of iPhones in 2010 in a much worse economy. I remember that waiting list of the iPhone 4 was crazy. Basically Apple is recession PROOF.

Say what you will, but I miss Android every day. My previous phone was an Android. I’m on iOS currently.

Android is seriously such a good OS. It was a subpar iOS alternative years ago, but at this point it is just killer.
