Everyone who paid 600$ for a handset phone is entitled to a handset phone that works for 600$ worth. That includes being able to hold it in their hands to place and receive calls. There is no inflated sense of entitlement in that.

Everyone who paid 600$ for a handset phone is entitled to a handset phone that works for 600$ worth. That includes being able to hold it in their hands to place and receive calls. There is no inflated sense of entitlement in that.

Then return it if not completely satisfied. Surely!!!!!!!

Buy a motorola, nokia, blackberry.....anything!!!!!
 
Right now, I think most purchasers would settle for a "Our bad, we'll investigate and see what we find".

These would be purchasers that weren't hugged enough by their mommies.

If any customers need reassurances that a major electronics corporation with a reputation built on usability is looking to cure an embarrassing problem in a major product launch - I am surprised they can get to sleep at night for fear the sun won't be back in the morning.

They're working on a software fix. If you don't believe the software fix will work, return the damn phone and wait until either the software fix is proven to work, or they embarrassingly implement a recall and replace the phone with hardware that works. Then you can pick up the iPhone 4.1, with no uncomfortable twisted panties.

Did you read ALL of my post? I said the real fanboys are the ones that are putting up with temporary fixes such as using cases or bumpers to mask the problem, yet still call Apple liars and presume that the upcoming fix is just smoke coming out of Apple's behind, yet they refuse to return the iPhone 4. Since you don't have any issues why would you think that qualifies you?

They are working on a software fix to an issue with the bar display showing 5 bars until very low in the signal band. This is not a fix to the 20 dbm loss of signal when holding the phone. Did you even read their statement ?

And yet the iPhone 4 is the most successful iPhone launch ever. Gosh, I wish my PR messes were that successful.

I think we need to see their next launch before we can see what damage has been done. I've bought the last 3 iPhones on release day but it won't happen again.
 
Because I'm hoping that if enough people like me keep pushing Apple then something will be done, otherwise there would be no point. I don't think anyone is saying that there won't ever be a fix, we just don't expect (from what Apple has said) the upcoming fix to solve the issue, just try and mask it or make it look less significant.

If you can't live with either - then take your money and find another product.

If none of those three make you happy to wait for a fix or find another phone - then may i suggest the problem lies less with apple and more with maintaining a mature attitude to consumer purchasing.

Its grown men whining like spoilt schoolgirls demanding everything from free bracelets to hugs and puppies that is the problem.

The solution is patience and keeping calm.

In other news... you all have too much time on your hands - it is not an issue, any more than standing on a hose will lower the pressure to your sprinkler - SO DON'T STAND ON THE HOSE, THEN!.

I said that I don't expect it too. Not that I know they won't. Apple will have to sort this mess out soon and if it's in the next few weeks then I don't want to get rid of my iPhone 4. Which part of that did you not understand?

You are assuming they can. Say there is a major recall and redesign. That still isn't what you paid for!
At the moment it isn't what you perceive you have paid for. So why argue with them? Just return it.
