Finally 😕 Apple is gonna show us why 2022 will be like 1984. Sad, they were the Mavericks! 😔. Now there gonna be “Big brother?” 🤷‍♂️

Thats actually much much worse for me. Why would I want a foreign government reviewing my photos?
You're misunderstanding. The foreign jurisdiction doesn't review your photos --- they agree with other jurisdictions on what is the set of CSAM photos to check against. This way, China, Russia, the US, etc., can't try to target their citizens, for some local crime.

It’s not about that. It’s about opening that Pandora box. And about how this system is going to “expand and evolve”. This is pure China stuff right here. And it sucks because I love Apple. I even still have my Apple IIc. But unfortunately this is the end of the line for me.
Mmm this simply means you don’t trust Apple when they say they won’t expand the categories of what they scan. You should leave the ecosystem then. Possibly move on to Android ecosystem where no private scans occur

"It's your choice, but your parents want to know you're safe."

When did I give Apple the right to speak to my children on my behalf? Don't they have any idea how creepy that is?
This is an opt in feature. You give them the right when you opt in.

Again it is happening on your Apple device scanning your personal photos, and again you can’t trust their bs because you don’t have access to the source code and algorithm.

You are just trusting a company that used to call privacy a human right. Can you understand all their rhetoric is just bs?.

You know how you can prove it's BS? By providing evidence that the system is being abused. When you find that as this rolls out or in the future, please PM me to let me know. Until then, all you have is fear-mongering and speculation.

They can’t . It’s a conspiracy driven narrative

If you live in EU, there is a report from february by the EU that goes into the pros and cons of scanning for CSAM and the impact on human rights. It concludes something along the lines that the current legislation needs amendments.

Link to the study
Don't do that. We're here to write about our feelings and the occasional phrase in ALL CAPS. This is a place for fixed mindsets, not open ones.
(Yes, I'm aware of my hypocrisy)

Great link. Thanks.

Doctors Larry Brilliant and Anthony Fauci have decades of experience in infectious diseases, their transmission, and pandemics. Do you trust their views?
Well, what do they say about the specific capabilities of best research methodologies at this scale of microbiology/organic chemistry TEM?

Whenever NASA gets a new telescope, they talk about it’s capabilities, specifically the resolution and range, they also have processes to attempt interpolating images beyond that capabilities. These all have accuracy rates, and naturally fall off as the limits are crossed. So at opposite end of research looking for really big, far away stuff, there are actual specifics for looking at really tiny, up close stuff for accuracy, and error rates (sometimes known, sometimes guesstimated).

So for the original poster who said something like only morons think vaccines are bad , I was looking forward to his demonstrated knowledge of why vaccines are good, starting at the viral particle level and the known/best-estimated/guesstimated accuracy of the methods used to verify at the particle level.

You can agree it would be really embarrassing and unprofessional for NASA to make definitive claims beyond the capabilities of their research tools? Or to overstate findings without qualifying against actual research capabilities?

I took photos of my 3month old daughter taking bath for her first year album, thats mean that this algorythm consider that is abuse/crime/i dont know what and remove that photos from my icloud and iphone? what we done with this word?
Really ?
Are your trolling ?

That is an awesome American concept. We should consider Apple innocent until someone proves them guilty. Likewise, that concept applies to the users. Assume we are innocent too. Don't install spyware on the phone that reports behavior to the government.

If anyone has actually bothered to read Apple's document on this then you will see that they have gone out of their way to implement CSAM detection in a very thoughtful way while maximising privacy. I'm as liberal as anyone in terms of privacy etc but Apple's approach is highly likely to catch genuine offenders while minimising the chances of false positives and respecting privacy at the same time. That's a tough balance to make.

I wonder if the other companies such as Google and Facebook carry out CSAM detection with so much respect for privacy? Of course not!

It's not very hard to follow my logic, is it? I wouldn't call ownership of property a form of gymnastics. I own everything included in the items I pay for.

I just want what I paid for.
How have you paid for iOS 15?
You haven't paid for a device with it pre-installed.
If you had it before today, you have taken part in a free beta testing program and have agreed to the TOS.

If you are forecasting to a time when you may purchase a phone with iOS 15 pre-installed - you have now been uniformed and are giving consent.

You don't have to upgrade.

Want proof. Apple started kicking apps off the store because of political views and they are so far up China's behind with monitoring and censorship.

Using your logic airports should stop scanning your luggage and private belongings

Anti-Vaxxers are concerned about health.

What these two things have in common is that they are worrying about nothing.
So, you're going to continue with equating people who are concerned with privacy to anti vaxxers. Got it. Sounds like you have no more stuff to argue with thus resorting to calling names. Cool.

I wish you good health and that you will never need to live in a country with heavy censorship and draconian moral laws. If you do, just remember, do you want to be an anti vaxxer as well? :) Peace out.

That is an awesome American concept.

Not American at all. It's an ancient concept of justice and considered a human right by the UN.

Um, they are. You won't get Apple's attention until you become a criminal by uploading child porn to their servers. There is no spyware (you wouldn't know about it if it were spyware) and Apple can't see what's on your phone. And they don't report you to the government. Thanks for proving you know basically NOTHING about the subject

iPhone and iMessage are being abused even though Apple said they were secure and private. See NSO Pegasus storey.

Well, you would have to look at their research going back many years dealing with Smallpox, SARS, MERS, HIV, Ebola, Swine Flu, etc. Are you an epidemiologist/virologist? If so, I'd sure love to hear your views.
