I think is funny when people says Beats are overpriced. You do realise Apple products are all overpriced as well.. Yet we still buy them.

Overpriced based on??

If somebody is willing (not forced) to pay a certain price for something how can it be considered overpriced?

For nearly half this price you can get the bad ass sounding XB950BT headphones from Sony... They're on sale right now for 159.99 at Sony and Amazon.

I picked up a pair last month. They are my new favorite headphone. Still on my first charge after over 20 days of use. They are super comfortable too!

I like the look of Beats Solo2 but they are too overpriced for my $. I like the look and styling of the PowerBeats2 as well... but not enough to pay $100 more than they are worth.

As long as they are The Thinnest Solo2 Wireless Headphones We've Ever Made, I will buy them.

I buy anything made by Apple that is The Thinnest Ever.

I can't imagine ever spending $300 on headphones, but for those who can print money in their basement, at least there's a wireless option for you.

Problem solved. Overpriced headphones + Apple Tax ....all new Beats ;)

Apple sure doesn't have a problem selling so-called "overpriced" products so basically your saying Apple consumers are idiots.

I'm no Beats fan either but reading all these silly snide remarks here is just ridiculous. Regardless what any of you say these headphones will sell like crazy during the holiday and many of you here need to get over it. It's called CHOICE and if you don't like what Apple is offering in headphones there are plenty of other manufacturers which also overprice their headphones. Apple is laughing all the way to the bank while you guys are all just laughing amongst each other. Who will get the last laugh? Hmm. :p

any thoughts on how stupid someone would look wearing those? :D
But if you wore something like this you wouldn't?

Personally I think anyone wearing over the ear headphones in public looks stupid.

I dont get the mindset of people who are worried about looking dumb wearing headphones, how big a phone is etc.

Are people really that insecure? I couldnt imagine being that way

You do realize that "not inexpensive" and "overpriced" are not the same thing, right?

Try and get Dell to make a rMBP and see what they charge.

Apple products are expensive because Apple doesn't make cheap garbage. This is a recording.

Objectively and intellectually 100% correct. But this is MR where "overpriced" either means "I can't afford it -- those greedy bastards," or "the brand I have is superior because it's the brand I have."

Weren't the wireless studio headphones $100 more than the non wireless studios, pre-Apple acquisition?

Seems like they're just following similar pricing strategy to me, versus the so called Apple Tax

looks at what you can build a hackintosh for vs a Mac Pro

I'm happy with my current headphones:

Monoprice item #8323

4.5/5 rating, 1032 reviews

Lifehacker calls it "one of the best" headphones (certainly for the price).
They deliver way better sound than you would expect in a $20 closed-back set of headphones.
...
They're well balanced, but the drivers still deliver enough power to really make you feel what you're listening to at any volume. Hook them up to a solid DAC (...) for a real treat.

CNET liked them, as well.
The headphones' bass-midrange-treble balance is nice and smooth, which makes it suitable for those with audiophile tastes.

A reviewer on Head-Fi.org gave them an 8.5/10.
These have great sound isolation, are great to wear over a long period of time without any discomfort (...), sound great, and have a solid build quality.

And their cost? $23.98.

Yes, $23.98. Not $199.95 or $299.95 or $599.95.

** $23.98 **
