B) it looks almost exactly the same as the iPhone 4 (Which i think apple made...)
This is Mac Rumors, not Mac FalseInformation. Maybe you should do some fact checking before saying something ridiculous like "Apple made the iPhone 4". Apple would never have their name associated with that piece of ****.

Apple are now playing catchup
Actually, I would say that Apple has been playing catch-up for over a year.

Not their fault...they are just one company taking on a dozen other companies (some of whom are very, very good at what they do).

Apple Will make a virtual Home button . it as simple as that .. "
They might. The Android users here would have a pretty good laugh over that one. Not sure how the fan-folk would take it since it is a page out of someone else's book.

This is shaping up nicely...

  • 4 inch display at 960x640 (288 PPI) or (I hope) 1440x960 (432 PPI)
  • A6 at 32nm w/ a quad-core Cortex A9 and a dual-core SGX543 or (if 1440x960) a tri-core SGX543 or lower clocked quad-core SGX543
  • 1GB RAM, bigger battery (and much better battery life), 1-2MP FaceTime camera
Yeah, no. I expect the next iPhone to basically be a 'iPhone 4GS'.

Case redesign, maybe a larger screen. But basically a 32nm A5, DC 1Ghz, 543MP2, 1GB of RAM with LTE.

YES!!! Please be true!

I wouldn't mind a bigger screen but don't really want a bigger phone.

Ideally, I suppose, an edge to edge display and a wide/taller aspect ratio would be the way to squeeze the most screen real estate out of the thing without increasing the phone size.

Developers would be pretty quick to update their apps to the new ratio and black bars down the size would be OK for any apps that didn't make the change.

I think the most likely outcome will be that Apple will keep the aspect ratio and either implement an edge to edge design or increase the phone size slightly.

I doubt if they will ever create a brick like the Galaxy S3. I hope not anyway. Unless they keep the current iPhone and call it the iPhone mini. :)

I seem to remember someone creating a mockup of an iPhone with a 4" screen which would not result in a taller iPhone footprint. i think that would be a better solution if Apple can figure out a way to do it. Still, this rumor seems faint at best. I would love to see a larger screen that does not sacrifice pixels, but it seems unlikely.

I'd actually love that phone if it came in a Nexus flavor with stock Android. Actually I would probably consider it as is if it came to Verizon. Very sweet phone.

I agree, it's a very nice phone. I've never used Android, but I think it wouldn't take that long to get used to.

You see, it creates a little problem for apple known as "Fragmentation" which is kind of boogeyman for Apple. From the original iPad to the new iPad the ratio is still 4:3 and from original iPhone to current 4S, the ratio is 2:3.
They won't be changing the screen ratio this time.

Looks ugly IMO.

Happy with how it is, if they're going to make it 4 inches long and the same width why not make is 100 inches long and then it doubles up as a single bed....

Well... except when Digitimes is quotes as the "source." :D

1). It's a mock up. We don't know what the true design. Chill.

2). The added length -- if that's what happens -- will be to add room for LTE chip and bigger battery. It's not "hey let's make it longer just for the heck of it." But if the choice is longer or thicker, I think Apple goes longer.

they obviously don't know what the screen size is...how the hell would you order a phone screen like "at least 4 inches"??? what ever comes out, right?

The new iPhone (not iPhone 5):
4" LCD
LTE
A5X
1 gig of RAM
iOS 6
Bringing Siri out of beta and opening it up to all 3rd party apps
Facetime HD camera
Tapered edges (similar to the iPad)
8 megapixel rear camera (though perhaps a better sensor, faster shutter time, lens, etc)

That's my guess.

I'm guessing 1024 x 768...

1024 x 768, plain and simple.

And why not? After all, that resolution has to be coded for already, for the iPad 1 & 2.

At 326 ppi, the screen would measure 3.14" by 2.36", with a 3.93" diagonal measure... only slightly larger to hold than the current iPhones in my opinion.

To go to a true 4" diagonal screen at 1024 x 768, you drop down the ppi slightly, to 320.

That's my guess.

Am I one of the few that enjoys the 3.5" display? I wouldn't mind the 4" screen, but I wouldn't want the phone too much larger.

I hope it's 4.3 inches. Solely because I want to see the 'No! Never! I'm not getting a phone with a screen bigger than 3.5 inches! AppletillIdiezomg, dinner plates, snowboards, garage doors and other hyperbolic comparisons' will look more daft than they already do.

Upgrade Early?

Do you think A T & T will let their iphone users who purchased the Iphone 4S upgrade early to get the Iphone 5? They allowed me to upgrade early from the 4 to the 4S.
