Apple One allows you to subscribe to a bundle of up to six of Apple's services for a discounted all-in-one monthly price, and its value just went up in an artificial way.

Apple-One-Apps-Feature-2.jpg

The reason why Apple One just became more valuable is because Apple TV+ received a price increase this week in the U.S. and select other countries. In the U.S., for example, the cost of the service increased from $9.99 per month to $12.99 per month. However, Apple One plans with Apple TV+ did not receive any corresponding price increases.

There are three Apple One tiers, all with Apple TV+ included:
  • Individual ($19.95/month): Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+ (50GB)
  • Family ($25.95/month): Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+ (200GB)
  • Premier ($37.95/month): Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and iCloud+ (2TB)
All in all, you can now potentially save even more money by switching to Apple One as opposed to paying for Apple TV+ and other services separately.

Alternatively, you can switch to the annual Apple TV+ subscription, which also avoided a price increase. In the U.S., that plan remains available for $99 per year.

Many streaming services like Disney+ and HBO Max offer annual plans at a discount compared to paying for 12 months individually, although it is worth keeping in mind that there is an opportunity cost to paying in full upfront.

This is a win-win situation for Apple, which gains an instant revenue boost from customers who stick with the monthly Apple TV+ plan, while boosting the appeal of its Apple One and annual Apple TV+ plans with a higher spend or longer commitment.

Nope. Still vastly overpriced.

Apple forces their "Arcade" into any plan. For those not interested in that "feature" then the plan will never be worth the price. If they allowed you to select among services so News could replace Arcade, I would join right up.

I dropped cable TV ( Comcast ) for that very reason. I refuse to pay for 43 channels, etc., that I have zero use for and will never watch or use. Sell to me ala carte, at a reasonable price, and I am good. I don't do 'bundles' as a rule.

The problem is, I get Apple TV+ for free from T-Mobile and I don’t want ANY of Apple’s other services. The company has been trying to ram free trials of Apple Arcade and Apple News down my throat for years (every time I buy a new device, it begins again). I don’t play computer games. Others may enjoy them - and that’s fine. But I think they are a waste of my time. I have been a journalist for 51 years, so I don’t need Apple’s curated news. I’ll pick my own sources, thank you. Apple Music just comes up short with too limited a library. Besides, I get Pandora for free. And while the 50GB tier of cloud storage is a good deal at 99 cents a month as a stand-alone, I just don’t need it.

I pay Apple Music and Apple TV Yearly and use 200GB iCloud. When I break that down in to 12 Months, I am still cheaper and I don`t really need Arcade.

It really doesn’t seem like the people designing these plans have a single socially active teenager in their household. Mine alone burns through well over 200 GB of iCloud space—far beyond what Apple seems to think should suffice for an entire family.

At this point, Apple One feels like one of those subscription bundles where you genuinely enjoy a tiny fraction of what’s offered, and the rest is just fluff.

The key there is “at a reasonable price.” And that’s not going to happen. Look to the price of streaming services to get an idea of what the industry thinks is a “reasonable price.” Ala carte sounds good - we all want it in theory. But the reality isn’t very good at all.

is this site just shilling for apple now? lol

Now? Tech community sites focused on a particular brand mainly exist to keep people talking about that brand.

Document and community sites are promotional tools, almost as clever as convincing people to buy clothing covered in the bran logo: people pay for the privilege to be a walking billboard fir the brand.

“Community sites” are essentially the same thing. A site that gets people talking about Apple constantly is ultimately promoting Apple.

AppleTV+ raising prices reminds me of when I was on the membership committee at my old country club. We lagged behind all of our peer clubs in value and membership and our leadership’s suggestion was always to raise the price. Shockingly that didn’t work. Now I’m not a member.
I don’t think AppleTV+ has a small subscriber base because it was too cheap.

I completely agree. A part of the problem is that the movie producers force the bundles onto the cable companies. That is a part of their business model that supports and pays for the lesser movies/brands and actor development. I don't care to pay for that.

I have not had cable service since 2008, and I haven't missed it. I have found more to do with my life than park in front of a TV. I have never bothered to count the money saved, but certainly it is in the thousands.

And even over-the-air broadcasters (your traditional network affiliate TV stations) have adopted the ESPN business model. In addition to having commercials, they are also demanding payment from cable companies to be included on their systems.

I get my Apple TV+ included with T-Mobile. T-Mobile better not get any ideas.

Interesting that the Apple Music yearly subscription is more expensive than the Apple TV+ yearly subscription, but I guess their music library is more expansive than their video library.

I have YouTube subscription, much better for me.

I have iCloud, and at selected months sub. to Apple TV, that's it.

I've tested 🍏One earlier, or what was available for European's users at the time.
So NOT worth it for me. Might be different in different countries.

-I don't play games.
-I don't listen to popular music, not even classical anymore - I meditate instead.
I experiment and listen at times to some frequency meditation music that are measured in Hertz (Hz) though - interesting.
-The news/sport news I get for free - I pay some of it on my tax though - where I live - included broadcasting of a lot of events, when our most popular/best teams/athletes competes.

Carriage fees by local broadcasters has been going on since the early 90s. By the mid 2000s, all of them were requiring it.

We solved that by having a roof antenna as we got rid of DirecTV in 2017.. Well, we've always had a roof antenna everywhere I've lived.

Wow. It’s almost as if a company creating artificial pricing choices can make those pricing choices be a win win for them.

I get my ATV from T-Mobile as well. But I don't expect T-Mobile to eat any increase imposed on them by Tim.
