So a quick FYI from a beta user, nobody should voluntarily update to iOS 13 today, just wait until 13.1 next week. Not worth the potential hassle. There's a reason why Apple is releasing 13.1 a week after 13 and it isn't because 13 is the most stable .0 release they ever made.

Quick question: I am currently still on iOS 13.1 Beta #4. Should I stay with that until September 24th? I mean when that day comes - I should delete Beta Profile and update to official GM? Or 13.1 Beta 4 is basically an official Beta Profile??? Thanks in advance!

It's pretty much quite usable for most. If it really wasn't there wouldn't be much of a point to even release it.
I think they had to release it, as the new phones probably can't run iOS12 and iOS 13.1 wasn't ready in time to put on the phones a few days ago.

Some people are suspecting that 13.1 b4 is not the last beta and there might be another one in a few days before 13.1 is released. I\m not 100% sure but I've always assumed the last beta (the GM version) is identical to the one that's released to the public, although maybe it has some diagnostics stuff still in it?

Also, I suspect a week after 13.1 is released 13.2 will start beta testing and you'll want to install the profile again :)

Given the state of the last 13 beta and the state of the 13.1 beta now I wouldn't have released an iOS 13 today being Apple. Sure it probably works fine for most people with maybe a couple of glitches but it certainly is the worst .0 release in recent memory in terms of stability.

What’s the point of today if Tuesday it’s getting updated why not just wait till then

Scrapping the .0 release probably gets you worse press than releasing a slightly (which is bad, it should be stable) unstable .0 release.

The update is taking forever to prepare on my XS Max. I know it’s gonna be buggy but I’m excited to finally have a GM version of iOS with dark mode 🙂

For those concerned:
I’ve been on 13GM since release. It’s pretty stable. Battery life is great. Only major issue is MAIL DOES NOT WORK. Other than that, you should be fine

What an absolute mess.

Obviously Apple hates all the reviews, including the ones for iPhone 11, which point out how iOS 13.0 is not ready for prime time.

This is beneath Apple. This is the nonsense other public companies do: ship bad products to hit deadlines so Wall Street is happy.

I'd have to say maybe a few updates aside, like 12.0, most x.0 have had quite a few issues for a variety of people (iOS 11 certainly comes to mind in terms of something fairly recent).

Is 13 really that bad? I wonder if the new iPhones will all arrive with 13.1 mysteriously on them already?

I'm sure they felt they needed to release it for one reason or another. Not quite sure if new phones being on it would really mean much as they could have had that available for new phones (for restoring or something like that), but not had anything new out for existing devices until 13.1 which is only a handful of days away now it seems.

I'm finding Mail almost ok in 13.1 b4, and I've been reading that some people on 13.0 also don't have problems with Mail. Those people are ones that went straight from 12.4 to the 13.0 GM, so maybe it's only those who went through the betas that have lingering Mail issues? Now that 13.0 has been released we'll find out pretty soon! If Mail still is a mess then we're about to get flooded ....

So clearly Apple knew many weeks ago that 13.0 would be buggy and 13.1 would need to be pushed quickly. Sooooooo why not just push the phone release back a week and release a STABLE 13.0???
I don't think the "bugginess" or "stability" is really the main driver behind 13.1 as much as it is iPadOS and some other newer features that are there.
