i'm so disappointed they won't be live streaming this. i don't understand why they wouldn't? the last 4 or 5 have been live streamed, and this is a big event. it's been hyped in the media like crazy as far as i can tell.

honestly, this is the event i've been waiting on for soooo long. out of any of the apple devices i've wanted it's been this one more than any.

:(:confused::(

Well, that answers my question. Probably because they won't be launching any new products today (meaning something completely new, not counting iPad refresh).

The plot thickens . . .

Random House's website is down.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

It does seem odd that they have decided not to broadcast this live.

Off all the events that you would expect to go live the iPad 2 event would be the one.

Strange Apple...

As I recall the previous ones were rumored to have been done to test the new data center. It may not be more common until the data center opens.

my prediction:

iPad 2:
-Facetime App
-PhotoBooth App
-Camera App
-2 Cameras
-2 Versions- GSM + CDMA and Wi-Fi Only
-(maybe 3): GSM, CDMA, and Wi-Fi Only
-A5 Chip (1.2 GHZ)
-Improved Display (maybe retina but doubt it)- not necessarily resolution
-iOS 4.3
-32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB
-512 MB or 1 GB RAM (1GB if improved display)
-Black Carbon Fiber Body (maybe white as well)
-Maybe Steve Jobs (facetime most likely or short appearance)
-MobileMe
-maybe thunderbolt

One more thing...
-White iPhone 4
-White iPad 2
-apple tv facetime?
-video call to england (i mean the event they are having at the BBC center- the live video of the california event)
-free/updated MobileMe

What no LTE? I guess I can always dream.

Thunderbolt will soon cater for USB and SD (using adapters/dongles), but offers a lot more speed when used native. Won't take long before Thunderbolt-enabled peripherals will appear - and then you would not want to go back ;)

Will soon .. well that doesn't help me much now to be honest. I don't want to buy all new peripherals, I would be happy using the ones I have (without a dongle). Besides .. what would you do with it that needed this massive bandwidth anyways?

Besides, the whole thing lives and dies with the support Apple puts in there. Just like for USB now there is only a very limited support (eg. no printing, no real data access).

Plus isn't that an Intel product in the first place? Why would they support putting it in an ARM based product?

T.

Of course there will be a live stream. Do you think the people invited to the BBC television london centre will just listen to audio and Fry's soothing accent?

Maybe new Apple store anouncement. Apple stores in the Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Sweeden, Poland, Russia and Turkey.

Why? So far there is very few devices supporting thunderbolt at all .. USB or even SD would be way more useful for most people I believe.

well they have to "sell" the thunderbolt feature in their new mbp somehow (otherwise theres no use for it) and what better way than to introduce it with a new iDevice

If this thing has thunderbolt I'll ***** bricks

Why? What else besides connecting your iPad to a display, would a Thunderbolt port be good for? And a Mini DisplayPort would make much more sense here.. (cheaper to implement etc.).

No, we didn't. General assumption was its a private stream.

No live stream?

Either:

1) It's on TV.
2) Apple cba.
3) The data centre was used last time, to "host" the live stream. Apple may be using the data centre for MobileMe now.
4) They haven't told everyone yet.
