While I don’t necessarily disagree with you and it’s likely true, none of the news sites mentions they received anything from Apple directly. They may be copying a fake news as far as I am concerned. None of them specifically mention having received word from Apple directly but all go on about quoting Apple. Surely this should pop up on Apples news site too then?

I was never planning on getting one assuming the price would be more than I was willing to pay for a Qi charger that offered a larger “sweet spot” vs. the several I currently have that work great and are probably 1/5 of what the cost wold have been of the AirPower. It’s not as clean looking having 3 separate chargers for the iPhone/watch/airpods on my nightstand but I’ll manage. I would have bought the wireless charging AirPod version regardless. Hopefully Apple will release a software update to allow Apple Watch to charge on a Qi charging pad but I can live with the Apple version. All that being said, It’s quite interesting how much emotion is being expressed about a charger.

Embodies perfectly what Apple is o
About these days - a bunch of "me too" services, where they pretend they are bringing something new to the table, products which carefully manage progress so they can maximize profit, and a total, utter stalemate when it comes to bringing anything truly innovative and revolutionary to the market.

Is there really any reason, other than habit and convenience, to support them in any segment which is not the iPhone (where they admittedly have an insurmountable lead over the competition)?

RIP, Think Different. Hello credit cards. LMAO.

Is it illegal to announce a product you have no intention of selling in order to increase stock value? Is it illegal to encourage people to buy an existing product with claims that a revolutionary new product will be supported by it? Maybe those things are legal. It feels wrong, but what do I know.

Also, are class action lawsuits wrong or something? Companies should be held accountable for their behavior. Are pro-corporatocracy or something?
They did have intention of setting it. A Class Action Lawsuit based on that would probably fail through as soon as the Apple lawyer walks in with the 'hot plate'.
There would be a class action lawsuit anyway had they released this product knowing well that it would not being to perform such innovating and advertised features or catching on fire.

Wow, what's wrong with Apple?
IMO, they are spending too much time focusing on things they should not to. (cars, ATV+, Card, etc)

Apple is a gigantic company. The people working on cars, Apple TV+, card, etc. aren’t the people working on macs, iPhones, or iPads. There is no reason they can’t do all these things. The problem with apple right now is Tim Cook is willing to settle for less than perfect and allows screw ups like the MacBook keyboard to become shipping products.

Makes sense. Some people would buy it (not me), but they got to the party way late.

Why do people always say this? Lol.

You really think that the general public knows the timeline for this product? As soon as they see it in stores they’ll buy.

The only thing Apple really botched was HomePod. They were late AND expensive.

D'oh!

Oh well, would likely have been priced out of the market anyway, when you consider you can get a wireless charger for £20 or less, even if it doesn't have some of the fancy multi device charging tricks...

I hope Apple at least opens up their Apple Watch charging standards so it can work with any Qi mat. It severely limits options when you have to find a multi-QI mat that also has an Apple Watch charging puck.

I can see a lot of second gen AirPods being returned because of this. I shall just buy a second wireless charger to charge my AirPods. This should be a lesson to Apple not to announce publicly products especially at their own keynotes until they are confident that they can get them to market. They were too premature with announcing AirPower.

And life goes on. No worries.

Imagine if MacRumors did a premature giveaway for this like they did with AirPods 2, lol

I was never interested in it. I always thought it was too big. I don't know where I'd put it. I also don't have Airpods and I like my little watch charging stand. I just have 2 phone sized wireless chargers in my house, and they work perfect.

There is no shame in trying to create a tech product that has groundbreaking technology and not being successful. However, there is shame in announcing it as if you know you can do it then can't! Now each time Apple has an event and says a product is coming "This Fall" I will wonder if they are lying.

I still love Apple and was rooting for them to ship this product. As an American I'm so dam proud of Apple.

Apple used to be an industry leader in innovative tech. They should have figured out it wasn't possible before they announced it, now they just look completely inept. They may not care though since it's obvious they are more interested in services now. In fact they can take their money to the bank, literally now.

I still don't quite understand what's not possible. The thing radiates a magnetic field and the phone/ear plugs/macs/aTV/watch/car/whatever charges. If the whatever doesn't need anymore juice it stops charging itself. What does that have to do with the pad? Sounds like a '123,000 Cooks in the kitchen' problem. Can't make anything simple anymore.

So they actually shutdown a committee?? Wow.

Not interested in a 200 dollar charger, but haven’t wireless chargers been around for years? And Apple can’t figure out how to make one?
