I was wondering what people think about buying rev A products from apple and how long they suggest to wait before picking up the newest model. I was thinking of waiting a few weeks after they are released and seeing if there are any glaring problems with the new MB's. But I have to say its far easier to say I'm going to wait than actually doing it:D

Any thoughts on performance of the Intel chips that will be used compared to the currently shipping mbp's? Should we expect a minor speed improvement or a major one?

I doubt that they are filing patents to throw us off. They are filing them so that in the event that they can/do take the idea out of the labs and into active development, they already have that nice little patent in there pocket protecting them (and saving them time later in the build process)
That is kind of obvious. I realize that patents are there to protect, but I was suggesting that some patents may be meant to throw rumors and especially competitors off.

So if we about 19 hours left before the special event. I guess in about 21 hours people will be complaining because their unreal expectations were once again not met.

I'd like to know what these "unreal expectations" are?

Dedicated graphics and no combo drive in the MB are not only perfectly reasonable, but it's shocking they don't already exist. Wanting the MBP thicker so it could actually have some decent specs and be a cool machine for one is not unreasonable. Wanting Apple to discontinue their high prices for standard PC laptop hardware is not unreal. Wanting some dedicated graphics in the MBP that actually perform for a machine whose second word is "Pro" is not unreal.

Some people say that REV A has had their problems. I just switched this year, so none of mine are rev a. that being said..... I would get the applecare anyway....

What about OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard"? Will they give us more info on a better date when Snow Leopard will come out, maybe go more in depth in the new features?
And the push notification service would me nice, they are a month late.

Given that the case leaks we've seen all appear to be 13" and 15" models, how confident are people that we will see an updated 17" (or 18 if that floats your boat) model tomorrow as well? Or is the 17" going the way of the 160GB iPod Classic?

I do plan to get applecare but my fear is having to ship off my computer for long periods of time, or will they just take my old one and give me a new one without the problems? I have applecare on my current MB but never had to use it so far for anything major so I am unsure of what to expect. Thanks.

15 inch macbook would be the best change for me, 13 is just to small for those wanting to use the macbook as their main comp.

how long is it usually till the video of the event comes out? Debatting waiting for it

What we expect to see:

• Macbook Pro - new keyboard, overhauled case design, refined (major inspiration from Macbook Air), SSD options, magnetic latch, reconfigured ports, black bezel around the screen, possible aspect ratio changes, possible increased multi-touch gestures, possible larger trackpad

• Macbook - overhauled case design, move to aluminum, possible addition of multi-touch gestures to trackpad, possible larger trackpad, reconfigured ports, general attempt at a more high-end feel

• Macbook Air - briefly mentioned, spec updates, overall performance increase, storage boosts, possible but unlikely case refinements, possible price reduction

Across the board:

• Aggressive price points
• Unified look across entire notebook line (Aluminum)
• Standardization of parts for easier production
• LED’s

Probable:

• Inclusion of NVIDIA chipsets, specifically targeted towards reduced power consumption
• Ramp up of LED inclusion/production

Not Likely:

• Tablet notebook, multi-touch netbook
• Blu-Ray integration
• multi-touch glass trackpad
• re-introduction of 12″ G4 powerbook (comparable model)
• unification of entire notebook line (as in calling them all macbook’s and dropping the “pro”)
• LED keyboard

i love how you push what you think is going to happen. lets see what they come with. Though I disagree on some stuff, i find it utterly amusing that you post this after all the other posts talking about the coming new products.

personally I think that there will be a Macbook Mini introduced, also i genuinely hope Blu-Ray comes finally, though it would be weird if they didn't update the desktop line for it also.

So basically we know everything or we know nothing.

As usual, anything goes. And everything here is so off the wall, that everyone will be soooo disappointed when there's no docking station no Blu Ray, and no Tablet.

What about DVD's on the go? Or ripping CD's? Or games that require a disk?

Removing the optical drive would be terrible. :(

I thought they removed it from the Air because it was an ultra portable. The Macbook is not an ultra portable...
