50% of McDonald's wireless payments is utterly insane and brilliant. PLEASE push :apple:PAY out to other countries ASAP, Apple. We can make that figure 50% worldwide! I'll eat at McDonald's every day, if you like!

GIVE ME :apple:PAY!

Especially when you can use Apple Pay to get that Egg McMuffin. And afterward, you can head to Walgreens and use Apple Pay for your high-cholesterol meds. ;)

McDonald's has a Playland and free WiFi. Coffee is $1. I sip my coffee and post about them while the little ones play in between chicken nuggets and apple slices.

Yeah the "technology that helps you not to take out your wallet to buy things." I went to walgreen but i still had to bring out wallet to take out ID card. (Buying cigarettes). Shame liar!!

By the time you need chemo, your hospital will take Apple Pay! (Assuming you're in the US and that's how non-universal healthcare works)

I don't think NHS will be too happy, if they read that.....

Weird. Android users said that we were iSheep for buying the new iPhone and that this tech has already existed for years in Android phones and was no big deal?

Apple fans are too emotional about Applepay.

SHHHUT UUUUPPPPP!!!!!! Why would you say that??????? Oh man........ Why... why did you say that?

Now I have to go tap for a chicken mcnugget and some panera bread to quiet my nerves.......

/s. (i love apple pay.)

You need to go back to school pal! lol!

Try 100 x 0.5 (50%)
Now try 100 x 2 (doubling..)

If you're getting the same number can I borrow $1000 and I'll pay you back double!

No problem! You'll pay me back ..... lets see, carry the 1.... divide by pi.... $4000! it's a deal.

I think what is confusing people with the doubling and then 50% is what the different numbers refer to.

Start with 100 NFC payments (chip cards and GW)
Double payments to 200 (add Apple pay)
50% of New amount (Chip+GW+AP) = 100 Apple pay

So, you do come up with the same number, but it refers to a different payment method.

In the UK there is a transaction cap on tap to pay payments, is this the same in the States? That would explain why higher ticket retailers (Toys R Us) are likely to see a slower up take than retailers where the average transaction is below the limit?

When will we start to see it advertised by the retailers with signs "Apple Pay Accepted Here!" I've used it at about 6 different McDonald's and every time the employee comments that I was the first person they'd seen ever use it usually with a "that's so cool" comment.

It wasn't outside the store but the last time I was at Walgreens the payment terminal had advertisements for Apple Pay all over the screen.

The problem with your point is that the two statistics are from two different datasets. The first dataset (Walgreens) was an increase of transactions by 100% or double the NFC transactions they were previously processing. The second dataset (McD) was stated as 50% of NFC payments were ApplePay. The latter of the two is somewhat meaningless without some other context. For example we don't know the rate at which ApplePay cannibalized existing NFC payment methods, nor do we know if the total number of transactions increased or decreased.

Kill clutter

I'm aware that BoA works with Apple Pay. The point is to get a card that doesn't need a phone to use tap to pay.

The point is to have a phone that doesn't need the card.

Or at least to have a card that shows what you've spent.

When is this likely to come to the UK ?

Hopefully not too long. I would have thought getting the banks on board here would be easier than the U.S. Far fewer smaller banks I think and most already have some sort of touch to pay capability.

$$

What's there to license? It's NFC, I've used it everywhere and never did they say they supported Apple Pay, but they've taken PayPass for years and it works there fine.

For the merchant it's NFC. The Apple pay part is in the phone and at the bank end, each of which is protected (and monetized!) IP.

----------

Nothing changes at the retailer end, just a PayPass terminal. The bank end is regular EMV tokenization (Chip & PIN)

Yet the bank pays Apple.

----------

You are buying the wrong product;)

CVS had an answer for that.

I think people who expect Apple Pay to be mainstream is delusional. Its been out for like 2 months. How long did it take the credit cards to become mainstream when they were first released?

Even the iphone itself didn't really pick-up until 3 o 4 years later. In 2009, it was BlackBerry heyday IIRC even though iphone was out since 2007

No limit beyond your bank balance and credit line.

It is an online process with verification. Equivalent to you entering your PIN number.

Toy shopping season kicks off on the 27th here, so maybe that will bump them up. Personally I have to drive an hour to get to TRU, so that isn't happening.

Oh come on, you're blowing this way out of proportion, that's just silly, I mean c'm---
