The wait is terrible, if only because my company has a large order pending an announcement and availability. I just want to know what I will be deploying!

The big ipad 2 question:

Will%20it%20Float.JPG

No - the real question is: Will it blend? :D

Why? So far there is very few devices supporting thunderbolt at all .. USB or even SD would be way more useful for most people I believe.
Thunderbolt will soon cater for USB and SD (using adapters/dongles), but offers a lot more speed when used native. Won't take long before Thunderbolt-enabled peripherals will appear - and then you would not want to go back ;)

Um, if Apple is going with a free MobileMe service as has been rumored but which many always considered doubtful, they may suspend charging people for renewals. It's not really a leap.

I didn't know people used/paid for MobileMe? I thought that was one of the reasons why they were making it free, because there wasn't enough support from the community to keep it as a subscription model.

@Mattie Apple will never add HDMI or SD to any device. They want you to spend money for an Apple dongle to do that, like the current model.

If those mockups are accurate, iPad 2 is looking ugly and the refurb store for an iPad 1 will be calling. The rest of the leaked specs are snore-some.

i'm so disappointed they won't be live streaming this. i don't understand why they wouldn't? the last 4 or 5 have been live streamed, and this is a big event. it's been hyped in the media like crazy as far as i can tell.

honestly, this is the event i've been waiting on for soooo long. out of any of the apple devices i've wanted it's been this one more than any.

:(:confused::(

my prediction:

iPad 2:
-Facetime App
-PhotoBooth App
-Camera App
-2 Cameras
-2 Versions- GSM + CDMA and Wi-Fi Only
-(maybe 3): GSM, CDMA, and Wi-Fi Only
-A5 Chip (1.2 GHZ)
-Improved Display (maybe retina but doubt it)- not necessarily resolution
-iOS 4.3
-32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB
-512 MB or 1 GB RAM (1GB if improved display)
-Black Carbon Fiber Body (maybe white as well)
-Maybe Steve Jobs (facetime most likely or short appearance)
-MobileMe
-maybe thunderbolt

One more thing...
-White iPhone 4
-White iPad 2
-apple tv facetime?
-video call to england (i mean the event they are having at the BBC center- the live video of the california event)
-free/updated MobileMe

finally, a reasonable, well thought out, and most likely wish list that I +1 and completely agree with. :D:apple: is it 10amPST yet?

I hope the reason for the store being down for so long is because they are lowering prices.

iLounge also claims that we may not see immediate availability of the new iPad, at least in significant quantities, with volume shipments not expected for 2-4 weeks.
The Apple Store is down; Monday's article said "Apple Cuts Off iPad Supplies to Resellers Ahead of Media Event". That pretty much spells immediate availability to me.

Thunderbolt will soon cater for USB and SD (using adapters/dongles), but offers a lot more speed when used native. Won't take long before Thunderbolt-enabled peripherals will appear - and then you would not want to go back ;)

Once you've gone wireless though, any cable based syncing is annoying no matter how quick it is. It's just nuts that you can't sync an iPad or iPhone wirelessly.

Even my 4 year old Nokia syncs wirelessly.

Hmmm so I wonder- if the iPad 2 is super cool, and the price plan is better, can I return my iPad 1 to Verizon and buy the new one? Huh? :D

thundercats

Man, thunderbolt would be awesome on this! And not even because of it's own connectivity (although that would be handy when enough TB devices are actually released), but the fact that you can use adapters with it to use USB, firewire, and probably SD, THAT would be very handy indeed... What's always annoyed me the most about the ipad is the limited connectivity (always syncing, without a more "direct" connection). Although I wouldn't mind upgrades to iOS that allow the user to directly access the file system... or at least some of it!

Well, at the very least, in a couple of hours we will all finally know which rumours are true and which ones aren't!

hopefully the new ipad won't suck! :)

I want too know this to, after that one live stream it's just so boring reading Engadget's live blog. I want to see it as it's happening.

I think they pre-announced it by an hour last time, so I guess we'll know soon for sure. Doesn't seem like it will be one though :(

It does seem odd that they have decided not to broadcast this live.

Off all the events that you would expect to go live the iPad 2 event would be the one.

Strange Apple...
