standalone case on sale- complaints about e-waste

This is a surprising development! Anyhow, I wonder if an AirPods Pro case (Lightning) were replaced under warranty, would Apple at this point replace it with a USB C version? Or, better yet, ask the customer which one they prefer.
They're total bullies when it comes to warranty replacements

I was excited when I started reading this headline, but pricing on this is kinda ridiculous. It's 40% of the price of the current Air Pods Pro. $50, sure it'd be a no brainer. But I suppose if it was a no-brainer, people with older 1st Gen Pros (which I have) wouldn't get tempted to just upgrade.
$99 feels like you’re being stolen from with a smile.

Apple isn't telling people to upgrade their lighting charge cases.. this is for those who may lose a case or need to replace a dead/dying battery.
I mean $99…… or you could pay $29 for a near exact usb-c replica that syncs perfectly with your phone. My wife’s charging case died and apple refused warranty and wanted $129 to replace the charging case.

Went to eBay and bought a replica that works IDENTICAL to the original for $29 shipped. They have been working flawlessly for over a year with every single feature.
$99 is ridiculous. It should be $49.99 maybe even $59.99 for the apple tax.

If the product is still within warranty it would make sense apple does a swap to the usb c for your old case for like $29.99 or $39.99

Oh that's too bad.

I've had great experience. When I had AirPods Pro 1, I had one pod or the other replaced and I did that three times. Replacement was painless. But, it really made me question the quality of those pods. I'm now on AirPods Pro 2 (Lightning case).

I'd much rather have Apple sell me a USB-C iPhone for $99.00 to replace my Lightening 13 Pro Max. :p Seriously, Apple has taken way too long to go USB-C. I'm tired of traveling with a wide array of cables.

Capitalist clucks knew exactly what they were doing. Make people pay the full amount for the minor convenience. Then, after the masses have bought in, sell the version of only what was needed.

That is exactly what they did and it’s completely infuriating and totally consumer hostile

I’m really tired of all the friggin games this company plays now.

This kind of crap burns up goodwill in a hurry

About time, Apple. I think anyone that bought the 15 series and had the lightening version was waiting for this. (Including me)

Other than the (insert massive number) of people that couldn't be bothered waiting and the ones apple loves the most.

"They'll just buy a new set early, when demand slows, let's bring out the case alone"

This is only made available cause the units that did not pass QC are now rechecked and repacked for such sale.

We all know that Airpods are the worst products produced ever concerning QC. Google the articles, misaligned, scratches units from factories in Vietnam.

Exactly. I would imagine charging AirPods wired is uncommon.
I never wirelessly charge anything I own if I don’t have to. I think some people like wireless. I like not wasting energy and even more not ruining my battery for the one second it takes to plug in a cable.
