I am personally hoping for something in the transparent aluminum variety . . .

What I would like to see for the MacBook is a range of colours just like for the iPods...
What do you think about that am I the only one??
(sry if this was already said before I don't really have time to read like 250 quotes but I just wanted to say it :D)

i know this won't happen but i'm kinda for it too, i don't use it much and i would rather none of the lines came with any optical drive, making it thinner and lowering the price, and just get one usb superdrive that i can use with whatever computer i have.

I am starting to get partial to the light scribe drives.... a CD looks more professional than one with a label stuck on it. Put light scribe in a MAC please. Would be nice if my new HP light scribe Drive drive would work with a MAC.

:D

That still does today remain my favourite ST movie - just so much funny humour or just the fact that they tried so hard to make them strange made it great.

as for the mb and mbp - the pro has been 5 years now is it with the same design but it is a legendary design that has been the pinnacle of portable computing - sad to see it leave but if they come up with something more sturdy (non denting) that still can cool the cpu quickly and have sex appeal, i am happy to have it.

i love how apple keep a design and make minor revisions like good car companies who don't change the design of their cars every year. great work

Any ideas on prices? as in...will they go up because of the new designs?

Yeah, didn't you see? Apple published the prices of the new units even before announcing the new models. Pretty crazy huh? Top of the line goes for $799, basic model for $399. What a deal!

I hate glossy screens

As I positively loathe glossy screens, I really hope they have an option for non-glare screens on the new MBPs -- otherwise I will definitely not buy one.

what a loss -

i agree though. i am glad apple offer matte screens. glossy works well if you are never near multiple light sources or light at all for that matter. it does look damn sexy for some things though

A redesign would mean making that blu-ray addition quite a easy thing to pull one would hope, and i know i am!

my PB g4 needs a friend its very lonely

Why not a group of friends?

Give it a Mac Pro, MBP, MB, Mac Mini, iMac, and a MacBook Air to play with:D

Apple is going to update a design that was released in early 2003. NEVER! I just can't see that happening.

Why would Apple redesign a case that's been around for almost 5 years... Why... it doesn't add up. It makes absolutely no sense...

I could see them redoing the case if maybe it were 27 years old, but almost 5, nah.

I remember seeing the 17" aluminum released shortly after I bought my now-dead-TI-Book. Back then I thought to myself, Apple will surely never offer a newly designed case again. I mean, why would they... According to my anal friend, the aluminum case is perfect. He tells me this while the skin of the palm of his hand's bubbles off do to the fact aluminum transfers heat so well. I think if they ever did redesign their portables, which I know they'll never do again, they should use copper this time. But I couldn't get one, because copper turns green when it touches my skin. But it would certainly do a better job at transferring the heat to even the keys, which they should also make out of a heat conductive metal.

With the appearance of the Mac Book Air sporting black keys instead of aluminum -- which I liked in esthetics only on my TI-Book, since it didn't have light-up-keys -- and the new black borders on the iMacs, they'll certainly not redesign their other Macs. That would be rather silly and that's not how you stay fresh with a changing market. Don't even get me started on the workstation cases, because they'll never be redesigned again.

This thread is nothing but pure speculation and when I buy a new Mac Book Pro in 2017, I'm pretty sure it will look the same... This thread is just as informative as those "possibly new Intel chips are coming" threads, which if anyone looks at Intel's roadmap, has already known for about a year prior to the posting.

Here are my predictions for the Monteniva based MacBook Pro:

- 45nm C2D 2.66-3.06ghz
- 800mhz DDR2 ram
- Hard Drives from 250-500GB, with option for a SSD
- BLU-Ray standard! on MacBook Pro (Blu-Ray drives are cheap. You can get them for a mere $150). By June, they will get even cheaper.
- 3-5 megapixel isight
- 9600 GT graphics card (the 9600 GT is around 3x faster than the 8600 GT):D

Blu-Ray drive are still expensive. Please show me where you can get it for slot loaded drive for $150.

Will this make the macbook heavier? Also, I have heard complaints of the aluminum casing on the MBP affecting the wireless signal. I hope they fix that if they will be putting it onthe macbook.

Tempting but I don't think I can wait. i need something in June for another China trip and I am heavily leaning toward the AIR. With tax refund, stimulus, and gift cards (I was an HD DVD buyer) I am almost there.

I am a VERY happy 2.33C2D owner and I will purchase this revision. Suppose Geekbench will be about 3400 I will be seeing a 17% improvement in addition to battery life and graphics capabilities.

It won't be a difficult wait as I am perfectly content with my current workhorse.

While I am sure that these will be slick looking machines, what I am most looking forward to, is the iMac update.

What's going on with the iMac update? Can we get new iMacs with Blu-Ray drives, please? Pretty please?

Still Glossy AND Antiglare Screens for New MBP?

Will Apple push their trend toward glossy screens and eliminate the antiglare screen option from the new MacBook Pro line? Or can we assume that they do realize this would lead to rioting in the streets? :D

Regarding "taking visual cues" from the MBA ... I hope there will still be an "all-black" model of the Macbook. iMac/ MBA's black-on-silver color scheme doesn't work for me.

Now I worry that I 'll be in situation where I have to choose between the current Blackbook or an Oreobook with much higher specs & better features. :(
