My brother has Verizon wireless so he's able to get the 6 months free of apple music..could I incorporate that into the homepod?

$149 and then we'll talk.

Yep, I can't see how it sells well for anything above $199. It's just far too limited at that price. I've used it along with the Sonos1 and I can't tell the difference (admittedly I'm by not an audiophile). But even then the sonos1 goes for $150 or less. HomePod, even with the mark up should of been $199 at most.

You’re tied to Siri, though. Siri just continues to be hopeless. Just now, I did a query of Siri on my iPhone...”Who did Georgia play last weekend?” It proceeded to show me a list of the NFL results from last weekend. In what universe does that make logical sense?

I think $200 would be a maximum price I would consider this. If it was $250 and worked as a BT speaker and had an wired aux input, I would bite. As is, it’s too limited for too high of a price

Wait you still can only use airplay to connect to it??? That's insane!

I use mine every day. I have 3 girls and having the ability to play music on demand is worth the price because I am already in the Apple EcoSystem. But I agree, I wish it was less. I think because of the sound quality (and apple tax) $249 would be the best price for this system.

I also use it as a home theater speaker via AppleTV...I plan on adding another soon when I see a good deal.

It appears that this is in-store only. Is it likely that someone will offer it online?

Amazon doesn't like be outdone by Best Buy so they routinely match their price accordingly. You can also try price matching against other brick and mortars like Target.

You could actually do a search on Google and find them as low as $220 right now. Depending on the site you buy them from. But I agree that they are pricey for a speaker which isn’t even considered a smart speaker.

Yes, it's very nicely integrated with Apple Music.

Great thanks..so I can use my own apple login but also incorporate my brothers apple music into it..or would I have to log in under his account(He doesn't have any apple account, only would get the promotion through Verizon)

That's because it first and foremost is a good speaker. That just happens to also fall into the category of "smart speakers".

I love my Google Home and Home Mini. 1 for downstairs and 1 for upstairs (I think I paid less than $200 for both?) in Appleland that would've been $600! meh. not feeling the price for what it is... Google home and mini fits my needs perfectly!

You won't regret it. I have 2 of them paired together in our main room and together they sound even better than you would think. We only use them for music tho I'm sure with TV/movies you would have similar results.

If you're thinking about buying it - think a bit longer.

There isn't integration with Apple Home or Apple Music app. Imagine that, Spotify a third party app, has options to scrub through your music and view track names whilst Apple Music has nothing.

Also, Siri is gimped and is much worst at understanding speech then Google Home or Alexa.

But the HomePod does have great sound!

In it's market, it is literally the equivalent of a Ferrari. It has the looks (subjective), sound and the cost. Unfortunately it would be a Ferrari that is also stuck in 1st gear, windows you can't wind down and and a seat you cannot adjust.

Charging a premium price doesn't make a premium device. I realise this might be news to some people.

Still can't believe how many are unable to grasp this. The HomePod was first and foremost intended to be about listening to music and that it does better than any comparable single speaker on the market.

Apple hardly mentioned the Siri capabilities of the HomePod during the Keynote and hardly does so on their website. It's beyond clear from what they've said again and again that the smart speaker capabilities are not at all the focus.

And yet, some are still so deaf and blind to this that they haven't realized it yet.
