Apple Officially Cancels AirPower

The is really disappointing:

1) they announced it
2) they put first the AirPods 2 with wireless charger on sale! A lot of people bought that because they plan to buy the AirPower!
3) AirPower is mentioned on the new AirPod box

This is ridiculous

This is without contest, the biggest tech blunder ever in history. Apple’s reputation is done. Finished. People will remember this for ages. How can people trust Apple anymore after this? Think about how people purchased an iPhone just to use AirPower. From now on I will never ever trust Apple with anything. Nothing. It’s over. Unless it’s physically in a store, it’s all vaporware from now on. Sorry, Apple, doesn’t matter if you have a shipping date. Unless it’s in a store, it’s vaporware.

Yeah, the most successful CEO in the world needs to go because you are disappointed. Please tell us about the wonderful products that you create? Tell us about the millions of people using your products and services. It's like you have no idea how silly you sound. Tim's going no where and you have no say in the matter.

Yeah if you have already done a first order on Google Express, then it is probably better to buy direct from Best Buy. Otherwise it is only $100 with the coupon. Both actually seem to be sold via Best Buy, but you would only get reward via BB direct.

Anyways, looks like a very high-quality 3 device solution. From my quick research, seems the be the only high-quality solution for all 3 (Airpods, Watch, and iPhone).

Had to get something since this AirPower cancellation is a shocker, and there's VERY FEW alternatives - this Nomad one being the only reputable one I could find.

Makes sense. Some people would buy it (not me), but they got to the party way late.

A friend of mine fits this description and I really don't understand. I bought a $20 Anker Qi charger for my iPhone X and it's great.

I can see a lot of second gen AirPods being returned because of this. I shall just buy a second wireless charger to charge my AirPods. This should be a lesson to Apple not to announce publicly products especially at their own keynotes until they are confident that they can get them to market. They were too premature with announcing AirPower.

Two reasons - once it comes out, has a negative impact on re-sell value potentially.

New iPhone will have wireless charging built in anyway. You might not even need the mat after all.
 
Imagine if after eliminating the headphone jack from iPhones they had failed to get AirPods right!

Now THAT would have looked really bad! At least you can still charge all your Apple devices the old fashioned way.
