Apple Care

Still new to the apple thing, but i wanted to know i live in Dubai, will i be able to get applecare?

- Announces new Macbook Pro, same styling as the new Macbook, Firewire is on this device. Reduced pricing also. But still premium pricing strategy (no massive price cuts to below current market level). Available with SSD.

You believe Apple will continue to charge almost twice the market value for the specs of the MBP?

I don't like the sound of that one bit.

Add me to the "I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!" list.

It'll be nice to get a replacement for my PB G4 and it's 24-7 noise (the fan that spins at 10000 rpm constantly may be somewhat to blame though).
:D

Same here. Though somehow I suspect the latest heat generating monsters are probably even louder to cool down than our little G4s :D

Well, soon all will be revealed. If all people have to whinge about is lack of Firewire on the MB, I'll be happy - there are far bigger things they could screw up!

Biggest on my don't-you-dare list are glossy-only (or matt on build-to-order only) on the MBP, and some ridiculous release date like December/January.

I looked closely at the leaked case pix, and I looked closely at the docking station patent filing and I'm convinced we will see dockable Mac portables tomorrow, and that an integrated display/docking station will be announced.

I hope you are wrong.

Isn't it possible that Apple files patents just to throw rumors and competitors off the track?

Wow.... I can't believe the amount of threads / news / rumors / stories whoch are now posted about the October 14th / MacBook (Pro) event...!

And every new story gets tons of replies!

This event must be the most Mac-rumor-covered-anticipated-event ever... even surpassing the PPC to Intel switch.

Just gimme a Alu MacBook with nVidia grfx and FireWire, and I'll be VERY HAPPY. :apple::)

docking station

Honestly, what is the point of a laptop with a docking station? Wouldn't there be gigantic cooling problems with something like that?

I'm writing this at my desk looking at a 23" display and using a regular keyboard. They're connected to a 17" MBP sitting off to the side taking up space, with 7 cables sticking out the sides. A docking station makes a lot of sense to me.

As for cooling, one of the concepts in the patent application is that cooling could be integrated into the docking station.

It'll all be underway 6pm my time tomorrow so I shall be eating my tea and hammering F5 on a couple of sites :D

Yeah, same here..

I can't wait guys. I mean, I am so anxious of what we are going to see tomorrow...

It would be sooo cool if the notebooks that will be presented tomorrow have nothing to do with the pics we had these days.. :D But actually get something really, really much better than those we expect to get after seing these pics..
Jobs: "Before five days or so I leaked some pics on the internet you know.. Suddenly all the mac related sites were on fire.. (laughs) Oh, God that was hillarius.."

Now its not funnny any more..:p

:apple:4ever

I'm really hoping Apple puts in a high resolution display. 15" at 1680x1050 would rock, 1920x1200 would be better. No more 1440x900 Apple! Please!

14" MacBook with 1366x768 resolution
16" MacBook Pro with 1600x900 resolution
and
18" MacBook Pro with 1920x1080 resolution
would all be just fine.

Beware Of Revision A products!

<buys Apple stock> :p

Seriously though, my Macbook spent cumulative 7 months away from me because it was being repaired somewhere. Now I'm just fixing everything myself wit parts from eBay. It's cheaper (out of warranty now) and less frustrating and I don't have to stand in line for an hour and a half just to deposit/pick up/get status info on my Macbook.

Don't buy at Gravis in Germany. The online Apple store is cheaper, faster, and nicer handling warranty stuff.

docking station

I hope you are wrong.

Maybe. But the mysterious new port matches up with the patent drawings in a way that doesn't make sense for any other conceivable function.

apple brick

It seems like a lot of the rumors regarding the mac brick involve a new manufacturing process using lasers that allows for an easier transition from producing one product to the next. If that is true then couldn't it also be possible that all the leaked pictures of the new macbook casings are just fakes that were leaked keep all the rumor sites busy. In the past Apple used to issue cease and desist orders for things like that and it seems odd that all of the sudden high quality pictures of a major product redesign leaked days before an apple event go unchallenged. It would make sense that Apple got tired of trying to squash the rumors and use them to their advantage instead. It would also be a good way to showcase the versatility of the new brick manufacturing process. My guess is that whatever is unveiled tomorrow looks nothing like the leaked photos. (personally I'm hoping for a mac tablet)

hmmm..... this will be interesting to see. Not sure what all to expect, although I'm not so sure that I care at this point seeing as I have a 1.5-ish y.o. MB that has no problems.

I do think it is funny that people are crying about what the leaked photo's mean for the lineup as a whole. There is a very good possibility that we only got a peek at 1/2 of the line-up, as is perhaps a near-currently speced and ported MB and of course the 17" MBP. And of course these could be old case designs or something. Who knows.
As has been said, we just have to wait for the old man Jobs to get up there.
I have a feeling that I will be a bit distracted during a few of my classes tomorrow, constantly hitting whatever site has the best info.

Tomorrow is going to be the best day since I got my MacBook Air...
Time to go Pro!:D

Judging by the current MBP lineup, you'll be going "Macbook Thin". There is nothing "Pro" about the current MBP. It's simply a MB with dedicated graphics and a larger screen. One can hope that either this will change (that the MBP actually becomes a "Pro" machine), or that the "Pro" lineup disappears because it is so similar to the Macbook that there is not enough difference.

Or Apple should could drop the "Pro" name, thus unifying the laptop line.

I doubt that they are filing patents to throw us off. They are filing them so that in the event that they can/do take the idea out of the labs and into active development, they already have that nice little patent in there pocket protecting them (and saving them time later in the build process)

Lol, keep pulling the 16:9 out of no where. I guess if you say it enough and adamantly defend this on no evidence it must be true?

Me too.
I actually hope the "real" MacBook Pros were not leaked yet, if Apple did make them.

Yeah. The current speculated MBP images appear to be just as thin as before, so there's no way Apple could actually put some decent specs into them.

So if we about 19 hours left before the special event. I guess in about 21 hours people will be complaining because their unreal expectations were once again not met.

Umm, this is macrumors and has not changed; right?
