I woke up at 12AM Pacific...

...and couldn't get the store on any of my devices to work for the next hour. I called it a night, woke up at 6AM, and placed an order for a 6-64GB to be picked up at the Apple Store down the street from my house. It didn't allow me to choose a pickup time. Does that mean I can go in anytime? or will they assign one to me later based on availability?

If you place the order through Apple after AT&T, the AT&T order will get canceled. I had a preorder through AT&T and I placed it through Apple after I was able to since the shipping time for the 6 is the same. I did submit a cancel request for the AT&T order but it was canceled soon automatically after I placed the Apple one and I got an email saying:

"Thank you for your recent purchase on the AT&T Premier Online Store. We are pleased that you chose AT&T as your wireless service provider.

Unfortunately, we cannot process your order as you are not eligible for an upgrade at this time."

Once you place the order through Apple it is reflected right away (my AT&T account online shows the lines aren't upgrade eligible either, but they do show as upgrade eligible when ordering through AT&T until the item is shipped/processed in their system fully).
I was able to preorder a 6 (64gb) from AT&T at about 3:10AM and then I went ahead and preordered from Apple at 3:50AM when it finally decided to work. It's for the same line and I received confirmation emails for both of them.

So AT&T will automatically cancel my order from them? Is it possible to get two iPhones for the same line?

I woke up and 3am EST and waited almost 2 hours to get something. It failed. Then I woke up 5:40 again and placed a pre-order with absolutely no issue.

I am curious what the sales of iPhone 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus ratio of sales will be in the next couple of days.

I'm going to guess that early adopters skew toward the plus. Not necessarily making it the more popular. But I suspect that day to day sales in the stores over the year will weight more toward the smaller and cheaper 6. But the guys (and I bet it is more guys) waking up in the middle of the night are going to be more likely to get the biggest thing.

Screw Apple. The first time I attempt to preorder a phone ever, caught up in the hype, wake up at 3 AM and sit around refreshing a browser before I have to say $%$# it and go back to bed because the POS system is down.....and surely enough 2 hours later waking up for work the Space Gray 6+ in 128 GB is at 3-4 weeks shipping. So p!ssed right now. Won't be able to fight the crowds on the day of to try and score one.

Apple Now Taking Pre-Orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Through U.S. Onlin...

Received my confirmation email from ATT this morning with an estimated Sept 19th delivery date!!

One thing should be clear by now: Apple massively underestimated the demand for the 6 Plus model. I find it hard to believe that all the 4" zealots are now going for the 5.5" model, but that's apparently what's happening. People have been bashing Android phablets for their screen size like crazy, especially on this forum, and now they're all going for the super-sized model. Just a little bit of hypocrisy going on, don't you think?

It will be unlocked when paying full price.

yes. that was the case prev years. someone in the forum yesterday said that it may not be the case this year. thanks :)

i think the supply is very limited

When I got in all the sites all either I cannot take choices or the i6 Plus choices are greyed out so I thought they are already all sold out. But I keep trying in and out - had a dilemma between iPhone 6 Plus Gold vs. Silver but Gold was the first to show up as available after I clicked switched back and forth between all the color choices via Apple Store App.

Apple Store App made the decision for me. Really wanted the Gold 5s but I decided to wait for iPhone 6 in the end. Then struggled between silver (thinking it is a better match for Apple :apple: stainless edition with the stunning Milanese loop) vs gold.

It will be delivered 9/19 at work. Any chance it will show up a day early? haha

Great days coming ahead, bring on the :apple: Watch!

It's also probably the "flagship inferiority" complex taking hold and many opting for the 5.5 instead of the 4.7. Either way, rolling eyes at all of the "5.5 is too big" sentiment.

To be fair, times change.
I remember taking the mick out of my sister 2 years ago when she bought the Galaxy phone and I had a sleek iPhone 5 but in the past two years I have found myself using the internet and text more and more and making calls less and less. I was going to jump ship for a bigger phone but leaks came out that Apple were going to release a bigger phone.

As I said, times change.

Took me about an hour and a half but I finally got one. What a mess.

Started at 3am (east), Apple an At&t were already down. At about 3:30 I got through on the Apple Store app, only to find out that customers in New York can't order with Att Next online for some reason (through Apple), there was no full price option, and the Tmo unlocked version was nowhere to be found. I eventually got through on the At&t website and got a 64gb 6 in Space Gray for 9/19 delivery with Att Next. I wanted unlocked but I can just pay the phone off anytime and have them unlock it, so thats fine. Now I see that I could've just gotten up right now and ordered the unlocked Tmo for 9/19 delivery without all this nonsense. Tuesdays lifestream should have been an indication of how this was going to play out. When will I learn?

iPhone 6 Plus because it is all about the one with the best camera.

I rarely make calls if I will - will use headsets or bluetooth or speaker phone.

I will never put my iPhone 6 Plus near my face publicly or privately.

And am so excited that I could watch live stream world football / soccer / futbol on a biggest smartphone I ever have anywhere now.

Did the 3am thing for a hour or so. Zero progress. Gave up the ghost and tried again at 7:30. Order went right through. Shows 9/19 delivery still...

Probably more due to limited supply. My Twitter feed was full of people saying they were going 4.7" because the 5.5" was just too big.

Verizon iPhone 6

Woke up at 7am EDT and ordered one gold and one space grey 64gb iPhone 6 on Verizon.

Had to do them one at a time on store.apple.com. (you can only order one carrier-activated phone at a time).

That or all the supply constraint rumors we've been hearing about the 5.5" are legitimate. We went through the same thing last year with the gold 5s. They sold out in a heartbeat because there weren't many available. I still don't see many of them in the wild to this day.

To each his own, but my 4.7" will be here next friday! :apple:

Gggrrrrr!!!

Not impressed Apple.
Website down for goodness knows how long and by the time the Hong Kong website actually woke up, it was out of the 6 plus.
I am only in Hong Kong for a few days and then return to mainland China (where it probably won't be available for a while) and they have screwed my whole reason for going.
Deeply, deeply miffed

Two things I did not anticipate:

1. Almost everyone here is ordering the Plus, I can't wait to see the order statistics down the road...

2. I ordered 2 hours late when suddenly the Apple Store back online and while people kept saying that both 6 and 6+ were already being pushed back by 2-3 weeks I was able to get mine (thru apple, full price) for the 9/19 delivery.

Happy for everyone who got what they wanted. And I have a feeling this will all be sold out by later today... Huge success for Apple *clap clap*, well done.
