Alright, first mockup ever. Here goes.

another good 1. keep them coming people!

As long as they dump the stockpile of poor quality LCD panels they've been using, to fix the yellow screens, bad uniformity and light bleed issues, I'll buy one.

Of course it would be insane if they still use the same resolution screens as the current MBP, but you never can tell.

i WAS under the impression, that Apple would add that new translucent keyboard that doubled as a touch screen!
no? with all the new touch patients and rumors, and now this REDESIGN... how could they not add it?

of course i would LOVE a keyless touch keyboard which probably could also double as a screen. it will be so much easier to clean, no moving parts, and allow it to be thinner, AND there will be no marks left on the screen by the keys! (gives me hives).

BUT i think most people are not ready for a keyless keyboard, especially on macbook pro. it could be a bit risky for apple to be that experimental with their flagship laptop. so i think apple could incorporate the keyless feature on a tablet first... but who needs a tablet when you can get an iphone? and what i really hoped for is keyless on the macbook air, coz that's just the most appropriate product to introduce keyless keyboard in my opinion.

lets be really honest with each other, the MBP will not be redsigned. Its more likely that they will come out with a whole new line and not redesign the MBP. The design is solid right now and a larger trackpad is not even possible with the layout of the internals. I like the way it looks now and if they redesign it, great, but i dont think that will happen.

im no expert on past mac line ups and revisions but i do think that with the macbooks now going to the stainless/aluminum cases, apple will need to do something to seperate the mbp from the mb, make the consumer spend that extra, i think that there will be some type of multi-touch screen

I could be wrong but I am still betting on Feb next year for the major changes. I know this goes against what is stated here, but I believe it is going to happen in Feb and not now.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but i LOVE the fact that they still haven't worked out the kinks on the old ones yet are ready to revise them...

they really have to release them during WWDC. At least they should give us college-bound people a glimpse at it and a time frame for release because i would hate to buy a laptop that will be updated 2 weeks down the road.

if they will change design, macbook will be transformed to silver materials, have similar image from imac. for macbook pro? I don't know. it will be very new stunning design like Apple has done. but when we take a look at macbook air package & design, new one will be followed that way. but I can't tell you what kind of materials they will apply. but we can expect one highly.

your so right! The mac air is like the test bed for newer ideas. I too now believe it will receive a keyless keyboard first. it would make it thinner and lighter. good call

Is there ANYONE who didn't already know with 100% certainty that at some stage in the near future, Apple would be redesigning the Macbooks and Macbook Pros? You'd think there had been some kind of revelation published, when in actual fact, no-one knows anything more today than they did this time last week. A total non-story that you, I or anyone else here could have written.

Now that I'm rereading the original story, I basically agree.

I think when it gets closer, you'll know to the point not to buy it 2 weeks before it comes out. But, yes, a legitimate fear.

So, how is the mining and manufacturing of metal any more or less environmentally friendly than plastic? :D

Woohoo

Finally, some comfort and vindication in resisting the purchase of the MBP refresh in February.

This update can't come soon enough. My Dell XPS Gen. 2 is on its deathbed, and my new 12" alubook ain't cutting it as the defacto primary computer.

Anyone have any thoughts on the bluray? We gonna see it or no.

This is what I need:

LED screen,
New form factor,
Blu-Ray (maybe),
4 GB ram,
better video card,
Montevina,
4-5 hours battery,
SSD,
Multitouch.

Not too unrealistic right?

I'm sure I'll be in the minority on this, but the plastic case is one of the big reasons I would choose a MB over a MBP (if only it had a matte screen too!). I'm not ready to upgrade from my iBook G4 at this point, but when I am maybe I'll have to go shopping on eBay instead of at the Apple store. :(

Wish I could agree. I love Leopard and my iPhone, but my MacBook is shoddily built, with three major cracks showing despite never having been dropped. My iBook G3 was a million miles away in terms of sturdiness.

Here are my predictions for the Monteniva based MacBook Pro:

- 45nm C2D 2.66-3.06ghz
- 800mhz DDR2 ram
- Hard Drives from 250-500GB, with option for a SSD
- BLU-Ray standard! on MacBook Pro (Blu-Ray drives are cheap. You can get them for a mere $150). By June, they will get even cheaper.
- 3-5 megapixel isight
- 9600 GT graphics card (the 9600 GT is around 3x faster than the 8600 GT):D
