Better Option

For $100 less you can get the SOL Republic Tracks Air wireless with aptX and AAC, 15 hours of battery life, dual-device pairing (Multi-Point), 150 feet of Bluetooth range, a virtually indestructible headband and a 100 day money back guarantee. I'm not convinced that Apple adds any value to Beats other than $$.

It's interesting that Beats is still functioning as an entirely separate entity and that Apple logos haven't found their way on to the products yet. But I guess Beats headphones don't really fit the design ethic of Apple and people might be confused by the branding.

But if you wore something like this you wouldn't?

Personally I think anyone wearing over the ear headphones in public looks stupid.

Judging someone's intelligence based on the design of their headphones looks even more stupid.

I hope they do something about the audio quality with beats headphones. The bass is way overhyped for my tastes. I'd rather my audio not be colored by the headphones at all. These headphones are way overpriced for what you are getting. Just one mans opinion.

Does Bluetooth wireless not sound as good as wired? I've been tempted to get some wireless, but the idea of listening to quality less that that of my ATH-M50X is uninspiring.

At the gym last night I saw lots of people wearing Beats headphones. I don't get the popularity but it exists.

It's a fashion. It's like buying a designer pair of jeans. They aren't necessarily better than a pair of jeans from the gap but people wear them for the name.

Beats headphones aren't that bad. I got a bonus before the summer holiday and brought me a pair of studios. I like the design but I did buy the because they are fashionable. Not afraid to admit im shallow at times.

Disappointing that Apple is endorsing these junk products by iterating on the current models. It makes them hypocrites when they talk about product quality and then release these.

If they want to use the Beats brand, fine, but they should cease production of all current models and start from scratch, designing headphones that actually live up to Apple standards.
Beats still owns the lifestyle headphone market, why would Apple change anything. Business is business

At least swap the Beats logo for an Apple logo.

There must still be a ton of equity left in the Beats brand for that logo to still be present. (But what do I know, it seems confusing to me.)

because advertising and brand awareness has been paid for and accrued, and they have $100bn+ in the bank. all they need to do now is make a couple 'lifestyle commercials' for 50K a pop and throw up a few billboards from time to time. if they don't improve the things or make a truly studio-worthy pair of cans, i'll be surprised.

I feel the same as you. My guess is that Apple and former Beats engineers are currently designing brand new headphones as we speak. Apple still has to make available and sell the latest Beats models that are scheduled for manufacturing and public release. (Hence the new model's still present Beats logo).

My guess is that within a year, we'll see the first true Apple branded/re-designed headphones using former (and hopefully much improved) Beats technology.

Why would you change the logo? When that logo controls over 60% of the headphone sold over 100 bucks:cool:

I'm sorry but 9 times out of 10 designer jeans are better than Gap jeans in terms of quality.

LMAO Seriously. :D Drag ha!

Definitely in the pipeline before Beats was purchased...That said, its not like Apple is going to tell Beats to knock it off with new really expensive plastic products in the future.

Really expensive product that sell like crazy... They are wildly successful so they must be doing something right.

I was just about to type this, we all have overpriced tablets, smartphones, laptops and desktops based on what else is available

beats, bose and whatever else is 90% namebrand you are paying for not much different than apple products

Apple products are not overpriced. They are best of breed in every category. When you see the Apple logo, you know you're getting a quality product that is truly exceptional.

I don't especially mind Beats. I have a pair of Beats Studio Pro headphones, but they are not a premium quality product in any sense of the word. There is no comparison with Apple.

I can buy a nice Bose headphone with that price and Bose has a better headphone design + decent sound quality.

Or you could do even better and buy a pair of Shure professional reference headphones -- the kind actual audio engineers wear. Of course they are not wireless because wireless and good audio are no more possible than TN LCD screens and accurate video monitors no matter what the brand.

There is lots of headphone choice out there, each with their own feature set and reason why someone in the market would chose one over the other at the same or similar price point.
