Would have been nice if we got 5 gigs per ios device. I've spent over a thousand dollars at the apple store this past weekend, I guess 40 more won't hurt, those worry free backups are nice.

Right now I use with three devices 10GB; need to try to cleanup a bit. Camera roll use nearly half. Or I need to pay. I don't want to miss the convenience of wifi backup. Man, I wish I could setup a private cloud with the same integration.

If you've got a computer that runs 24/7 setup iTunes wifi sync.

Have you looked on eac device to see what all is filling your backups?

This shouldn't be news to those affected, I was upgraded and am expecting this email shortly. It's good to see that they are making users aware though.

5gb is quite small when using iCloud to back up devices.

However they need an incredible amount of storage if it was more. 5 million iPhones sold, theoretically 5 million more iCloud users (I know a lot of people already have them, just thinking why they'd limit to 5gb without fees).

A 5GB limit is pretty insulting, especially if you were on the 25GB free plan. It's not like they dont have enough storage here.

Maybe 5GB per device would be nice;but even then I'm sure we would find reason to complain ...

I would have my router/vpn/firewall running 24/7; that could share disk space. but eventually I need to remove images from cloud; those take lots space (of course). But I back them up on NAS and external disk anyway.

give it a day or so

I had that same cavalier attitude a few weeks ago. That night I smacked up against the 5gb wall. All of your devices are not backed up properly or have not completed their backups, thats why.

lol i cant even reach 5 GB and i got 2 iPhones, 1 iPod Touch and 2 iPads signed to it

I don't see the problem? MobileMe was $99/yr and included 25GB storage, right? Icloud is free and includes 5GB storage and an additional 20GB of storage costs $40/yr. So at price that is $60 cheaper, you get the same amount of space.

Sounds like a bargain to me.

I got this e-mail as well this morning and even though I want to pay I can't, since Apple removed my country (Curacao) from the countrylist with the move to iCloud.

I could pay for .Mac and MobileMe just fine. Since my country is not on the list, I can't use my credit card. Maybe if they would let you pay with iTunes credit?

Please help our tiny nation!

Checked out the options and you can get 10GB of storage for £14.00 a year, half of the £28.00 - so have gone for this option for the next period. Hope it works on the 30th.

Got the email and immediately removed my icloud backups. Hard to backup more than one device to 5GB
I'm curious what it using all that space? I checked my iCloud storage, and I am using .14GB of space on their server. I have my devices backed up to it, and about a dozen Pages and Numbers files, along with a couple PDFs and text files.

What could possibly be using more than 5GB of space?

Got the email myself earlier. Badly worded and made me jump out of my skin a little. Had forgotten it would happen.

They really need to do a better job making it clear that you can stay on your current level for a fee, upgrade or downgrade.

I currently have 4 devices backing up to it (two iPads, and 2 phones) and currently using about 10-15gb. One of the iPads is using 6GB alone.

Yeah, my backups are around 2.8 GB for each device, so 5 GB is a bit too slim for an iPhone and iPad.

Got the email this morning.

With just two device backups that tight on space, Apple really needs to boost the included amount of iCloud storage.

I also received the e-mail this morning. I had both my iPhone and iPad backing up to iCloud. The iPhone was over 5 GB. Still trying to decide to pay or just remove backing the iPhone through iCloud and just do it locally.

These people want everything and try and take advantage of Apple generosity !
- On the one hand they want excuses for a service that doesn't work.
- On the other hand they want more storage on that not-working service.
Go to Google you self-infatuated dummies !

i excluded stuff like pictures actually because i do that with dropbox anyway

I hope all the data centers apple is building will increase the free storage soon. It needs to increase if they are pitching this as a true "union of devices" solution. I have 50gb free from Box, 25gb free from Skydrive, and 17gb free from Dropbox. Apple is way behind.

Trust Google?!? With everything I value?
That's like putting my home address, phone numbers, driver's licence number, etc. on Facebook.

Is it me or are they limiting us to a maximum 25 GB of cloud storage?

I have the 50 GB plan now and would like to maintain 50 GB but it seems that on 9/30 I am going to get dropped to 25 GB.

I would pay for more storage if it were offered.
