Apple is going to update a design that was released in early 2003. NEVER! I just can't see that happening.
Why would Apple redesign a case that's been around for almost 5 years... Why... it doesn't add up. It makes absolutely no sense...
I could see them redoing the case if maybe it were 27 years old, but almost 5, nah.
I remember seeing the 17" aluminum released shortly after I bought my now-dead-TI-Book. Back then I thought to myself, Apple will surely never offer a newly designed case again. I mean, why would they... According to my anal friend, the aluminum case is perfect. He tells me this while the skin of the palm of his hand's bubbles off do to the fact aluminum transfers heat so well. I think if they ever did redesign their portables, which I know they'll never do again, they should use copper this time. But I couldn't get one, because copper turns green when it touches my skin. But it would certainly do a better job at transferring the heat to even the keys, which they should also make out of a heat conductive metal.
With the appearance of the Mac Book Air sporting black keys instead of aluminum -- which I liked in esthetics only on my TI-Book, since it didn't have light-up-keys -- and the new black borders on the iMacs, they'll certainly not redesign their other Macs. That would be rather silly and that's not how you stay fresh with a changing market. Don't even get me started on the workstation cases, because they'll never be redesigned again.
This thread is nothing but pure speculation and when I buy a new Mac Book Pro in 2017, I'm pretty sure it will look the same... This thread is just as informative as those "possibly new Intel chips are coming" threads, which if anyone looks at Intel's roadmap, has already known for about a year prior to the posting.
