Tim Cook should stop saying that Apple have great stuff in the pipeline, whats the point? It does not help at all and that is not the way Apple have talked in the past.

What do you expect him to say? To 99% of Apple's customers, new product announcements are surprises. And even the nerds who read the rumor sites rarely get it all right. I don't think Apple's too worried about the level of "surprise" with the iPhone and iPad anymore. Everyone knows that we're likely to get a new one every year.

I'm not arguing with you. But that's a long post based on a semi-sarcastic comment I made which also happened to acknowledge the fact that I was separating forum readers from the general public already.

And by not arguing with you - I mean - you presented your opinion. Some of which I agree - and the other parts I don't.

How about .. just for once, we remember this

"We don't want to be more specific, but we have some really great stuff coming in the fall and across all of 2014."

and look back?

Someone willing?

Love my iphone (4s) and retina mbp.. the rest? Not so much, been let down with itunes match. Imac needs to go back as screen is all mottled/dusty on inside(!) (known problem).

I probably know more about all of the iTunes Match bugs than 99.9% of the services users, and believe me, as a huge music fan and metadata perfectionist, there are many, many, many things about iTunes Match that I find very, very frustrating. But damn, I pay $24.99 a year and I have access to 24,500 songs anywhere I have access to internet, which is literally everywhere I go in my life. I've had to go back and fix a lot of stuff that iTunes Match messed up, I have to delete random duplicated songs that pop up with other artists metadata that I've never even heard of, I've had my playlists all duplicated, I've had upload issues, I've had the changes in metadata not upload issue, I've had the replacement cover art issue, I've got the Apple Lossless upload issue that's bugging me right now, and I could go on and on and on.

But I keep coming back to the fact that I'm paying $24.99 and I have access to 24,500 songs in my library, and more often than not, it works pretty damn well. It's far, far, far from perfect, but I wouldn't want to ever go back to syncing my music.

Lol, ok I'll stop buying stuff now, just in case Apple releases something I'm interested in...

Sorry, but gone are the days where the world waits for what Apple may or may not announce. Samsung Galaxy is proof of that. I'm actually a Windows Phone convert, so obviously interested, but I think the industry is healthy without Apple, so they will have to do something *amazing* now. Great if they do.

I honestly can't believe they have let iOS stagnate to the extend they have. I would say it's negligent from a corporate standpoint.

Certainly. I wan't so much arguing with you, so much as launching off of you. I definitely get that you and others aren't necessarily making over the top statements that it might seem like I'm responding to. It's really a poor way of approaching it, I admit, but sometimes I just get caught up in voicing my opinion on a matter such as what I've discussed because I know plenty of others have and will take an extreme approach to it.

But ultimately, it boils down to the fact that I'm still wired on way too much caffeine after a long and stressful workday, and my brain hasn't figured out how to turn off yet. Loosely-specific tirades can and occasionally do ensue...:)

Well...

Nothing for spring
Nothing for summer
Everything for fall

meh.

Something should have been announced by now.

Autumn isn't far off and those who want to buy Apple products will wait until then... which will lead into the holiday quarter and record sales.

I would guess that by the autumn there will be even tighter integration between OSX & iOS -- the data centres aren't just showpieces, they will dictate Apple's future path.

For those who can't wait for a new tower, and are looking to get/build a WinPC, I wish you well. You can build one of those at negligible cost and always come back to Apple if things don't work out.

Who knows, they may have it planned for sooner and just realize that a MP release isn't going to wow analysts. And if you plan to go PC, might as well wait until fall for the next generation of intel chips anyway.

I'll probably just go with the new Haswell chipset which *I think* will be available around June. It will require a new socket so a new motherboard that supports it should be future-proof for upgrades. This will also give me time to see what announcements, if any, will be made at WWDC. I have my doubts after Cook's response.

This begs the question, though, are they seriously going to update their WHOLE product line in one quarter? (iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone, iPod nano, iPod touch, Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, Mac Pro) Even the iMac will be around 1 year old at that point.

An iphone that would allow me to talk my friends as holograms would be great! Thanks Tim!

Define "surprise"

Many people could be surprised if Apple does not release a phone with a bigger screen and/or better resolution (and NFC, wireless charging, IR blaster etc.)

In regards to the sales numbers: Considering desktops/laptops are now percentage wise the same as iTunes store sales and iPod sales combined, I can see why they aren't putting a lot of effort into it. It's too bad that what is now a niche market for them is also the market that most of us stuck with in the dark years. I'd love a new MacPro. My late 2012 iMac at home is nice, but I like cores and expandability. Sadly the desktop/laptops are also stuck with the Intel chip release schedule. Can't release a new machine if there's no new chips to put inside it.

A tech company not releasing a new product for the first 2/3 of the year is not going to lead to growth; it allows the competition to catch up and overtake you. Apple doesn't have to release a revolutionary product every quarter, but they need to release something if they want to maintain dominance. They may be working on something amazing, but people aren't going to wait months for something they have no clue about.

Intel releases new chips almost quarterly. If Apple did not skip them a generation (or two) at a time you'd have your new Map Pro long time ago.

Being the overly optimistic person I am I could see a new Mac Pro announced at WWDC in June with pre-orders starting in July and online sales in August. That puts a Mac Pro in the fall.

Announcements at WWDC with availability in August have happened before.

Any new stuff in the fall does not mean no spec bumps before then.

at least we'll see iOS 7 at WWDC in June.

we already know what to expect for all the products coming out anyway. just wait it out.

AMEN - this is just more Tim Cook blathering about a pipeline. That is nothing more than corporate speak for

WE AIN'T GOT NOTHING TO SHOW FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 5 OR 6 MONTHS

He's simply repeating the same old company line he's spoke of in the past.

Lot's of talk, nothing to show for it today. Maybe there's some infighting going on with the turnover of execs.

Still waiting for the next generation Apple TV, I wonder when and what new things would be added. Hopefully more streaming apps or music apps would be really nice like Roku.

Oh, Lordy...can we possibly survive for a whole 6 months without some electronic novelty in our lives.

I know my life will be completely empty...:(

Wonder if WWDC dates will be announced tomorrow?

----------

Let's hope they live up to this. They've really been slacking off in the "revolutionary products" department recently, just releasing evolutionary ones.

Just curious how you survived between 2001 and 2007?
