Yeah, Nickelback has won a ton of awards too. I'd still call them a **** band. Either way, I'm sorry that I appear to have upset you.
[doublepost=1525304258][/doublepost]I'm sure there will be all sorts of genres for a variety of tastes and preferences. I just don't really believe that there's some mass, untapped market out there of people that want to stream video content but wouldn't/aren't already doing so via Netflix, Hulu, HBO, or one of the several other services available. Apple would have to offer content that was ridiculously good at an attractive price to get people to ditch one of those other services or add Apple's in addition to those other services.
When I think of Apple products (services and content included), I think of the wide range of people I know. Family, friends, co-workers, etc. They're all across the spectrum from "hates Apple" to "loves Apple and gets all the products." At no point on that spectrum do I imagine some sort of Apple version of HBO being all that popular with the people I know.
EDIT: Maybe, MAYBE I could see this being popular if they did something like Amazon does with Prime and bundle it in with Apple Music as like, a $5 addition.
Yeah, I'm thinking they'll probably hoping to get at least one breakout hit (ala Handmaid's Tale) to gain traction. I think if there's a series that people really want to see or gets some pop culture momentum behind it (like Strangers Things or GOT), that even people who don't necessarily like Apple will still check it out.
The issue is going to be how to keep people long term. For the most part, Netflix & Hulu have a built in audience (although there are still those who will only sign up to watch the new season of something, then cancel when they're finished.
Pricing is going to be key. I say bundling with Apple Music is smart. More people are more likely to sign up, even out of curiosity.
