Apple’s only fault on this was ever announcing the product. It shows how difficult engineering it was (combined with maybe too lofty expectations) if Apple couldn’t do it.

As for those saying Apple is failing, this is far from them being on a downward spiral. This is them cutting their losses and not releasing a bad product.

Agree. They really shouldn’t pre-announced anything really until it’s ready for sale. The Mac Pro was the last time. Announced June 2013. On sale in December 2013. Shipped Jan 2014. Never updated.

But Apple will always get more scrutiny than other companies. And more nutters on forums calling the downfall because of a cancelled product. If only I had a dollar for every cancelled google, Microsoft or Samsung product...

Well I know some people are disappointed, but better to cancel a product than launch something that does not work as well as it should. If there is a lesson here don't pre-announce products before they are ready.

Lesson to learn from this Apple:

Don't make an announcement about a product, that has not released the going into production stage.

From what I can see.... you need to remove your iPhone case to charge it?
Because it’s pictured with a phone with no case? Apple doesn’t post any pics if it’s phones in a case. Every one of my devices work on all my Qi chargers with an Apple branded case on. Nothing in Nomad’s wording states it doesn’t work with a case, only not with a magnetic or metal back.

I’m fairly sure this is a April’s fools joke by Apple.
They definitely wouldn’t have included the AirPower moniker on the AirPods box, launched wireless charging cases, and designed the Powerbeats Pro to charge wirelessly without AIRPOWER! It’s launching MONDAY

If it is - the laugh is on me and all the other sceptical people here. If not - I hope they learn a lesson to not have us waiting one more time for an announced product that will never see the light of day

Google, Microsoft and Samsung have a history of releasing products that are not finished.

There are the laws of physics that cannot be broken.
No matter how hard you try the concept of placing a device anywhere on the pad and have it optimally charge just doesn't work. if you understand electric and magnetic field theory, you know that.
but they would it thought of that before even making the announcement public
I'm not talking about the "we quit" announcement
I'm talking about we are going to make an air power announcement

why they didn't try to make one under closed doors first before opening their mouths
and if they failed well no problem

but making it public to then say, we can't
for me that is an embarrassment

anyway doesn't Samsung has one, there is even a new Samsung copycat 43% cheaper
so I guess it is possible after all

I don't think that is not possible , I think that apple quits
they don't care about hardware now, now they are focus on services

and people dare to say that Tim is doing and excellent job
yes internally for apple and for all the share holders
but very bad for the costumer, at least that is my perception
many are free to disagree

this shocking new comes a few day after giving the most boring keynote ever

No, it’s not. Apple released an -official- statement stating that the Aiepower is in fact canceled, and a VP of Apple, Dan Riccio even commented that the Airpower is no longer in existence. There’s nothing joking about that matter. It’s not coming to fruitution at all.

I was looking to get one wireless charger that would charge all my devices at once.

Are there other products out there that'll charge my Watch, Airpods, and iPhone together?

There will be I am sure... I have a single watch and iPhone charger from amazon works great but does need a qc3 charger. I am sure they’ll add a space for the wireless EarPods.. but the point is they are separate not overlapping so technically easy to do.

It's not a joke...

Class Action lawsuit in three, two, one....

("I bought my AirPods with the understanding that I would be able to buy this here charging mat depicted here on the back")

Good.

It isn’t wireless if you have to plug the thing into the socket first. May as well just use the lightning cable.
This is the most idiotic thing I've read all year!!!! Is wifi not wireless as the router is plugged into the wall?

if its unsolvable, how come there are other multi device wireless charging stations already on sale? Some the are aimed at apple products...? Some apologising for their incompetence!!

Apple's idea was to use one large coil to be able to do power delivery to as much devices you could fit on it.

So far, nobody has been able to do this.

Other multi-device charging stations use independent coils for each device that require specific placement.

I'll give em credit for trying to be innovative. unfortunately they picked something that we currently don't have the means to accomplish
