I'm glad I bought a blackbook while I can. Metal is so dumb. I hate the feeling of my wrist "sticking" to my hot macbook pro.

I think they mean that the MBP will get the tapering design of the Macbook Air. I'm not sure what they mean about the MB though.

I seriously doubt that the Pro is getting the tapering design considering all the ports, removable battery, and cd drive it has.

>the MacBook Pro continues to share a very similar design to the original PowerBook G4 which was introduced in 2001.

Actually, no... It shares a similar design to the Powerbook G4 aluminum which was introduced in 2003.

Or does no one remember the TiBook? I still miss it. It had a certain elegance about it that the AlBook failed to capture. :)

Concerned about the specs...

A new case design is all well and good, but I am interested in what the specs will be for these new books. Blue Ray drive? Better dedicated graphics card? larger HD? faster, better intel chip? Improved leopard OS? Entry price that is attainable in these difficult economic times? A return of the Iconic PBG4 to MBP specs?:D Definitely waiting to see....

So...to bring them inline with the MBAs, that means the newly designed MBPs will come with less and cost more?

Its about time apple has started upgrading their front side bus speeds. They've been underpar for awhile now, and 1066Mhz is still kinda slow considering the highest I've seen was 1666MHz and that was a year ago. They will probably increase that soon too.

On a laptop?

With >1 hour battery life?

800MHz is the standard FSB for laptop CPUs from Intel. Anything else is a desktop CPU crammed into a laptop casing, with all the resulting heat and faff. Intel don't even have 1666MHz yet, they're at 1333MHz, with 1600MHz coming right around now for high end desktop parts.

Front Side Bus speeds for mobile chips differ greatly compared to their desktop and server counterparts. Reducing FSB speed is a key factor in power savings. Thus, this is the reason you see a more limited FSB, and more limited Ram speeds in laptops.

I read the Appleinsider report, and it says this is likely to ship for Q3 of 2008. This is after WWDC, but its possible it could get announced then. I'm all excited about this because i'm going to be getting myself a standard MacBook around July 3rd (my birthday) - this is after WWDC but before Q3.....!? So does anyone think differently...? Any ideas what I should do?

BTW, if I do get this MacBook, I must get it before early September, which is when sixth form starts again.... thats my absolute deadline!

oh i also forgot to add this

FOR HEAVENS SAKE APPLE, PLEASE DROP THE COMBO DRIVE !!!!!

I guess that the MBP will adopt the keyboard from the Air or the MB. I love the current MBP design, but they haven't been changed for a long time.

Question is - how to change a perfect design ?

I knew this would happen!
Wait for the Montevina platform with a VERY possible redesign at WWDC, or get one now!

and what do I do?
Get one now!

oh well, I guess I can just hope that in 2 years it blows up or something and my Applecare will get me a brand new one! :D
[/wishful thinking]

*sniff* *sniff* what is that I smell?

Ah, yes, The Magnificent smell of...... Mock-up time! Photoshop wizards, get out your paint buckets and work your magic :D I wanna see some sexay!
