Anyone know what happens when you sign up and you already paid for Apple Music for a year?
So far the indications are that you get billed twice.
I’m assuming Apple will fix that in future.
Interesting to see that they have no annual Apple One subscription plans available.

What does the current AppleTV lack that you want? It's 4K, HDR enabled. Yes I'm sure they'll release an updated one at some point but what functionality does it lack that you want?

It's a fair question and I knew someone would ask me this.

It pretty much does it all, you're right. It doesn't support the HLG version of HDR (or at least it didn't the last time I checked). I don't know if that's just a software issue or if it needs a beefier processor to handle it (I doubt it - I'm sure it's fast enough if it can decode Dolby Digital).

The main reason, however, is simply not wanting to purchase hardware that's several years old when there are strong rumours pointing to a refresh being on the way soon. Plus, to come back on topic, if I do get more involved in Apple Arcade as part of Apple One then those rumours are pointing to newer hardware that will be capable of playing more sophisticated games. Win win.

Plus there's the horrible Apple TV remote. I'm definitely up for an improvement on that front. I hate it!

Does that answer your question?

I signed up on my Apple TV where they give you two Apple IDs - one for Store and one for iCloud.

So if I subscribe does the 2 TB iCloud get properly assigned to the iCloud Apple ID?

It would be nice if they would just calculate the value remaining in your pre-paid annual subscriptions and free trails and deduct it off the price, but that appears not to be the case. I guess I'll wait until those things expire before signing up.

I wish you could mix and match the different services. I'd like the extra iCloud storage (since I'm already paying for it) along with Apple Music, News, and maybe Fitness, but I couldn't care less about Apple TV or Arcade.

Yes, because you choose which account you want it on.

To sign up for Apple One on an iPhone:

  1. Open Settings App
  2. Tap on Your Name at the top
  3. Tap on Subscriptions
  4. Tap on Apple One

The prompt for Apple One is still in the process of showing up for all users, so keep checking if you don't see it right away. Alternatively, see this for more detailed instructions:
In addition to getting unified billing, customers can save money by bundling services together with Apple One. At the low end, the Individual tier offers savings of $6 per month, while the Family plan offers a savings of over $8 per month, and the Premier plan offers a savings of over $25 per month, compared to standard monthly pricing.

An overview of the three tiers of Apple One available:
  • Individual: Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage for $14.95 per month
  • Family: Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 200GB of iCloud storage for $19.95 per month, can be shared among up to six family members
  • Premier: Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and 2TB of iCloud storage for $29.95 per month, can be shared among up to six family members
At launch, the Premier tier is limited to the United States, Australia, Canada, and the UK, as these are the only countries where Apple News+ is currently available. And while the Premier tier includes Apple's new Fitness+ service, which will offer workout videos and more, the service does not launch until later this year.

Apple One includes a 30-day free trial for any Apple services that customers do not already have. Once subscribed, customers can use the services included in their bundle on any platform where the services are available, such as the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, and more.

To save even more, customers in the United States can pay for their Apple One subscription plan with the Apple Card to receive 3% Daily Cash per month.

I subscribed to the Premier Plan, but I’m unable to share Apple Music with my family. Is this in error since it’s so new? Every time I try to share Apple music with family it takes me directly to the Apple Music app to choose the family plan for $14.99. Any ideas?

Save money... by spending money! It’s actually a ave money by spending less money.

OK I finally got it to work. Be warned the price is not prorated. I literally just had my Apple Music payment come off my Apple Card yesterday and I was charged full price today for the bundle.
I signed up for One this afternoon. My account (Apple) shows this mornings charges for Music and News are fully refunded. Not showing on my card yet, but the original charges are still only pending. It’ll get there.

Pretty ingenious pricing there Apple... I really just want the family plan, but more storage, but the next step up is 2TB... at that point keeping my 2TB and the family plan equates to the price of the premium plan at $30. I mean all I need is Music for Family and Storage to share for photos and that's $25. I can look at it as I save 60$ a year by a la carte for just the stuff I need, or I can get a bunch more services that I will sorta of use for $60 more a year. I say sorta because I really don't want to, but for example Apple News+ is well integrated its really easy to choose an Apple News+ article. Think I'll stick with the extra 60$ for something else.

Doesn’t appear yet for my country Malta. I pay for 2tb, Apple TV+ and Apple Music separately!

Same here. Quite disappointed there was no trial, prorated charge... something

Edit: I guess I should've read through a couple hundred posts before hitting reply. I checked my history and my services charged October 10 to as recently as today are identified as refunded.

I have an ATV4k, and it’s great. That said, if I were in your position I too would wait for a refresh. I will likely buy the refreshed version when it is release and put my current one in the bedroom. Can’t hurt to expand the range of HomeKit.

Worked for me, but they do charge the full monthly price even if you already subscribed to all the individual services and were recently charged for them. Not sure if they’ll pro rate a refund, add time at the end, or you just are sucking up a potential double-charge for your first month.
Pretty they will refund you, if not Apple support are pretty good

From what I am reading here is that it is directing you to move your iCloud over to the subscription account. can anyone confirm what happens to your existing iCloud data? Does it all migrate automatically? If so, I guess that is a step in the right direction, though my Apple Card will still be tied to a different iCloud account 😢
