Out of curiosity, what is ridiculous about having been an Apple developer in the past but no longer being one?

Are you a developer? Have you actually gone through the application process? Because it asks 4 simple questions and clearly spells out the rules for the discount. It took me around 1minute to apply. It was that easy.

Yeah it's easy but they take their SWEET time to approve you and don't give you any deadlines for a decision. I applied after the Dec 18th deadline because I stupidly missed the email inviting me to apply (they only sent ONE). So nowhere in the terms do they mention any specific timeframe for them to enroll you after you apply. Some people I know applied on Dec 3rd and still haven't heard back.

A huge percentage of apple's developers fall into this less than $1m revenue category (over 90% I think) so imagine how long it could take them to go over all the applications and approve them. Some of us will unfairly miss weeks of this reduced fee. It's just pretty unfair to be honest and seems like a backdoor for them to keep collecting the higher fee for at least a bit longer.
