For those of you wondering about the shipping address, I had the same issue when purchasing through Apple online. Since an Apple Store is 10 minutes away I drove down and asked them what is up with the ship to address since I have purchased products in the past through Apple.com and my works shipping address would always popped up. Several employees told me that address is linked to your phone bill, but you can edit your shipping address once you have received a confirmation from Apple on your order. I did, changed the address, and everything is good to go.

Got my confirmation email after 12 hours, and it shows on the order status page with delivery on the 14 th.
Whew! I feel much better now!

Got it!

attempted Apple store online starting at 1:30 AM PDT, three attempts were unsuccessful, then at 2 AM, the order went through, sort of.. except what I got was "We have an iPhone for you!" message, I received a reservation e-mail

At 4:45 AM I received a "We could not complete your order" e-mail from Apple, with a link to enable the rest of details, (which AT&T plan).. The site was slow, and I got all the way through until it came to add to my cart, when I got a 404 error message, and saying my session had "expired due to inactivity".. WTF?,

Anyway, let that go a few hours, and tried to complete order again around 1:30 PM, this time it worked.. received an order confirmation e-mail about 2 and a half hours later.. Also ordered the Speck toughskin case, which served me so well on my aging original iPhone 3G.

I have a 64 gig White iPhone on the way now, yay! which is a whopping 8x more than my 8 gig 3G! (I have no idea what I'm going to do with so much memory, but it will be fun finding out!.. w00t! Also got the Apple care plus package..

According to Apple.com, ALL models and colors on every carrier are available for delivery on the 14th. Makes me wonder how long they have been producing these phones!

AT&T.com is sold out completely and shipping in 2-3 weeks. Verizon.com and Sprint.com are sold out of the white and black 16GB iPhone 4s while they still have the other models.

I bet AT&T had more phones than the other two to begin with and they are still sold out!

Take your rhetoric elsewhere...

You're right Bryan. It's not right to try and pop the bubble that is home to so many rich Americans who can't get their pre-orders in on opening day because the demand is so high. It really is a very serious situation and I ought to be more sympathetic.

you can, but I won't feel guilty I gave to that this week. worldhelp.net

Wasn't trying to make you feel guilty… just give the whiners a little perspective. (I'll be getting one of these phones too, but I won't be crying about it and calling Apple 'idiots' if they have trouble coping with initial demand.)

Who cares. Let them eat iPhone parts.

Well I knew I'd get blasted… but at least someone who can do it with a sense of humour! I can respect that.

I saw it too....my take is that the world doesnt use CDMA, so why bother putting it in the interantional unlocked ones....also, how interesting that the Unlcoked are coming to us in November (the date the international unlcked ones will be distributed)...It seems to me the US will get the batch from this main batch of international unlocked ones.

That would mean that they are still manufacturing a CDMA (+ GSM/world mode) and a GSM only phone... why would they do that? It doesn't make sense. Why not just make world mode phones unlocked?

I placed my pre-order at Verizon's site half an hour after it went live (I gave up at Apple's site). I just checked my order status and it says it's expected to ship on 10/21. Buhwuhhhhh? Could that be accurate? Is demand that high?

I ordered through the Apple site and it still says delivers Oct 14. Maybe Verizon is wrong or they didn't have enough supply.

Aww, I might not even bother with pre-ordering this time around. Maybe I can get lucky enough and get it in-store.

It's possible. I walked into an AT&T store last year and picked up a 4 the day after launch without waiting in line. After I checked out the sales clerk said that I got the last one in stock, though.

I preordered mine at 6am eastern on Friday morning. Black, 16gb, 2gb per month data plan. I can't wait until next Friday! I've been stuck with a Sh**ty iPod Touch 2g for the past 3 years, in hopes I would get an iPhone! I can finally have one and use the camera to test out my recently developed app!

Just realized that it will be in Apple Stores on my birthday :D

Not that I'm going to get one but still fun food for thought.

Nice. Nothing significant happening on my end; sadly, I had to get it shipped to my house, so I'm going to have my parents overnight it that weekend if they get it, so I can procrastinate with school work and get to know my new baby :)

A iOS developer without an iPhone?

Wow, an iOS developer without an iPhone. Impressive! I've had iPhones, but yet to develop an app yet.

You'll love the Camera! Mine will be the best Still and Video Camera I've ever owned. A lot of consumer video cameras aren't true 1080P. Some are 1080i and some may be 1080p but records an actual 1440x1080 pixel resolution, instead of a true 1920x1080. Broadcast 1080i is usually 1440x1080 too. It may still be a leap to say that the video from the iPhone 4S will look better than broadcast 1080i though. Commercial cameras probably still do better with dynamic range and noise, though the new Camera App does have Temporal Noise Reduction!

I ordered mine via apple, and later edited the shipping address so it would not go to my home. why not try that?

thanks for the advice. I did the same thing and i'll be getting the phone on friday at work!

Agreed. But in the past they have not even put the amount in pending until it is ready to ship.

Looks like the preauth charge on my card was dropped yesterday. I assume Apple will place a new charge since everything looks good from the UPS side of things...wonder what would happen if I cancelled my credit card now.

edit: I think Apple read my post, the new transaction was charged and posted today.

I thought about it, but meh, it's alright. It's already in Orlando now, which is closer to my home than here. It's only one extra day, and I need to spend all day tomorrow studying for the 4 exams I have next week :/

If I'm going to devote Saturday, all night, and Sunday to my phone, I need to get this work done now :)

You reply to a thread from last year and say "huh?"

No, I was saying "huh" to another post that has evidently been deleted. Some strange ramblings related to deals of some sort. Like you, I didn't understand why it was posted. Doesn't matter, since it has since been deleted. Nuf said.
