Good luck with those lawsuits. Let me know how that works out for you.

Lesson here kids: This is what happens when people jump the gun and pre-order to have the newest, coolest technology on the block. This right here is why Apple Koolaid drinkers get the criticism they do*

*Disclaimer: I own multiple Apple products, and can afford them.

The lesson will be learned on Apple’s side when those class action lawsuits pop up. It’s literally printed on hard paper that is shipped to consumers. There is no gray area here about “jumping” the gun. It’s straight up false advertisement. Apple shot themselves in the foot.

Another lesson for Apple to learn in this: don’t pre-announce something you can’t deliver!

I don't understand. Why cancel to project altogether? Did it turn out that this type of device just isn't feasible, or that it wasn't worth the R&D cost? Sounds like the former.
It is not physically feasible. Engineers knew from the very beginning, other people in the company didn't believe it.

why I wish for the old Apple, I lost confidence in the new Apple should not have announced it until it was ready to put in production.

Haha haha that’ll teach them, I hope it knocked the share price down too!!

DON’T show off to the world products that are no where near launch ready!

Also I’m guessing that the Apple Watch will not charge on a Qi standard charger? If it does great, if it doesn’t then anyone shows bought an Apple Watch 3 or 4 has wasted money on tech Apple put in there thar you’ll never be able to use thanks to Apple!!!

Over promised under delivered.

HAHAHA! YEAH! I actually stopped by an Apple Store and asked a “genius” about AirPower and then I was like, Oops LOL. And she was like all nice and said: The iPhone works with standard wireless charging pads and I was like: "Oh I know, because I’ve been using this feature for years with my Samsung.” Then I walked out. Awesome!

This is NOT an April Fool's joke:

1) The cancellation announcement will adversely affect the stock price of the potential suppliers. The SEC doesn't consider intentionally misleading product announcements, or cancellations, "jokes";
2) The cancellation announcement might adversely affect Apple's stock price. Again, the SEC doesn't have much of a sense of humor regarding intentionally misleading announcements;
3) Apple's announcement of cancellation will inevitably lead to some returns of the wireless charging cases over the weekend, not something Apple would consider "funny";
4) The explanation of the overheating would never be put forth if untrue, as it would poison future sales, even if later retracted.
Shorter answer: It's March 29th

I want someone to make a video of Phil Schiller saying “we know how to do this” during the AirPower announcement, then an image of this article with the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme playing lol.

This is something Steve Jobs will say.

Big iPod touch

He killed Aperature. He depreciated Final Cut Studio. This is the man who erased Computer from Apple Computer. Jobs was a traitor to everything that made Apple (Computer) great.

If only their high standards for hardware applied to other products like, oh I don’t know, the crap-tastic butterfly keyboard on the 2016 and onwards MacBook Pros.
It's an excuse. Maybe they scrapped because they thought it wouldn't sell well for the price they picked. Apple is all about money.

Ah well, guess I will be continuing to charge my Airpods via the lightning cable for the near foreseeable future.
It's like 15 minutes to charge with iPad charger, i think i can handle it once or twice a week.

Fair point. It just seems such a shambles and, I would have thought producing something that Belkin can produce (but better) wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Apple. I think it was a mistake to announce it without knowing when it would be ready.
Yeah, they’ve learned their lesson on that one. Ridiculous to announce something that wasn’t ready and fully functional. Just not smart.

I also think there is a lot more to this story, but we will never know.

Enough has been said, but what a blunder... This would have never fly in the past. They made so much noise about a product they haven't even figured out yet. It really undermines Apple's technological prowess in my mind. I will question new products more now and will be less likely to be an early adaptor...
