Mr. Jobs,
I am predicting:
Aluminium re-designed MacBooks
New MacBook Pros
New MacBook Air
Maybe new iMac
New Tablet
Mac OS 10.5.6
And less likely: New Mac upgradeable mid-range tower.

it seems this media event is all about laptops, so forget anything else than laptops. mac mid range tower is totally unlikely.

Actually buying one of these suckers

Hello all. Quick question... assuming Jobs announces "available immediately" How soon until I can expect to get one of these with rebates off Amazon?? How about Macmall?? Anywhere but the Apple Store?? I'm not a student, and looking for a discount.

Can't wait...hopefully not all the goods have been leaked already and there are still some surprises left...

OFFICIAL PREDICTION: No mid-range tower. No powerbook G5.

I called my local apple store today to ask a few questions about the new release. I don't know if they are trained to play dumb- but she had NO idea what I was talking about.

Told her her Big Boss, Steve Jobs was releasing new models of notebooks tomorrow in Cupertino. She said she has no info on it, no info on whether I could go and see one in the store tomorrow???!!!!

Would they really tell people to play that dumb?

I used to work for apple. Employees aren't to discuss or speculate any unreleased products. Simply because if it is not on apple's website then it does not exist. Any discussion would be completely misleading. Apple employees are not told a single word about unreleased products. Apple employees find out after an event. Computers rarely were available same day in the store. Definitely not on floor display for at least a few days. Also too we were trained not to discuss any unreleased products or comment because a reporter could be asking the questions looking for specific answers (all of which apple retail does not have any information).

They're hilarious.

I called the Apple store here in Florida and asked whether the new notebooks were going to be in store tomorrow or if we just had to pre order them.

He said "What new notebooks?" and I said, "There's an update tomorrow."
He said "Anything you may hear is pure speculation."
So I said... "Well there's an event planned tomorrow."
And he said "Like I said, anything you hear is pure speculation if it's not up on the apple page."

SO I was just like "Yeahhhhhhh. okay. sure." He's like "Thank you for calling! goodbye!"

HAHA! It was like pulling teeth and I really wanted to just call him out on acting like he didn't know anything. But I didn't.

Silly geniuses.

Do you think buying an airport extreme right now is a bad idea? It would be cool to see an update on them but i haven't heard anything about that. I have an old linksys router that is working fine (just slow), but I want the print sharing ability with my windows based computers and my girlfriends macbook.

The new 13" Aluminium MacBook might be considered as an "13" MacBook Pro".

No, it will be a 13" MB. I just don't understand your logic of changing the name when they are obviously directed toward different markets.

The MB has fewer ports, less expandable ram, smaller slower HDD, integrated graphics instead of discrete graphics, lower res and smaller displays, slower cpus, etc. etc. It is not just the aluminum or plastic that differentiates the lines. Just like the MBA is not a MBP either even though it has been AL since day one.

Hmmmm

This all looks promising, but surely we all want to see a major weight decrease, increased battery life, user removable HDD on MBP, larger RAM capacity, quad core, some decent speakers........ did I mention a weight saving, oh and 500GB HDD as standard

I would love to see Apple run by God. The MBA would be ultraportable, the MB would actually be entry level, and the MBP would be professional. Instead of sorta kinda ultraportable, entry level, and professional. And I bet God would give me a tablet with the sensitivity of a wacom.

Your wishes will come true. One Tuesday not too distant.

The soonest is next day, most likely a few days. Rebates??? Do you see any rebates on NEW products ever? I think you will have to wait till product reaches midlife in order to get some kinda discount. On the other hand you will have all kind discounts for older models. Macmall usually gives you few bucks off, but that is because they DO charge shipping and handling and taxes too, SO cheapest place probably amazon...

So excited but hesitant

This is my first post, i check macrumors every day and i am so excited for the new macbooks, but questioning myself... I realized i can only sell my old 2.0 intel core 2 Duo for only 700 - 800 on ebay. Thus i'm not sure if the new macbooks will be a big enough update to spend that much money. Only a case design and the possibility of NO FIREWIRE PORT makes me second guess buying it.. STILL SO EXCITED!!

Eh well I doubt you're going to buy between now and tomorrow morning?? Just wait to make sure.... then buy.

Where's my 12" Aluminum MacBook Pro, 4 GB ram, 256 video card, LED screen, blue ray burner, 3G, and kitchen sink, $599???

Looking forward to tomorrow! A day many buyers have been holding out for. Congrats to those who've held out. Your wait is almost over.

Case Leaks
I'd say these are real (except for the video).

Brick, Glass, Two Tone
I see two-tone on the MacBooks only. Glass trackpad: Yeah, although I don't see a display or anything fancy on it.

I'm not either way on this. But I expect it to be a separate line, if released.

- Blu Ray support from Kevin Rose, though we heard that Rose described his source as a "bad" one during the taping, so didn't offer much confidence in the possiblity
I don't see Blu-ray on the notebooks.
The lack of rumors on these tells me that I'd have to say no. But it is a last-minute one, and they are generally of higher accuracy. The thing I'm not sure about is how three or four hardware releases can take up 1.5 hours. "Here's the new redesigned MacBook. It's aluminum + plastic, with [these specs], starts at $[(x)xxx], and is coming [date]." Unless Steve Jobs goes on and on for an hour about Apple + Intel + NVIDIA and the "brick." A new product (cheap notebook / tablet) would also take time.

Thats like so 20th century :)

I have barely used an optical drive, or floppy since a very long time. Wasted space for me.
All my tunes are either vinyl or mp3's, and I wouldnt dream of renting a DVD as the closest video rentals is Blockbuster, and they get on my nerves.
OSX updates are the only thing I occasionally use it for.

Well, I've spent almost half my life in the 21st century. And I couldn't do without the optical drive. If you so want the slightly reduced weight of no optical drive, get a MBA. I'll personally hope for some thicker notebooks that can actually perform, unlike the notebooks of the last 3 years.
