The unexpected value in Apple One for me is getting around news sites paywalls. News+ is a hidden gem, the value of my news and magazine subscriptions that I no longer pay for supersedes the price of Apple One — and that's not counting Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Fitness+ that I use every day.

At one point, we had DISH at three properties. To get the one channel we wanted, we had to buy the top tier at all three locations. Close to $900 per month. As streaming came along, Dish was removed from the three locations (two of which have now sold to simply our existence). We also shuttered Cable TV as a complete waste.

So we now have cable internet access at home and the 1GB service is at $160 per month. (About the same service speed as the T-! lines I had as an ISP that were $1,000 per month then). We use Roku devices on all of the TVs at home and in our Airstream trailers.

So now one has to subscribe to each "channel" for the lack of a better word on Roku to see the contents on the likes of Hulu, news outlets, movie channels a nauseam. We are paying more for less than we did 10 years ago.

As an Apple customer since 1990, I do not wish to even consider how much I have paid for all the Apple gear and services since 1990. We upgraded nearly everything to M4 processor family devices last year (M1 Ultra Mac Studio still works just fine with 128Gb memory and 8TB SSD). No need for anything newer unless 32GB memory becomes "not enough" for AI as that was the max choice for my MacBook Air.

Apple services is following the path of the frog in the water as the water is being heated. Suddenly too late for the frog but Apple services have an achilles heal as that there are other options that can be made to do the same thing at much less cost. There also other brands of hardware that will make and receive calls and do word processing along with internet access and are much more wallet friendly.

As our economy could be heading to hard times, discretionary consumer spending will tank like it has in other down turn times and Apple's luxury prices will be detriment to moving inventory. A very quick cancelling of Apple One saves a family a lot of money that can be used for food.

Apple forces their "Arcade" into any plan. For those not interested in that "feature" then the plan will never be worth the price. If they allowed you to select among services so News could replace Arcade, I would join right up.
Agree. I wish it was a "build your own bundle" type of deal. I do get a lot of value out of iCloud Drive, Music, TV and News, but very rarely play a game and haven't touched Fitness once.

The whole Apple One bundle is fairly expensive, but it's working well for me and honestly I haven't found competing services that would save me money and do what I want. Maybe more competitors will evolve, though, and I hope they do.

There wasn’t enough content on Apple TV+ back at $9.99. Definitely not at $12.99. Kind of like Disney I only subscribe for one month out of a year.

Now, if they allowed me bundle this with my annual Apple Music subscription and nothing else for few bucks extra a month I’d buy that in heartbeat.

Talk about playing right into Tim Cook's plan. Of course they didn't raise the price of that yet. They want everyone to do the same thing, and upgrade to One because of the value. Once that spike is over, they will raise the price.

And every additional product you have in One also eats away at your Cloud+ storage unless you intentionally turn off their access.
'The Circle of Life', Apple Edition.

Disney + is a must with young kids. Worth every penny especially going AD free.

I just made that switch, I grabbed AppleTV+ on the sale and fell in love with several shows, and on review last week I realized the top tier of AppleOne is a bit lower than the combination I was paying for (music matching and iCloud storage along with AppleTV). I'm in the transition stage now, so looks like I got lucky with this update.

I tried a few games in Arcade, they feel like they're mostly made for kids so nothing has clicked yet. I'm getting into a health kick lately so Fitness+ may get some activity.

I suspect News will become the go-to for sharing within my family, so many sites have login blocks now that could be a good workaround.

Those 50 GB are [intentionally] a problem unfortunately

Yeah. I started to look at the plans after reading this article, and they basically force you to the premier tier or to pay for more storage. Most people who have been in the Apple ecosystem for years are well over 50GB in photos/videos alone and probably over 200GB too.

iCloud going from 200gb to 2TB is so predatory. Why on earth there is nothing between those tier? Give us at least a 1TB option and then I would consider iCloud

It is, but seems like most are using the same playbook.

With huge gaps between tiers means you’re buying more storage than you probably need.

Microsoft 365: 5Gb > 100GB > 1TB > 6TB
Google Drive: 15GB > 100GB > 2TB
Apple iCloud: 5GB > 200GB > 2TB > 6TB

Wish they has more modular bundles

I already pay for music and would add by and news if there was a deal

No interest in games, cloud, fitness

The math is not mathing for me.

Apple One allows you to subscribe to a bundle of up to six of Apple's services for a discounted all-in-one monthly price, and its value just went up in an artificial way.

Apple-One-Apps-Feature-2.jpg

The reason why Apple One just became more valuable is because Apple TV+ received a price increase this week in the U.S. and select other countries. In the U.S., for example, the cost of the service increased from $9.99 per month to $12.99 per month. However, Apple One plans with Apple TV+ did not receive any corresponding price increases.

There are three Apple One tiers, all with Apple TV+ included:
  • Individual ($19.95/month): Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+ (50GB)
  • Family ($25.95/month): Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+ (200GB)
  • Premier ($37.95/month): Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and iCloud+ (2TB)
All in all, you can now potentially save even more money by switching to Apple One as opposed to paying for Apple TV+ and other services separately.

Alternatively, you can switch to the annual Apple TV+ subscription, which also avoided a price increase. In the U.S., that plan remains available for $99 per year.

Many streaming services like Disney+ and HBO Max offer annual plans at a discount compared to paying for 12 months individually, although it is worth keeping in mind that there is an opportunity cost to paying in full upfront.

This is a win-win situation for Apple, which gains an instant revenue boost from customers who stick with the monthly Apple TV+ plan, while boosting the appeal of its Apple One and annual Apple TV+ plans with a higher spend or longer commitment.

who wrote this ? you won't save more money, you will spend exactly the same amount of money if you are already using Apple One. and if you come from Music, you will spend more money on Apple One. tricking readers into thinking this is "saving money" won't work on the smart ones.

I am dialed into the Google family.
You want my business, make these available on Android.
Google One is a whole different animal.
I would like Apple News.
It used to be cross platform under a different name until Apple swallowed it up making it Apple only.
Make this available for Windows.
Money is money and there are people outside the Apple ecosystem.
I have a 2021 Apple TV 4K 2nd Gen. and may get the new one this year.
That is all I really want from Apple.
Bring Apple One to ATV, some of which is already there, and we can talk.
Again, I want Apple News!

50GB is abysmal even for the base Apple One ... I'll stay with my student plan of Apple Music (+ TV as a bonus) and 200GB iCloud ... both cost like 3,50€

although I am not a student, it verified me lol
