Hello guys. I have a 6s that performs exactly as the description of the issue, meaning it shuts down with 30% and more sometimes battery left.

Once i plug it in for just a few secs then the phone can continue to work. If i do not plug it in, it opens then shuts down again.

I tried to check about the replacement program, i put in my serial number and it informs me that I am not eligible for the repair...

I have raise to wake enabled, is there anything that I can do? I have seen conflicting reports that say that this is also maybe a software issue?

I am so confused and will appreciate help.

Pressing (as in just a press without leaving the finger on the button for more than just a press) with an unregistered finger goes directly to the passcode entry screen for me.

The feature isn't removed, it has been changed. Again, no one is saying it's better or worse for everyone as everyone has their own preference, but it's not the same thing as removing the headphone jack, nor does it somehow automatically imply some sort of a maleficent plot.
Strange.
My work phone 5s does not do that. I still have to try numerous times before it gave in to show me the passcode screen.
 
So today I went to Regent Street, London, to have my battery replaced. They finally have stock, so a few hours later I now have a phone with a new battery. Fingers crossed it has solved the issue.....
 
Just got an email from Apple - my replacement battery is in. Took about a week since it was ordered. Guess a trip to the Apple Store is in my weekend plans. And hopefully the replacement goes smoothly.
 
The replacement process is really pretty annoying. Tried to Apple Store find a parking space wait 15 to 20 minutes spend 10 minutes having them confirmed that yes your phone needs to be repaired, and then they tell you it'll be two weeks before battery comes in and you're going to have to repeat the whole process the second time. Time is money people I'm really not sure why or how They can't repair or replace at least be affected units more efficiently
 
Just say you're handicapped and ask if Apple can provide a private vehicle to pick you up and assistant to take you into the Apple store. I'm sure they have a way to take advantage of their normal mail in warranty and out-of-warranty service. Best Buy Geek Squad also services the batteries through this program. You'll probably have better luck there although it's one step below the Apple store but better than paying $80 for an independent shop to to do it unless the shop has good reviews.
 
Took mine in yesterday to the Boylston St. store here in Boston. The initial wait for my 10:45 appointment was a bit long but once the dude came over, it was about 1 1/2 hours to get it all replaced. Was good timing since the 35 minute T ride over, it went from 90% to 40% without being on or leaving my pocket. Charged up yesterday, and left it overnight next to bed unplugged and only lost 1% vs. the nearly entire charge. $0 spent. I would advise people to double check the website for their serial number to make sure it qualifies. Dude said he's had to turn away quite a few who didn't qualify or check beforehand.

Far as the earlier person complaining about updating their software to the current version, I did double check with the guy and he said the same, because a lot of the times battery issues can be resolved by software issues. You may not like it, but spend the 5-10 minutes "relearning" the UI (which isn't like going from OS 9 to OS X btw) and just do it if there's an issue with the battery. Can always backup the older software, update phone, take it in and reload your backup if it's such an issue.
 
I smell a cover-up with the sudden spike of issues with premature shutdown of iPhones way before hitting anywhere near 0% battery after recent iOS update. Seems Apple discovered battery issue that they silently try to address via iOS update to firmware to limit risks but caused premature shutdown side affect.

OR, the more logical thing is they've received a fair number of complaints about the issue with early 6S' and simply said screw it and recalled the batteries en masse... Nobody knows or will know most likely the reason but coverup... a bit reaching when it's public knowledge.
 
My 6S serial number is not in repair range, I got the phone Feb 2016 but shut off very often from 10-20%

Made my Apple store appointment last week, went there today with my phone reset and backup with a 1 min video of it shut off at 10%. The Apple rep did a diagnostic and found the battery OK.

I told him that it often shut down at 10% and I have reset it follow the instructions and you see the video too, since the diagnostic say battery is OK, so he just write up the report and going to replace my phone with a new one.

Need to wait for the phone to arrive because they don't have it in stock

They need to do this for the original 6 too. Not just the S. I have two in the family, orignal 6, that exhibit the exact same behavior they are replacing these batteries for.

My 6 has recently started to do this also. As it's over two years old I just put it down to an old battery - however as it seems to be fairly common I'm not too sure now.
 
Guys 10.2 didnt change anything for me... my 6s still keeps shuting down and apparently i am not eligible for a repair either... what am i supposed to do now, the phone warranty covers me until 23 december...

Mine does this all the time. Drives me batty! It was at 54%, I walked away from my desk and about a minute later got a low battery alert, and 10 seconds after that the phone shut down. When I plugged it back in, it went straight to 46% once it started back up.

Apple! Hello?!? It's not just the 6s!
