Slip? The Canadian Apple Store went online with 7-10 day shipping times, with the gold model times slipping to October literally within 10 minutes.

There's no chance Apple is artificially lowering supplies for launch day. That would be a terrible business idea. It causes lost sales and PR doesn't cover lost sales. If supplies are low it is more likely that Apple couldn't get enough produced for initial build up.

I saw them with the 1-3 days when I woke up a little before 7. Even if you slept in, you could have gotten it. Except good.

Still Amazes me

That Apple can't have more stock ready by product release in the 21st century.

They should at least keep all their early beta testers happy with quick shipment.

Carrier orders getting priority.

I JUST (8:15am EST) ordered my 64gb iPhone at a T-Mobile store and it's coming by Oct 1st.

The reps were told Carrier stores are getting priority over on-line orders because of the lack of supply. So if you order from a carrier, you're likely to get an earlier time than someone who orders from Apple directly on-line.

Just an FYI

You realize that 'initial stock' is several million phones, right? This isn't like they made 10,000 and ran out. You've got the most advance SOC in mobile being made, a brand new fingerprint sensor that needs to be up to snuff, etc. Takes time to build millions upon millions that pass quality checks.

And guess what? If my launch 5S has a problem, the great thing about Apple is that you bring it in to the store and walk out with a new one (which I did last week on my very nearly out of warranty 5 due to dust under the camera lens....now I have a new phone...well, my wife will have a new 5). Not really concerned.

Demand is high. Gotta love it.

Funny I was going to say its low.. last year was much harder to get on the web site, and within an hour it seemed all phones had slipped to 7-10 days or even 30 days.. i think its a slow seller this year. Hoping the iPhone 6 will be a big step up though.

I got in line at AT&T store at midnight. At 3am Eastern I went online and preordered 64gb gold and received my 1-3 day confirmation e-mail at 3:01. By 3:05 it had slipped to 7-11 days.

I decided to also wait it out at the store to see if it was a good decision. Turns out it was, there is nothing but Space Grey at the AT&T store in Chattanooga, TN.

A lot of people in line said they wanted gold. I think apple severely miscalculated the demand. Part of it is most people feel the Gold is the only phone that when people see it they will know you have a 5s

I suspect the 5c will have just as good margins and it will be more likely to be replaced sooner than the 5s. So those sales of 5c are going to be a gold mine for Apple.

If you mean "replaced by costumers for a newer iPhone" than I very much doubt that.
The 5s is the phone bought by people who just NEED to have the newest&best every year, so that quite a number to start with. This is also why I would guess that average margins is much higer here as more people are willing to spend on the 32 and 64GB models, spending 100 or 200$/Euro for an upgrade that cost :apple: south of 50$.

People buying the 5c are most likely casual users who won't buy a new phone before the old one breaks.

Even if you meant "replaced by Apple next year", I'd guess that the 5c will be moved to the bottom slot and stay available there for quite a while.

Says the guy who has just gotten his 1st SmartPhone, a slightly used 5 with 64GB + a semi-unlimited non-binding contract at 9.95Euro/month :p

I'm pretty sure the shipping times for almost all models slipped at by 12:07

I ordered 2 at 12:04 and 12:05
1-3 days

My friend ordered at 12:07
7-10 days

I went back looking at status and it said 7-10 days at 12:09

I ordered from AT&T Premiere at 2:44 Central. My order status was just updated.

They weren't kidding when they said supplies were tight. I went to T-Mobile and Verizon -- neither had any stock and said they had to order it online.

I didn't try Sprint because I already have them and their service is terrible (in northeast Ohio). My 5 barely gets 3G, but I guess I'll just sit this one out and upgrade to the 6 next year.

I agree.... supply is low, but demand is lower than a "digit" release too.... partially cuz 5C is canabalizing tings, and partially because the S is NOT all that and more... there are NOT long lines of people camping overnight, and one CAN get one online easily, even still...

Question is, why would you want to get the gold iPhone 5S when most people will put them in a protective case anyway?

Just curious, what is "Sacto" short for, Sanctomonious?

I don't think Apple purposefully limit the stock. I think they knew they were going to run out. Thats why the 5s never had the preorder.
And I have a feeling Apple didn't think Gold will sell that much as well..lol

After seeing this phone in person, gold is my least favorite option. The silve is my favorite by a hair.

I just got my order is done processing email, i was able to place my order last night at around 9:30 pm, east coast time. I it was through the Premier storefront from AT&T's website, i think because i get a discount through my employer... it let me get on early and place the order.

ordered a 64gb space grey through ATT site, and my estimated ship date now that the order is done "processing" is for 10/21 - 10/30.

when i placed the order originally it said 7-14 days.

Oh well

Went with my wife to get her our first iphone this morning at the local Apple store (her work decided to pay for the data plan!).

Nothing but black (err <space gray>) available. Place (in NJ) was mobbed when we got there at 8AM - probably a 1&1/2hr wait. She wanted a white one, so they let us in but not to buy, and after looking decided on the silver, so at least that won't be the longest wait time.
