I'm really excited, but also extremely nervous. If Apple does drop Firewire from the 13" Macbook and/or doesn't offer Firewire in a small enclosure < $1500 I'll have to look at other options... like I did for my Desktop when Apple continued to ignore the users who need a true Desktop (not a mini using notebook parts, an all-in-one using notebook parts, or a > $2300 workstation) and I couldn't wait any longer.

I love the OS and have owned about two dozen different Macs over the years, but their hardware lately has been extremely disappointing to me.

16:10. I still dont get where you got youre "ITS GOING TO BE 16:9!!!!!!!" rants.

Yeah, really. 16:10 is better for those who use their computers for jobs in which they need every pixel they can get. If you want a 16:9 display so badly, get an external in that ratio. I know that's not a good solution, but neither is bitching about something that's rather silly and will never happen.

P.S. Watch Apple come out with 16:9 displays tomorrow just to piss me off and make me look stupid... ;)

"Share File" feature coming back tomorrow???

You know, the MobileMe feature that was dropped. We were promised it would return. Now I'm experiencing an error where I see the link to share files inside of idisk.

I just posted about this here:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/579843/

anyone think it's likely, given the error I'm experiencing?

Perhaps tomorrow will finally bring a Mac notebook worthy of replacing my 12" PB.. 4+ years old and still going strong. IMO, the best little notebook Apple has produced.

Lol

I hear ya buddy...lol:D

I'm really hoping Apple puts in a high resolution display. 15" at 1680x1050 would rock, 1920x1200 would be better. No more 1440x900 Apple! Please!

There's a *cough*"thin"*cough* chance that the MacBook Pros will actually be a pleasant surprise rather than an expected disappointment, spec wise, but who knows.

I kind of hope Jobs will just do some sort of silly little monkey dance and all that will happen is that the laptops get minor upgrades. Wouldn't that be funny to watch? Oh, would MacRumors be filled with forum tears and complaints! Anyway...

Just my weird sense of humor.

Excited and sick to my wallet...?

Well, I really do not care what size screen they come with, glass or no glass trackpad, firewire or not, blu-ray; not all that interested. Just want a good product that's runs well for college... However, I would REALLY like to know the price points and configs for each.

What is the deal with people wanting super high resolutions on such tiny screens? I don't think I could handle a 1680x1050 on a 15" display; when I first got my iMac, I almost couldn't stand that resolution on a 20" screen.

Even if he does show a 16:9 laptop I wont feel dumb as there has been NO indication that they would be that ratio nor is there good reason to make it that ratio.

Christmas night in the Appleland!

Tonight is the Christmas night in the Appleland! All the kids are wondering - what will they find under the Christmas tree come tomorrow morning? Did Santainaturtleneck get their wish lists right?! And then, of course, there are naughty boys and girls who already peeked at their gifts when nobody was looking! :D

One more thing: Docking station

I looked closely at the leaked case pix, and I looked closely at the docking station patent filing and I'm convinced we will see dockable Mac portables tomorrow, and that an integrated display/docking station will be announced.

I'm not in the market for any kind of laptop/notebook at the moment but I'm going to be very interested to see what Apple unveil tomorrow:

A) Apple events are always interesting and I always love seeing their new designs

B) There's always something to divide opinion like the dropping of the high-capacity iPod Classic that'll be debated

C) Most interesting of all will be the price points: will they release this alleged $800 notebook? Is that what the no-Firewire shots are of? A slimmed down, low-spec entry-level laptop?

D) I'll be gobsmacked if the AppleTV rumour is true. I just honestly can't see it.

It'll all be underway 6pm my time tomorrow so I shall be eating my tea and hammering F5 on a couple of sites :D

Honestly, what is the point of a laptop with a docking station? Wouldn't there be gigantic cooling problems with something like that?

"Mac Soda has heard that iLife ’09 and iWork ’09 are going to be announced this Tuesday at the MacBook event. Similar to last year, when Steve introduced the iMac, and then branched off into the iLife and iWork updates, Steve is expected to do the same thing this year, announcing the iLife/iWork update with the introduction of the new laptops."

This is complete ********. No new versions of iLife or iWork tomorrow. -- John Gruber

I'm with you on that. I'll even go as far to say the tool who created MacSoda is basically re-wording previous rumors to get some hits on his blog. Anyone can do that.

Sucka don't got nothin on AI!
