Too bad the new Mini has A13. My 2018 iPad 12.9 has a A12X...I don't suspect there will be a huge (if any) performance increase? I just wanted something smaller, but I guess I'll keep my 12.9 for a little while longer.

Is there any advantage to the new Mini iPad over my 2018 12.9 iPad Pro? I don't use the camera on it, at all. Is the screen on the Mini better than mine in any way?
The 2021 iPad mini uses a A15. Its the economy iPad 9 that is using a A13. The 2018 12.9" iPad Pro used a Liquid Retina display.

The advantage the 2021 iPad mini has is processing power over the 2018 since it uses a A15 compared to a A12Z. Thats 4GB Ram vs 3GB RAM built in also. The mini actually can be used for photography easier as it's not so big. Compare your 2018 iPad Pro vs the iPadMini 6 vs iPad 9 in the below URL. :)

How does the trade in work with apple? Can we we turn in into the apple store?
Pretty sure no. They send a mailer you put the device in. If you use an Apple Card for 12 monthly interest-free payments, though, they apply the trade in value at purchase.

Nice upgrade on the Mini for sure, too bad it didn't get the same 128GB starting point as the iPhones.
64GB is way too small and the cost of the 256GB option is getting into the "a bit too much for what it is" territory.
Typical apple fashion. Understanding 64 is too small so people spend more on 256 they don’t need. 128 is perfect for the majority.

Yep, now the basic iPad has the same storage options as the Air and Mini. Time to increase the storage options for the more premium iPads.

I'm on that boat too where 64GB is not enough but 256GB is too much. I currently use 60GB on my iPad. Oh the humanity. Decision decision.

Makes me mad how much obvious they are pricing these to sell on storage for maybe a year or two while it stays 64-256. Get a few million people to spend that extra on storage they don’t need.
All the lines should start at 128. Glad the base phones do now.

it CAN be used easier but how does the camera on the mini 6 compare to the current range of iPhone cameras - not including the 13 pro/max versions - are they close? I am guessing the rear camera isn't as advanced as the 12 pro's camera(s)

That's how a business makes money, my friend. It's all about profit.

Well they could have made more money off of me if they would have offered a middle tier of 128. Instead I got the 64 because 256 is over kill for me. But 128 I would have paid more for just in case.

The new iPad Mini 6 has an A15 Bionic (64-bit, 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, 16 core Neural Engine).

It also has a smaller screen space to drive, so compared to your 2018 it will be faster.

I seem to be in the minority concerning the Touch ID on the iPad Air 4. I’ve never had an issue (other than once or twice when my hands were wet) with it responding. I only post this so anyone on the fence sees at least one positive vote…

This looks like a nice upgrade overall, but I do have to say that I really wasn’t a fan of touch id on the power button on my iPad Air4. I had for a number of months, and sold it. I upgraded it to an iPad Pro 11 and much prefer Face ID. I also have an iPad Mini 5 that I use primarily as a reader, and I actually think the the home button is more convenient, jut because I always know where it is in an instant. And it’s easier to use. But maybe that’s just me…. Overall, for those of you have been waiting for this, it seems like an improved device. The slightly bigger screen size should be nice!

The Touch ID is a requirement for me and I refuse to use Face ID. This is why I'm using an iPhone SE 2020, because they repeatedly fail to use the touch ID power button on the flagship phones (and Touch ID through the screen seems to be vaporware). If the iPad Mini 6 lacked Touch ID I would not have pulled the trigger and remained on my iPad Mini 5. That's how strongly I feel about this feature.

Interesting...what is it about Face ID that you dislike so much? Not arguing ...just curious.

sure but companies understand people don't like feeling played. Its nice when a business caters to the customer and feels good about a purchase. Apple seems to be listening and doing less of this over the years.

I have been able to do an on the spot trade-in for credit and then buy the new item right there in the Apple store. At least at my local store they do.

That's what I used to do too, but I'm not sure if that changed with the pandemic.
