My credit union took forever to support it. You could sign up for a card with no annual fee from a place like Chase without having to change banks.

I think he specifically was trying to avoid those gigantic banks. I'd say check out PenFed or USAA or one of those credit unions. They stay on top of things.

All of these countries are in Europe, aren’t they? If so, shouldn’t that be in the headline for interests’ sake?

If Apple Pay is already in “dozens” of countries, then Tim Cook’s statement about more than 40 by the end of the year isn’t really relevant now.

I wish my smaller hometown bank would support it. I asked them about it and said they have no plans to offer Apple Pay in the future. I’ve been considering changing banks.

I have my home mortgage thru a credit union, and asked them several years ago if they had plans to institute Apple Pay. At the time they said yes so I took out a credit card-because they don’t offer debit cards, and waited. It’s been about 4 years and I’ve used the card once and have never had a balance on the card, as I paid it off within a day. I told them recently that I am canceling the card and when they asked why I said it was the lack of Apple Pay support. They then said that they were considering adding it but I said I was told that 4 years ago and it hasn’t shown up yet.

My primary commercial bank has offered Apple Pay for at least 3years, and over time more of my business has migrated from the credit union to them because AP is easy (now) for me to use and its more secure than using a credit card at shops.

I’m in the US, and I don’t know if it’s my imagination, but I’m seeing NFC in more and more locations. Maybe about 50% of places I shop. Not amazing, but getting better. I still rarely use it, because I often don’t notice till I already have my card out (or don’t want to draw attention by paying with my watch, and then sometimes it doesn’t work... haha). But when I start getting that 3% back I’ll definitely make the effort

Personally I think there'll be some categories of merchants that will basically never support it (like sit-down restaurants), but yeah, it's now possible to use it for most stuff in my experience too.

Has anyone just had their Apple Pay completely stop working at some places, but not at others? I'm not sure if I should try completely resetting Apple Pay across all my devices or what. The cashiers have told me that for some customers it stopped working, but not for others.

Has anyone tried the new Express Travel settings in Apple Pay? I've turned mine on, but haven't needed to travel today.

Not familiar with that, can you explain?

If the US ever gets to chip and pin, it will happen. I use it extensively in Europe

Monese? Never heard of them. They seem to be UK based. I would look into them to see if they’re a good deal, but as I’m EU-based I’m going to look elsewhere. Brexit you know.

Still India nowhere on the radar and yet they want to expand their foothold there. with zero services.

1: At first I thought you were joking or miss informed. Then I did my own research and was honestly floored that Apple Pay simply is not supported in PR. I always knew the relationship between governments in PR and the mainland were an odd circumstance, but wow.

I asked my medical team recently about travel outside the mainland, and they recommended PR for it's availability of advanced medical care should the need arise, and the fact that my health insurance is accepted as "in network" in most hospitals on the island. My insurance has generous overseas and medical evacuation coverage anyway, and I also purchase evacuation insurance when I travel due to my heart condition.

Oddly enough, I can also legally carry a concealed firearm in PR due to my previous and current employment. But I guess I better bring my AMEX....

Many merchants in the island are already NFC/Apple Pay/etc enabled. So as long as you have a card from participant bank or issuer you shouldn't run into any issues. I use Apple Pay in Puerto Rico pretty much everywhere I go (Costco, Walgreens, Best Buy, Pet Smart, local businesses). The problem most people in the island are facing with Apple Pay has to do with the local banks which seem adamant to support it (some already support both Google Pay and Samsung Pay) either because of contractual stuff (possibly concerning the transaction fees) or technology/infrastructure changes that need to be done in order to comply with Apple's terms.

Still no Apple Pay in Colombia. Brazil is the only country in Latin America where the service is supported.

These types of comments are a bit silly

You are sadly mistaken if you think for one second that Apple wouldn’t roll out ApplePay in every conceivable market if it were possible. Bank and government restrictions abound

This is similar to when I went to Amsterdam last year and used Apple Pay extensively. It was so confusing at the time to come back and read on here about how Apple Pay wasn't supported there.

I found it this morning while playing with my Apple Pay settings. You'll find it in the settings for each card

Haven't had a chance to test it on a bus yet (my local buses take contactless/Apple Pay payments)

Interesting, I don't have that "express travel pass" option. I have only used wallet for payment on the tube in London. Maybe something more is coming.. I like the idea of a quick access card linked to one card

Perhaps it's country-specific. Try changing your phone to Australia (which I do to maintain metric settings) and see if it shows up.

That's interesting.. i changed the region to AU and sure enough the "Express Transit" was there under each of my credit cards. I turned it on for one card, then changed region back and it's still an option on each card in the wallet.

Thanks for the pointer

Wow... ApplePay is on fire! I already use my Watch as my primary payment system around Toronto but it’s hit and miss when I travel. I’m looking forward to it being completely ubiquitous, everywhere In the world.

Hopefully AppleCard expands quickly after the US launch. Then again, we’re still waiting for ApplePay Cash...

And yet big chain stores in the US like Home Depot still won't accept any contactless payment...

Then shop at your local stores and let the big chain stores know it. In Toronto, ApplePay is supported almost universally with very few exceptions. Hudson’s Bay doesn’t. They spent a fortune building custom payment terminals but then failed to update them for tap payments. Now, they’re stuck with outdated tech. I used to shop at The Bay routinely. I haven’t gone back and I’ve let them know why when they call with promos.

About 90% here in Phoenix and growing! I always made an effort simply because I hate carrying extra stuff. I’m ready for Apple Card.

Exactly. Ace Hardware stores are all mom and pop owned and all have Apple Pay.

It only works in one city now, Portland Oregon. Your buses and trains has to update the firmware on their card readers. Chicago takes Apple Pay on bus/trains too but yet it doesn’t work with Express Transit yet.

What features on the iPhone Xs are not supported outside the U.S.? In what country do you live?
Apple News, Apple Cash, Apple Watch ECG and probably all the latest new services they just announced wont be supported at day one. I live in Spain. So yeah, it is quite frustrating to be none-US resident apple user.

Why stop at Europe? The headline should be 16 more countries on planet earth have Apple
Pay.

No reason why not. Apparently many countries across the world have been using tap to pay at restaurants for many years. They get freaked out in the US how the waiters have to actually grab your card and run off somewhere with it by themselves. Haha
